It's always a jolting hit when childhood heroes and icons leave us.....reminds us of the fragility of life and that nothing lasts forever. We grew up watching these characters and the silver screen lends a timeless quality to them. We see them that way, free from the reality and mortality of life. And then before you know it they are gone and it almost seems like a piece of ourselves is gone as well. Rest in peace Miss Fisher, you will be missed.3 points

I got lucky and picked up 10 for $10.28 each over the last few months on Kmart.com. I was really wishing that I could get 20 of these but I'm happy for now. I did pass up one damaged one at Target for $19 however, next day it was gone.3 points

hard to see how a set with 9 month availability could have been massively overproduced and hoarded (in the US at least). i have 20 of these at a 30% discount buyin. this is a double your money investing layup with a discounted buyin within 18 months. my usual reservoir of retired sets, ghetto kmarts and out of the way bn, are picked clean of these - i don't think they ever had many to begin with. this set along with Droid Escape to me were about the easiest places to not be scared about putting money from the class of 2016. i have a few hoth escape but not expecting it do as well. carbon chamber - its going to be another year though at 50% off you can't say no.3 points

My most recent (and last. ever.) experience with TRU. Tried ordering two Droid Troop transports during the flash sale on the 9th, used a GC and the rest on my Paypal. When I tried to check out I got an error code and it booted me back to the cart, where I tried to check out again, only to find out my GC had been drained. I was pretty confused but then realized what must have happened. Sure enough, my PP had been charged as well. They charged me $60 without even creating a order. 3 weeks later. More than 10 phone calls, a dozen emails that got no response, and two people hanging up on me when I was on hold for 40 minutes, I finally get a supervisor. She quickly add fixes the giftcard and coldly tells me that Paypal will release my money when they feel like it, and then to have a nice day. That's after I told her my entire story, including the absolute incompetence of her underlings, the people hanging up on me, and the fact that they held my money for almost a month. She didn't care that I had spent SIX F***ING HOURS of my life talking to the idiots (except for one lady who was an angel) they employ on the phone, plus however many more it took to write emails that they never responded too. It's not that I was screaming and yelling at them either, I treated each representative with respect and was calm through these interactions. Maybe it was that I obviously sounded young, I don't know. All I know is that 9/10 of the people I talked to didn't treat me as a customer. The first lady (who was awesome) did give me a code for $20 off, but the sale savings would have saved me $40+ on its own ($20 was the max she could give me according to her). Her higher ups refused to locate me the sets I actually "paid" for. The final supervisor acted like she had resolved the issue (even though I'm still $10 out of pocket) and told me to have a nice day. I simply responded that they had lost a once loyal customer (my family has spent thousands over the past ten years at TRU) All she said after that was that she was sorry it had to be like that, and then goodbye. She then hung up. Worst. Business. ever.2 points

You will get back the total amount of the purchase. So if you sold the item for 100 you get 100 back. So essentially you are already getting you shipping back.2 points

I just found out that if you win by sniping an auction you do not get ebay bucks. I have been using goofbid and since it is UK based, ebay views bids coming from that country. Is there any sniping sites that I can use to get ebay bucks?2 points

Ciglione, Not sure what words of encouragement I can properly convey, except... sorry to hear that unfortunate news and hoping and praying your family has a better new year.2 points

I concur. Blue X Wing moves fast at the right price but those Simpsons sets are shelf warmers, same with ToA and most Ninjago. Let´s see if TLG adjusts some of their scandalous Euro prices downwards on 1st Jan, as well as the UK ones upwards.2 points

I think that supply for this one might be more concentrated amongst the big investors, following Amazon practices but demand for Lego is definitely falling too. Assuming the big boys were in at 40% off or more, they´ll have margin to flip and the price won´t rise so quickly.2 points
-
Sitting on those won't likely gain you anything. If you are wanting to keep two for personal use, my goal would be to flip the others to make my personal sets free.2 points

Some people prefer to remain as "ghosts" on the internet using fake names / throwaway accounts so real details never found out. Some do it for genuine reason such as: -scared about details being found out due to previously being victims of identity fraud etc -dont want their buying history known as they buy 18+ / sexual items -famous people and dont want people finding out their accounts As person has 100+ feedback and confirmed address I wouldn't worry. If you want further piece of mind depending on value of item send it royal mail signed for or special delivery, so buyer can't claim item not received.2 points

sorry to hear that. be "+". everything happens for a reason and always 2 doors opens up for a closed ones.2 points

