Finished this up tonight. My son did about 90% of it, which is very good for him.8 points

Just in the nick (pun intended) of time, here's our Christmas train circling our tree. We only used spare pieces from last year's full setup (which is still on display in the basement) so the bridge looks a little unfinished. Train makes a big circle around the tree (straight-curve-straight-curve style).5 points

So long as there is more demand from buyers than stock from resellers, you´ll be fine, but we could say that about any item these days. Merry Christmas everyone!4 points

Have to hope for the best and i am given that it was only 15 mins between it happening and her getting medical treatment on the ground. I had a Heart attack 3 years ago which then turned into a cardiac arrest whilst I was being operated on but because I got help within a very short space of time (45 mins from it starting), I was able to make a full recovery and since then been able to lead a normal life and even ran a marathon this past year. The only way you can tell that I ever had an incident is two small puncture marks on my right wrist which they used to unblock two arteries and put in some stents. The wonders of medical science hence why I'm hopeful for her.3 points

If it´s still around tomorrow, it will likely be in the 30% off sale.3 points

It was one big dot, then Luke blew it up and made a bunch of little dots.3 points

They wouldn't do that to me. BAM and I are tight. Right, BAM? Edit: NM. Just got an order update from BAM. Apparently we're not that tight after all. Looks like coal in the stocking tomorrow for booksamillion.com. Santa doesn't like folks who list items for sale that they don't actually have in stock...3 points

My son is really into Titanfall right now. This is not the building set you're looking for. I wanted to quit about 1/3 the way through. Took much longer than it should have, but I would not let it defeat me. A big waste of money, since it's flimsy and he won't play with it long.2 points

Also pretty sure that last 2 years , Walmart didn't partake in the after Christmas clearance until after the new year .2 points

I hope so. The recent silly sales on it in the UK have not pleased me too much, but they did go pretty quickly (hoping there wasn't TOO much stock left). Merry Crimbo to you too, and all the other fellow Brickpickers2 points

The lousy pricing is great news. The last thing we want when trying to sell retired sets for 2 x MSRP is new sets that are $.05 per piece or something. I'd be thrilled if the new Death Star were MSRP $599.2 points

Holy cow....I just looked her up! That's nuts series 10 is not even that old. I started at series 10 and I am glad I didn't miss that one for my personal collection. Looking at Whitefang's review there were only 2 of them in every box of 60 making her a rarer fig.....that combined with the popularity of the "animal mascot" themed figs helps keep demand up. But still that is nuts to be selling for that much. Also yes! love that song and music video1 point

Me too. Super Heroes and Friends are easy passes at anything less than 50%. But that's just my happy point in resale.1 point

I know your pain. I missed a cog out on the BWE and it was a nightmare to fix. Got my value for money in assembly time, though.1 point

Just checked the LEGO stuff. Nothing discounted to start. No compelling sets yet. Will keep checking. Thanks for posting.1 point

Sets can be retired and be available. Simultaneously. All the time. Sometimes for many months.1 point

I've gone in for quite a few of these over the past several months. You can't go wrong with this one, surely? At worst you'll be making your money back plus a few quid. At best it will take off and you/we will be making 100 pounds or dollars or more on each unit. Nice piece I think.1 point

Amazon Warehouse Deals has a few lego sets. Found Porsche 911 GT3 for 260.00 for example. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all! Paul1 point

Long-time lego fan here. I still own many of the classic space sets from my youth including Galaxy Explorer and Galaxy Commander (although they couldn't be further from Mint condition ;-). I can still vividly recall the excitement of getting a new lego catalog, marking items for my wishlist and ultimately getting a big set for my birthday or Christmas. I have a son who's finally arrived in the Lego age bracket and I love his excitement when he gets a new set. I've never lost interest in Lego, but rediscovered it as an AFOL activity over the past two years, following a couple builders on Flickr and buying two sets to build for my own enjoyment: Tydirium Shuttle and Millenium Falcon. Then I read about brick investing and was intrigued. Most of my money currently is invested in real estate and stocks, but here's an investment vehicle I actually care and know something about. So after joining this site and doing a bit of research I bought my first couple of sets for investment today. I'll keep it small initially as I get some experience. I've read up on the blog posts and scanned the forum a bit and realize a couple folks feel bearish, so want to take it slow. But hey, I'm excited :-) Love the site, the community seems great from first impressions and the Brickfolio is really neat. If I had one wish in terms of features it'd be a watchlist. I want to track some sets before I commit. Anyway, glad I found this site and look forward to connecting.1 point

Tower Bridge? Great set that is uber popular and stockpiled. If you don't have one, buy one, but you will have to wait years for that set to appreciate. The SOH is a lot less stockpiled and more expensive with a much shorter production run. The Tower Bridge is a tease.1 point

Exactly... Also bear in mind that the first Landscape set 'Taj Mahal' became too expensive for most people to buy. So collecting them all is limited to a few. I guess with this theme it comes to the fact if a set is liked. TB is nice. SOH not so much.1 point
-
IMO this set is going to be a very, very slow climber. The landmark theme is not very collectible anymore after they decided to keep producing TB indefinitely. SOH is definitely the weakest in the entire theme. For me the poorest set in a weak theme does not inspire much confidence. I am expecting it to sit near RRP after fees/shipping/fraud for at least a few years. I hope you are right buy honestly I just don't see it at all. If TLG had kept to the 2 year life cycle of the previous landmark sets I believe TB would be doing very well (SSD well) and SOH would have had a chance just because collectors would have wanted them all. As it stands SOH is a set many collectors would pass on and now that there is no real motivation to collect all of the landmark sets I just don't see the market for it at a premium.1 point

If anyone is interested. I will be building this set live on Twitch in roughly 3 hours. This is one of my first "big kid" sets and holds a special place in my Lego memories. twitch.tv/silburned1 point
