  7. This F1 Racecar was something Dugald and I have been talking about doing for a long time. All of the regular batteries and motors just aren't fast enough. We tried our best to keep everything light weight, but enough paneling to show the curves of a real F1. Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHskMrkHjm Fastest car we've ever built by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Technic Addict was so kind to lend us his RC buggy motors, battery pack and Michelin tires. (I am quite fond of those tires, but I checked bricklink and found the cheapest used pair to be 110$ for all 4 so yeah... not going to buy em Back end fun by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Dugald asked Technic Addict what he would like to see built with these motors and he was really keen on seeing a light F1 car to show off the speed of the motor. SO here you go Technic Addict! Thanks! IMG_2291 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr My brother and I sat down yesterday at 4pm, grabbed a few drinks, and built the night away. At 12pm we were done! IMG_2304 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr The car weighs 1450 grams or 3.2 pounds. Most of the weight is in the Michelin tires IMG_2353 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Super low car for better aerodynamics IMG_2347 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Big shout out to Technic Addict for making this build possible!

  9. Doing what TP is doing isn't really good for anyone. Yes they will make a fair amount of money, but not very optimally. Putting up insanely large quantities of retired items causes small resellers to undercut you because waiting for 200, 400, 500+ retired items to move is unreasonable. However if someone were to come in with 15-20 items and undercut you, you are more willing to wait it out for the extra cash and thus the price stays high. When smaller sellers undercut TP they are losing out on maybe 10-20 items. Where TP is forcing the price down for hundreds of there own items.

  13. Great feature that will help find the top posts / posters from a specific time period. However I hope this doesn't turn people to only posting content to get likes just like Facebook. I've personally found some of the best advice on this forum from posters who may not have alot of posts / likes / don't post regularly, so alot of posts / likes are good, but there's alot of valuable info to be found that may not have alot of likes. Let's not also forget about all the people who help make this site run day to day in the background who won't always have the most posts / likes like Ed & Jeff / moderators etc.

  26. Anyone doing OK out of these lately? Sold a couple of sets on Ebay in the last week for about £10 over some of the lower prices (a good listing with plenty of pics and a few thousand 100% positive feedbacks probably helps, as well as Xmas obviously). I still have 10 full sets to go and bought them in the Tesco 3-4-2 months ago so it's all good. You can still do alright in this game if you buy the right sets at the right time and get a good discount, and don't expect ridiculous profits on every set.

  28. I am seeing another name pop up regularly on many sets I'm selling. They are lowering the bar across the board and not by just a few pennies. It's like $5-$10 lower than others. It sucks.

  29. it is just as interesting to see them last for days, at the heart of the retail season. even with the horde burned out, regular sales would have poofed these in previous years.

  30. At 50% you should be safe, but there are better Sets to buy imho! It will reach 1,2-1,5 MSRP

  31. I have considered buying one @ 50% off, but concluded that my money is safer in other sets. For a LEGO set to increase in value way above original RRP is has to be collectible. People need to want it desperately enough that they're willing to pay way above original price for it, which means there shouldn't be alternatives for it. And also the target audience should be considered. Adults will generally spend more money for something they want for themselves than on a present for a child. Since Ninjago is a Lego theme for kids to play with, rather than build up and put on display, chances are considerably smaller that a future parent will pay well above RRP for this set for their kid, while there are other current Ninjago sets available to purchase. Of course, the same could be said about Lego City Fire/Police stations for example, and older versions of those sets still sell while newer versions are easily found in stores.

  33. I just found out there's been a redesign of the 10242 Mini Cooper to address this problem: The sides of the windows (both front and rear) sticking out... Both window elements have been redesigned to look like this instead: I already contacted LEGO Customer Service about it, and received confirmation that it's indeed altered in the newer boxes. The new window elements will be mailed to me separately. That will be for my own build of course. The boxes I've saved for future resale have the older design so my future customers will have to figure it out themselves...
