Hi even though investing in Lego has become more challenging, the potential to build anything your imagination comes up with has never been greater. A while ago I decided I wanted to MOC my own house, recycling some profits from the reselling business in a really fun project. It took me a long time - clearly I lack lots of techniques, but I'm happy to show you the current status. I'm on a building break now before I open up the rooms to add some light bricks I bought from a Dutch specialized website. Once they are up and running, I'll probably post all the interiors too... (everything is 'Modular' - at least I learned something from my PS adventures :-)) Take care. ZULU11 points

Sweet! I won the Slave I & B-Wing lot! The Slave 1 was my first ever set to build and got me in to this mess, so that's perfect and I've been wanting another UCS set.7 points

I bought a Classic Lego package in a private sale, including 20 sets with instructions and 16 with boxes. Some are separated into sets, some are still in bulk. I've put a few sets together and they're missing 0-5 pieces each. If that continues its a great deal @ $65, but I have some inventorying to do. Parts are in excellent condition. Some of these will go into my private collection. The beauty for me is the 580 Brick Yard (1974)... my first Lego set ever. I've been looking for a while for one in this good of condition.7 points

So take this for what it's worth. Occurred at my last stop on my way home from work. This was a conversation I had with random dude filling a cart full of dimensions. He said he heard this from one of the managers. "These packs were all meant for Target. However Target rejected 16 trailers of lego dimensions due to the product just being a poor seller at their stores. They refused to accept the shipments." My attention was taken away by a blonde beauty walking down the aisle so I didn't quite catch the end of the story. Feel free to poke holes or confirm this one. I do not care either way.7 points

Going to keep bumping every couple hours! Keep it at the top of the forum!! Also @ 166 likes! Going to guess and say that's the most liked comment ever! Let's try and get to 200 likes!! As is right now need to add 66 to the raffle! Last few hours guys! I'm sure some of you are on the fence or don't think 10 dollars makes a difference but it does! This is THE BEST way to give back for the work Ed/Jeff put into the site! Tax returns coming in you can live without 10 dollars!6 points

Finished up the UCS Imperial AT-ST 10174. The kids and I are hooked on SW UCS sets at this point. Next up is the UCS Tie and then the UCS Imperial Shuttle. On this set, we loved the detail that they added on the outside with some of the unusual pieces that were used. We built most of it at my office where space is ubiquitous, and that made it a ton easier since it was a used set with all of the pieces mixed together. Definitely going to try to do that with the Imperial Shuttle as well. I do wish the set came with and At-St pilot, so we will probably BL a couple of those to put with the set. We also took a couple of pics with the new AT-ST 75153 and the AT-DP Micro Fighter 75130 (I don't have the 9679) for scale purposes. It is tough to tell how large this set is without some sort of spacial context.5 points

Ventured into Anaheim tonight. Store#1 Gotcha, JW! Store#2 Employee saw me snap this photo and told me a guy just bought 300 boxes including BTTF & JW. Drat! Store#3 Garden Grove on Magnolia @ Katella Staff was very cool at this store. The manager, James, went to the back to look for Level Packs for me. He let me check out the manifest for his upcoming Thursday delivery. More Bad Cop, Benny, and I forget the third. No Level Packs. He said he needs to make some sales. He is fine with someone cleaning him out. If you're in Garden Grove, give James some business. Store #4 - Homer & Wu, looking bored. [emoji4]5 points

The St.Paul PTA and faculty are tremendous. They really go above and beyond almost any school I have ever heard of when it comes to fundraising to keep the doors open. Two years ago they raised $260,000 in two months to remain open. Last year we raised $280,000 to remain open. This year will be another prolific fundraising year, but the good thing is that enrollment is up, so the need is decreasing. I am hoping we won't have to do this again next year and that enrollment increases enough to support the school's costs. It is a constant burden and stress on families and faculty, but I know we have turned the corner and the future looks much improved. Principal Robbins and Father Chris are all in and set excellent examples for the rest of the St. Paul community. I am happy that I can give back and that something as crazy as LEGO bricks can help people remain in jobs and kids in their school. Thank you all for helping once again...5 points

Keep the pics coming, love to see the shelves at other stores. The only one I'm looking for now is Dr. Who & a few more Ninjago team pack :/ Worried there was only one shipment in my area and now it's sold out. One of my 99 cent only stores has been putting their Dimmensions sets in a giant tri-wall bin. I estimate about 400 sets all mixed in. It's packed to the brim and a pain in the ass to go through. Every time you move a few, some fall out of the bin. I keep thinking, maybe that Dr. Who set is at the bottom.. it's not.4 points

