TRU.com is running BOGO 40% on LEGO. http://www.toysrus.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=3696486&sr=1&origkw=lego&ff=Taxonomy&fg=Category&fd=&fv=2254197 I couldn't pull up a full list of eligible sets so I went to each theme I was interested in. Sometimes it didn't show the BOGO40 until after I sorted prices and/or 'items to show' per page. Anyway, I've had my fill.11 points

First-time caller, long-time listener so thanks to all that contribute and admin here! FYI there are still a few deals on clearance at KMart. What's better than half-price Lego? Retired half-price Lego. I found these stuck in the back of a clearance shelf... Retired almost a year ago. 60033 $7.00 x 3 - Arctic Ice Crawler 60035 $23.50 x 2 - Arctic Outpost 60075 $23.50 - Excavator and Truck11 points

As someone who started in the game last year like you, I agree with a lot of what you said, particularly about the game changing continuously, not being a sheep , loyalty programs and the most important, get approval from SO. There are a few items I think you're a little too black and white on though. 1. Buying part is easy - no it's not, if you said buying everything is easy, then I'd agree, but buying is hard for the simple reason that a lot of the time we want to buy everything and stopping yourself can be very tricky. Restraint can be hard and needs to be learned, especially when you can just stick a purchase on your credit card and forget about it for a month. 2. It's all about the buy-in - it is, but not necessarily about getting the best discount, you want the best buy-in on the best set. If I had waited for anything more than a 20% discount on say Indominus Rex here, then I wouldn't have got any, as it is I'm very happy that I have. Much happier than some sets I bought at 50% off. 3. Pick one strategy, one that suits your lifestyle best - I think the days of picking one strategy and sticking to it are dead and your point about the game changing continuously illustrates the need to be on your toes and evolve. When I started, I had 2/3 year holds in my head, but quickly I saw that to do that with some sets, I'd need to churn over other sets to be able to grow quickly. So while I have had targets for investment all year and picked them up as I could, I also find great deals which I list straight away and constantly reinvest. Not meaning to pick apart your blog, you do make some great points, did I mention getting approval from SO (or hiding 50% of purchases from her). The big lesson I've learned from my first 18 months in the game is that the old military adage of no battle plan survives contact with the enemy, could easily apply to what we do, we can plan all we like, but dangle that big shiny discount in front of our face and all plans go out the window, (hence this months credit card bill will be well hidden from SO) So adapt or die. And like you said, if we help each other out, then we'll all do ok and enjoy the experience even more, this is a hobby for most of us after all. I walked into my local GameStop for the first time ever today. I asked the guy if they had any Dimensions Green Arrow polybags. He said that he had some in the back. He went and got one for me and just handed it to me without requiring that I purchase anything. Score!6 points

I finished this awhile ago but I was waiting for the stickers to arrive before posting. I would like to give a big thank you to Thorsten for creating the instructions and Jaap Technic who made the wonderful stickers for me. Of course the biggest appreciation and thanks go to the designers, Lox Lego and his brother Dugald. Keep up the great work!6 points

Never going to laugh about the "girl" sets again. The only thing I have selling like crazy is the Elves sets. 4x Skyra's mysterious sky castle 41078. Buy in 19 sold 4 so far (in the last 3 days) for 62 each on eBay. Just listed this stuff and already 12 watchers! Crazy! Thanks@exciter1 for opening my eyes almost left all those sets and those 5 dollar porta potties that day...lol5 points

Typical case of "Buy-in is king". MSRP on that set is $80, so you are giving people 20% off, while giving yourself a healthy $20-$30 dollar profit on a $19 investment. Well done!4 points

There is no chance for us "non-GBer" to get a ~60% on sets, because crazy 3-4-2 deals simply don't exist. One can be happy, if we get a 40% discount on a set like this (where discounts stack). Meanwhile, If you don't have family, friends etc. in GB, you can't compare GB prices with rest of Europe-prices (I'm not talking about Amazon.co.uk).4 points

Sold a couple more of 21118 Minecraft The Mine for $145, buy in was $60 at B &N. I got 7 of these and $145 has been where I'm at on 5 so far...one of the buyers today actually took the worst box I had which wasn't terrible but at least now I don't have to worry about getting rid of it for less. 2 left, not bad for 6 - 7 months hold. Might keep one to build, the 6 year old won't be pleased if I sell ALL of them but this isn't about personal feelings, it's about money. A concept when selling one must face head on...even at 6!4 points

Built our POTC Black Pearl (#4184) (supposed to represent the Mayflower) and used it in our Thanksgiving display. We also used the Creator Log Cabin (#5766) as well. I purchased some tan Imperial Flagship sails a few months ago on Brick Classifieds, and I still need to change out the sails (have to find it amongst all the other Lego we have). Not a fan of the black sails in this display. However, the overall display didn’t turn out too bad. Also, I want to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all those in the BrickPicker community that have contributed and have been helpful each and every day. I enjoy reading the posts, opinions and deals found in these forums. Have a good Thanksgiving. Thanks again, Kevin4 points

To be fair to Mr E, he's been right more time he's been wrong, and he is probably one of the few people on this site who isn't afraid to tell others what he is genuinely buying / why / give out tips. No one could of guessed lego would have rehashed death star. If it didn't and it retired no doubt price would of went up. It's alot easy for people to look back and say "what an idiot emazers is" or "can't wait to see how emazers is after buying 50 deathstars etc" but he's got the guts to go in deep, no guts no glory.3 points

yes should be the online deals minus the doorbusters. A lot of the stuff isn't even in stores. There are some other minor stuff like keychains, accessories and stuff but just did the sets and stuff that would be of most interest. Some decent stuff with the Globe factored in. Some that should be good holiday flips in fact with low stocks already and limited availability. The doorbuster stock might surprise you compared to past years too. I know some stores are sitting on pretty high numbers of some of the sets. All the recent 40-50% online sales are taking a toll on store sales so you can expect to see better selections. someone is paying attention...3 points

A big thank you Exciter for having the affiliate links in your signature. It's easy for me to track you, or your brethren, down and click the links. Due to Kmart changing the VIP system, I became a silver and almost gold, and I immediately used my 100% back in points. Under the "who else but Kmart" 75919 I. Rex Breakout - $105.34 Use $50.36 in points Earn $61.10 in points. Cost - $59.xx out of pocket plus over $10 back in points. Yeah... Kmart definitely made money on that sale.3 points

I believe it was midnight Thanksgiving morning. I got a few of them that way and than they were sold out and I had to head to the store to get more when they opened that evening. Thank god I don't have to do it this year. Only thing that interests me to get me out are a few target deals on Changing season. .2 points