I'm a newbie to this too, but what's been working for me most consistently in the past month is to go to shopyourway.com and search for a Kmart gift card, then click on the first one, even though the dollar amount is not what you want. Click on "Buy from Seller" and you'll be redirected to Raise. Choose from several cards. Today's top is 7% off. 7% off + 8% in SYW points = 14.4% off. I bought all my Christmas gift cards this way and most of these points showed up within a few hours, but I've heard sometimes it takes 6-8 weeks. Thanks MinifigW for the headsup on this one.2 points

75054 AT-AT and 75055 ISD are performing ok in UK, but nowhere near as good when compared with US performance. AT-AT lowest price on ebay is £190 shipped (RRP £110), however there has been lots of sold listings recently of sets selling between £150 - 165. ISD lowest price on ebay is £200 shipped (RRP £120), however this set has also sold for £150-165. Key message I take from this and which I think every UK person should note is that you cannot compare UK growth levels with IS. Only very very few sets achieve "exponential" growth of above 2xRRP and keep on rising, the US is a completely different market so don't expect sets like IST to perform as good just becuase it may do great in USA. It is dissapointing as these 2 were obviously key winners,l from the 2015 retirees. Obviously if you bought at discount you may get 2x profits, but based off RRP they are hardly a success in UK when compared to USA. I'm abit hesitant on buying anymore IST. I wish this set will do well, but if ISD and AT-AT can't go above 2 x RRP one year after retirement (ebay selling price that is), what hope is there for this set? I don't think IST will perform any better personally as it is nowhere near as iconic as the AT-AT or ISD.2 points

Thanks, FM. Just placed my first purchase. $78.35 for $95 KMT Giftcard plus I should receive 8% back in points ($6.26). Essentially, a total of 24% off. (I used a paypal promo code for an extra $10 off the card.) And taking earlier advice on the thread, I signed up for a personal shopper as well.1 point

Yeah, I haven't had many returns. The couple I have had were fairly cut and dry. Suppose I have issues with this when I receive them back, what can eBay do for me or do I have to just take a loss? I have the 20% restock fee on there, but because "there was a problem with the item", it is showing that I have to pay for shipping it back. Not sure if the 20% restock fee will actually apply1 point

Just in the nick (pun intended) of time, here's our Christmas train circling our tree. We only used spare pieces from last year's full setup (which is still on display in the basement) so the bridge looks a little unfinished. Train makes a big circle around the tree (straight-curve-straight-curve style).1 point

Last three weeks. All on BL, all buyers paid shipping. Not proud of this one) Space utility Polybag $4.98 ($3.73 BI) Jungle Raider x3 $21.98 (7.70 BI) Spaceport x1 $79.98 ($54 BI) Una Uniter of Earth x1 $15.98 ($3.50 BI) Faran and the Crystal Hollow x4 $8.98 ($5.10 BI) Pop Star Recording Studio x3 $9.98 ($7.70 BI) Elves Treetop Hideaway x7 $29.98 - $31.98 (Kept restocking this and the kept on selling. Nice quick flip at $8-11 BI) Hydra Fortress Smash x2 $38.98 ($24 BI) Police Mobile Unit x1 $29.98 ($21 BI) City Garbage Truck x5 $15.98 ($8.44 BI. Stock-roomed my remaining stock of this when everyone started scrambling for it. A few people got lucky) Shadow Troopers x1 $10.98 ($9.90 BI :/) $300 worth of assorted collectable minifigures. I know the returns aren't as amazing as what some of you get, but with limited space I am quite happy with the results (My main selling point is pricing below RRP on a lot of my inventory. Buyers save money, I make money. Win win.). My personal savings account finally reached a major goal last week, my backroom of long term holds is almost full, and new orders keep pouring in. Saving up for the huge clearance bonanza post Christmas and only ordering from Kmart on already purchased giftcards (Which should be depositing 50K SYW points after Christmas). Yippie!1 point

While we've been discussing the ethics of image appropriation, Applemachanix has sold yet another Princess Leia minifigure for $37.22 shipped (!) That's $12 more than anyone else has been able to get for her lately. This guy's too busy counting money to fret over the aesthetics of his pics. Which makes me think there are tangible benefits to using watermarks and signs; it beefs up your brand identity. The more generic your image, the more likely to be stolen, and the more likely your listing blends in with the crowd in search results. If you have a consistent branding in your images, it differentiates you from the crowd, fosters trust, and (I'm speculating) grants you higher selling prices.1 point