I noticed a special promotion on SYW Marketplace (www.syw.com) for SYW Rewards members: 20% back in points on purchases from select Marketplace sellers. Includes several sellers offering retired sets. (I've also seen 15%,18% and 19% back in points). For example, 10193 Medieval Market Village for $173+$6 shipping (already about the lowest you could find on EBay right now for NISB), with $35 back in points. Likely these items are 1 or 2 items only per seller, and you'll need to do some digging, but I've seen as much as $55 coming back in points for some of the sets I've looked at.3 points

It's not about opinions mattering, it's about the process.... Kshine could have just left the message to sit and simmer while he "investigated" but he thought he did something that we generally refer to as "common courtesy" and replied quickly that he was unaware and would check on it. As a seller, I would completely appreciate a quick reply like that and NEVER call my buyer a liar. THAT is good communication. THAT is dealing with the initial perception that you may not have been honest in a POLITE and COURTEOUS manner. Maybe he got it in the morning while he was at work and wouldn't have been able to check until later that evening? Now the seller thinks... hmmm, the buyer seems to be ignoring me, now I think he's trying to figure out what to say. Frankly, sounds like the seller was just being a big ole d.i.c.k and no matter what Kshine did it wouldn't have been good enough unless he replied "Sorry, I'm an idiot for forgetting to tell you about that. I already sent that back to you at my own expense because you're a such a nice guy."3 points

So my portal level packs have started to touch down and the first pack out the first box and resealed with Chell taken out. Looking at the guys (who I bought off) other stock he looks like a straight up retail arber/ flipper and for the sake of $3 I paid for it, I’m not going to worry about. Rest are all fine. But I’m assuming that there are plenty of returns sat in those 99c sets, if you’re not checking seals before arm sweeping, you may want to before shipping.3 points

Kshine said he hadn't seen it, but would check with other family members, that's very different from saying he knew nothing about the extra item as if he was hiding something. The seller was then an arse and doesn't deserve any sympathy if he doesn't get the set back, he brought it on himself. It's very easy to get a package and not notice there's something else in there, you see what you're looking for, especially if it's for resale and the box was put straight into storage. This happened to me recently, didn't notice that Tesco has sent me 4 of a set instead of three. I didn't notice the fourth set hidden under packaging once I'd checked for the 3 I'd ordered.3 points

personally, i would have checked upon receipt and told the seller "hey received extra item if you want it send me return label". i would still do that even after whatever is being thrown around. its the right thing to do.3 points

Ummmmm...do you have too much time on your hands?3 points

pretend the person was having a really bad day and that normally they are very nice . this is your chance to let your humanity shine through. i would go ahead and send them the item back (after rubbing it on something disgusting).3 points

I disagree with this whiney limey. The Killer Croc set is pretty freaking sweet, and the build was pretty fun as well... I also think the Jokers vehicle is nice too and that the catwomans cycle is another nice little set. Sure, batmans bat cave set is nothing overly great, and the Arkham Asylum set isn't a major homer run, but this theme has a lot going for it. I definitely think it's the theme of the year so far.3 points

I lost money on some and made some on others. The people who bought 1-5 I lost money (or very close to break even) I sold the majority of them for 42 shipped, if they bought more than 5. I paid roughly 32.XX each after taxes. I charged 45 shipped for under 5. (Was a mistake on my end lol) 45-shipping-materials (boxes, tape, padding, etc) and some areas seemed to be a lot more to ship (I'm still new to the sipping game) same box, same weight, same everything. One was 32 to ship other 20. I didn't get out an excel sheet and crunch the numbers in my head as long as I passed 2,600 I was fine. With 90% of them already bought/shipped I just passed that mark. So really my last order will be profit I guess of a few hundred. Wasn't in it to make money but defiantly wanted something cover the time/energy (do you know how hard it is to juggle 2 shopping carts that are overflowing and need to go over multiple speed bumps!..lol) needless to say I will turn a small profit of a few hundred dollars and that's mainly thanks to the 2 people who bought more than 20! I could have easily made 3-4 what I did but like I've said I did it for the "team" not for myself. Went into that target expecting to buy 8-10...left with a 100!3 points

Stick around. I was in the same place as you just 1 year ago. Now I have $1000's of dollars worth of Lego. I never thought I'd be here, and still not sure 100% if I want to stay. But I learned so much from this forum. knowledge earned is knowledge gained. We learn best from our own mistakes, but we can certainly learn from others. It can be tough to get people to reveal the secrets to their success, but most everyone is willing to share their regrets and mistakes. Find out what people regret the most, and you'll be in a much better position than most new investors. Maybe even more than some veterans.2 points
