  1. My daughter finished up the UCS Red 5 X-Wing 10240 yesterday with a little help from me. It is her favorite set and she was super excited to finally get to build one. The kids got their first Lego set for Christmas in 2015, and this was our 50th set to build as a family. What a great family hobby! (And so far it has been a hobby that has paid for itself through sales of extra sets that we have bought...which is tough to beat.)

  4. Trip down to memory lane, I build the classic set 377 this weekend. One of my first sets. I did buy this one last year, as mine had some broken parts (I was quite rough apparantly). The gas hoses are missing and there were some fake Lego parts included. I will make 1 set of both and burn the fake pieces. In order not to make the same mistake I check second hand sets upon receipt. So I build Battle of endor 8038 yesterday (was delivered last friday), pictures will follow soon. Great set! There were some pieces missing so I hope the seller will respond soon.

  6. Had a pretty eventful day driving around in the torrential SoCal rain, was going to try some $0.99 cents stores but a flash flood warning from my phone convinced me otherwise. Anyway, I made out pretty well. If you don't like Kmart stories skip the following. Kmart #1 - Never had been to this one before. Huge, well stocked, very clean (I know, I know, shocker) and judging from the outside decor recently remodeled. Employees where friendly. Picked up my x4 Creator Treehouses ($15.50 each with 60% back in points) and headed over to the Lego section to see if there was anything good. Noticed immediately: A pile of old sets that when scanned showed Kmarts normal 5% off starting clearance price. Next isle over had signs for additional 75% off clearance toys. Now here's the funny part, a bionicle set actually had one of their blue normal stickers on it, but with the printing of a clearance tag. (even said CLR/D on it). I took it to the register, where it also scanned for the markdown prices without the additional 75% off. The employees wouldn't believe me when I said it was clearance, but after playing around with her scanner one of the bionicles finally scanned for $3.50. The manager voided the transaction and started to ring up my full purchase, but then they all rang up at the original price again. The CSM was very apologetic and took the set with the sticker to the store managers office. 5 minutes later she came back and gave me the full 75% off everything. x4 Bionicle Lewa (scanned $14.00 -----> $3.50 Retail: $14.99) x2 Bionicle Pohantu (scanned $14.00-----> $3.50) Retail: $14.99 x1 Nowhere escape mission (scanned $38.00 ------> $9.50) Retail: $39.99 x1 Elves school of dragons (RRP) Used a $10/$50 and $10 in points, final total was $32 for $150 worth of Lego (79% off) Walmart - picked over, clearance isle only had buildable figures for 25% off. Did find however one single heartlake grand hotel for $64.00 (RRP $130). Box seals where worn off on one side but it was spider wrapped and complete. Talked to the manager about further markdowns but the best he was willing to do was 10% off. I took him up on his offer. Heartlake Grand Hotel (1500 pieces!!!!) $63 (after tax) Retail: $129.99 Kmart #2 - My normal Kmart (still 30 minutes away from me) Picked up my 1 Corner Deli ($21) and headed over to Lego where I was happy to find: x3 Elves School of Dragons (RRP) Used $10/$50 and $25 in points to get them down to $8.3 each after tax. Not bad. Final tally of the day (including Kmart.com packages opened. After tax) x4 Bionicle Lewa $3 x2 Bionicle Pohantu $3 x1 Nowhere escape mission $8 x5 Elves school of dragons $7.5 x1 Corner deli $21 x4 Creator Treehouses $15.5 x1 Hearlake Grand Hotel $63 x6 60106 Fire Starter Kit $3.5 x10 Foals Washing Station $3.4 x3 Fire Helicopters (Kmart BLS) $15.75 x4 Pizzas from Blaze $13 (BOGO Free at my local, no I didn't eat ALL of them :P) Its not $0.99 Dimensions, but I'm happy. That's what counts, right? ?

  7. Not so obvious. The plural of Jedi is still Jedi. It could refer to Luke and Rey and anyone else they want to take on.

  11. Not today, but I recently sold: 2x Lego Dimensions Dr. Who Fun Packs on eBay for $14.88 each. They were available from Best Buy on eBay at the same time for $5.99 each...so not sure what went into the decision making process of the buyer. Buy-In was $3.81 at Target in August 1x Friends Heartlake Mall $110; Buy-in was $57.24 in March

It's not really a question of when it starts, it's a question of when it goes on it's ever-so-infrequent hiatus...I think we all agree that he lives in some remote corner of nowheresville USA where there is an unexplained rift in space time that only appears in the Lego clearance section of Walmart stores.

  15. I'd pay $2-5 for as many as someone wants to send my way instead of Amazon. Those are sweet deals. My Bricklink store is 90% dimensions. The margins are low and everything has to be parted, but the volume is pretty high.

  18. I had a decent 24 hour span on eBay ending Sunday afternoon. Sold 9 sets. All are new and a mixture of Jabba Palace, Rancor Pit, 1 75055 ISD, 4204 The Mine, 1 Ant-Man and Benny's Spaceship sets. Everything sold for $1350 before the vast amount of fees. Even w/ my UPS and FexEx biz account savings, shipping with US Priority is still cheaper because of eBay's USPS discount.

  19. 10030 ISD. My greatest CL find ever. $100 and missing less than 100 parts. The previous owner must have missed on section in their disassembly. The parts missing were onesies twosies as if it were from a section. 225 pages of instruction. I'm on page 16.

  21. Star Wars set 8038 Battle of Endor. This is a great set, I like the building process a lot. The colors of the bricks are fascinating, it gives the set a great look. A must-have for Original Trilogy fans. In the future I would like to set it up for display with 75094 IST and Ewok Village. The folding of the building is not very solid and the walking mechanism of the vehicle is a bit odd. But these are my only negative comments.

  25. That's one problem I don't have. I have my own spending limits which means I only buy a few at a time anyway. But as with the Trevi last year, I just pick them up slowly but surely over time when the deal is right. With most things I ended up with a good average buy-in on the recently retired sets this way. Like many more experienced members have said, choose the sets you like and wait until the price is right to buy

  27. Lots of great building going on at my house over the weekend since the weather was rainy. We finished up several sets that we had been working on. My son finished the Battle Droid Troop Carrier 75086 on Friday, which was one that he had received for Christmas. He also built his first ever City set, Van and Caravan 60117, which he also got for Christmas. My guess is he will stick with Star Wars in the future:)

  29. Discounted by 50% down to €29,99 instead of €59,99. At such a discount it's not too bad. Even just for the minifigs and parts. Ordered 2 for the collection. :-)

  30. Bought 70905 Batmobile for $17.39 today (KMart, after $10 off $50 and $32.60 in points) - 71% off. Also bought .... ahem ... another 71006 Simpsons House (all minifigs, no manuals, no box, missing a few pieces), this time for $76 shipped. Was assuming someone would step in and outbid me but couldn't let it go for that price. I'll either complete it with parts I already have and sell it on, or sell it partially complete once put together. Time will tell if this was a wise decision.

  32. eBay as been modifying the item specifics fields pretty aggressively lately (within the LEGO categories at least). I ran into a pretty sharp traffic drop on 1/17, and realized today the "Gender" field had been eliminated (so it became a custom field on all my listings I had previously filled the field for). Having a "Boys & Girls" as a populated as a "custom field" in the item specifics may have been suppressing my search rankings (my impressions jumped back to the norms within 48 hours of removing the field). I'd suggest double checking all the item specifics of your listings - seems possible some seemingpy unrelated field is suddenly adversely impacting search queries.

  33. I take the time to read a neutral or negative feedback. So I'd see the "no box" as the item title and read the feedback and dismiss the neutral.

  34. I recently built the new 75153 AT-ST Walker, and set it up in my display cabinet next to the 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium: Of course, the minifigs are not from the same movie, but the models themselves are. My other recent build was the new 75172 Y-Wing: I love the model and am happy to have added it to my collection.

  36. The entire line is at toys r us online, so obviously there could have been a last shipment of stock to them, or Lego sold their last batch directly to toys r us right as they retired the line at the end of the year. The entire theme is no longer active on lego.com, and IR, and RE are marked as retired, along with the dimensions sets. But, RR, Trex, DA, and PA are still listed as "out of stock". So, who knows... I did see a few of the sets at my local TRU when I went there this weekend. Regardless, this theme has gone up in value over the last two months as stock dwindled everywhere. I don't really want anymore stock in this theme unless there is some blowout deal, but I think the future does bode nicely for this theme especially the holiday season this year up until the new movie in the summer of 2018. The biggest risk I suppose is that Lego gets the license again, and when they make new sets, they reuse the same Dino molds again. That would crater any value for these initial sets. But, I suspect if JW2 is a lego licensed theme (no word if that is the case), then one would suspect we will see other dino molds in it. Although the risk of another batch of sets with raptors and trexes is real, I suspect. But, the other characters including the Indomonous rex should be exclusive to JW1, and I don't see a remake of at least 3 of the 6 sets. I almost hope Lego gets the license for the last 2 films because it would make this an ongoing theme that will further spur people to collect the previous 6 sets.. I'd also like to see them go back to the first 3 films and maybe make a small line of around 4 or 5 sets. Heck, when the Hobbit theme was going on, they went back and gave us 11 Lord of the Rings sets. I don't see why Jurrasic Park couldn't get at least a few sets, if this line were to continue.

  37. You people are too literal. The Jedi Order is done. There will still be lightsaber-wielding force users, but the Jedi Order is clearly a failure and does not bring balance. As far as I can tell they round up children and then fail to protect them against horrible, child-killing angsty young men. He is just the last person to be called Jedi.

  38. We got hit with some really heavy rain last night but made it through without any significant flooding. Woke up to pretty much what you saw in the pics. 45 minutes with the pump on and it's gone again. I've been switched from telework to admin leave now. The area that I work in is completely flooded and there's only one way in or out (as opposed to two). So they don't even want us trying to come in. Guess I'll do some building today!

  40. Thanks! Looks like the "Theme" field got replaced with a "LEGO Theme" field as well, so you need to also remove the "Theme" field from your listings. Pro-tip (If I can be called a pro): Select all your listings in the "All Selling" view, then click the main "Edit" button above the listings. Make sure you "Edit Individually", then go record by record and remove all the fields that are listed with a "Remove" link (or at least, make sure that the info captured is also somewhere else in your listing). Then "Save and Next" until done.

  41. Another eBay pro tip from Airborne! Just want to give you mad props dude... you've dropped some real gems of ebay Advanced Listing insight over the past months. Incredibly useful tips that I'm sure 99% of ebay's CSRs wouldn't even know about, let alone able to walk through the specific details about. Excellent stuff man.

  42. I haven't sold anything of that sort of value, but I've shipped sets from Canada to 0 feedback, brand new ebayers from foreign countries such as Israel, China, and Malaysia. As an individual, not through GSP. In some cases direct, in some cases through a forwarding company. No issues whatsoever. Even got positive feedback from a few of them without requesting it. My point is, I see a lot of (for lack of a better term) racism on this forum towards shipping to Asia (not calling you out specifically Barry, just a general observation on the boards over the past 18 months). Not everyone is out to get you. In fact, most aren't... they just want Lego sets found in 1st world countries that they can't locate in their developing 2nd or 3rd world locations. People seem to only report the negative experiences they've had with these countries and it creates an unreasonable, unjustified, and ultimately racist bias. Each to their own I guess, but here's me reporting that it's not actually all evil scammers living in those countries. Every sale I've made to that part of the world has gone off without a hitch. I've had more issues (very few, but still more) from North Americans actually.
