Used Grand Emporium and Pet Shop for $120. I need to buy minifigs and instructions.6 points

First time ever I had someone from this forum (active member, but I won't call him out) say to me after a purchase "hey, aren't you from BP?" Recognized his handle here when he mentioned it, and said I'd have gladly knocked a buck off the $5 minifig he bought had I known - was willing to do a partial refund as well. He basically said "nah, don't sweat it, it was a fair price." Just some cool BP camaraderie, and made for a highlight amongst my last 250 or so eBay transactions.5 points

My Targets even have a cardboard piece that juts out from the shelf highlighting this one, taunting me that it hasn't been available for less than RRP.3 points

Ya it was $5200ish for dollars and the piece count was right around 22k. it was the biggest part out to date for us. Paid my son $200 for his help. Took us about 10 hours total I would say. Very proud of him!! ( proud papa moment)3 points

Lego Glasgow Didn't buy it as already got one. Also trying to save money as bought too much recently from tesco 3 for 2. SC should do well once retired but I just don't like buying big exclusives as I have limited storage space. I also prefer to buy small - medium size sets instead of exclusives as prefer to sell after shorter period instead of long hold.2 points

All I can say is that Brexit gave me several amazing deals, I've been ordering more from the UK than from anywhere else since then. It is a damn bold move to vote leaving the biggest economic area if an economy's whole USP are services in that very economic area. But as long as it makes my Lego purchases cheaper... who am I to judge?2 points

Honestly some of you guys need to lighten up. Are you a reseller or are you a Lego nut? Lego nuts tend to be irrational and get bent out of shape if someone says "Legos". A deal is a deal. No reason to call it "crap". I've stated it before: Lego brick quality is not what it used to be. And your prized UCS sets often use stickers instead of printed pieces. Lego has turned into the Apple of toys. A cult brand with too many followers who are judgmental and close minded to any and all alternatives.2 points

I volunteered to go to go to my parents house to hand out halloween candy and I brought along a treat. I finished bag 1 there and bag 2 last night back home. It's nice but unremarkable (dat ass!). I liked some of the building techniques used for the back window and some of the panels but I REALLY didn't like building the first third of the set, it was incredibly boring. It's still worth the $45 net that I paid for it and it also functions as Christine while the trick or treaters head to my hotel.2 points

Judging future performance on past sets doesn't mean much nowadays with so many resellers + production runs etc, but looking at the previous ideas sets i came to conclusion that non IP sets are less than 1 year, and licensed sets are between 1-2 years All data taken from brickset for UK dates, for current sets not retired I've used todays date as an end date Non IP sets: Hayabusa - 21101 160 Exo-Suit - 21109 277 Research Institute - 21110 184 Birds - 21301 291 Maze - 21305 215 average duration = 225 days Mars rover excluded as that was actually a limited release, no data for first ideas set submarine japan release Licensed sets Minecraft Micro World: The Forest - 21102 837 The DeLorean Time Machine - 21103 429 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 - 21108 885 The Big Bang Theory - 21302 459 WALL-E - 21303 428 Doctor Who - 21304 337 562 average duration = 562 days Yes some of the values are obscured because of 1/2 sets, but this is hardly a detailed analysis I obviously waste too much time thinking about this.2 points

My FLL team needed narrower wheels for its robot. I looked at BL first, but then, by stroke of genius, realized I could benefit from the situation and purchased 42036 - for me to build, then the team takes the wheels, and after the tournament I get them back . Nice machine, a couple of really tricky connections but otherwise a quick build.2 points

Having a banner Sunday-Monday in sales, I walked up to my local USPS with a box of 33 packages weighing over 20 pounds at 6am. Plan was to slip as much as I could into the drop box this morning on my way to work, then the rest on my way home. Gal inside saw me approaching and came and unlocked the door, offering to take it. I thanked her profusely, and she was all "No problem at all, happy to help, you keep us in business, and better than filling up the drop box". Offered to bring her a coffee or something for making the generous exception, she politely declined, and said she's always there at 6am so I can just give a knock if I even have an early drop off of more than will fit in the drop box. Not really an Ebay buyer "feel good" story, but a pretty good experience all the same2 points

The store calendar shows the weekend before Thanksgiving being exclusive early access to Brick Friday deals for VIPs so that sounds like the special event has been replaced with a special weekend for everyone. I'd say they're in need of some revenue.1 point

Short story: I bought one Yellow Submarine with the Toy Soldier Ornament (to sell off) Long story: My wife was going to the mall today with our 1 month old to do some clothes shopping so I asked her to pick up a Yellow Submarine for me with my VIP points (seemed as good a time as any to use them up). I sent her a text pic of the Yellow Submarine set and a pic of my account with the VIP # in big numbers to make it easy for her to pass the info along to the cashier (my e-mail is too cumbersome as I have a very long last name, so I try to simplify it by using the VIP #). I explained to her that I have over $70 in VIP points and so she won't have to pay anything out of pocket. I then get a phone call in the middle of the day, with my irritated wife saying "They're telling me I have to pay $15.00. You don't have enough points and I need to go nurse our daughter. What should I do?" So I told her to just pay whatever they want and I'll sort it out tonight. I get home, look over the receipt, and realize that they messed up one number in my VIP account (a 4 instead of a 7). Someone named Elijah. I feel awful because I picture a little 7 year old who was saving up his VIP points for something very special and now they're all gone because the cashier messed up 1 number. I ended up calling Lego customer service and they were able to take the points out of my VIP account and credit it back to Elijah. Looks like it's all settled now and the appropriate amount of points were removed from my account. Peace and love, peace and love.1 point

I am nowhere near heavy of a Beatles fan as many are yet still impressed by this in my opinion very faithful design. Though a number of people probably have not watched the source material's film, I cannot think of anyone who has never heard about The Beatles. Shoot, you can't take a basic music class without the band being spotlighted at least a little.1 point

It's half term here in the UK so my son and I had a SW marathon on TV whilst building this beast. Don't worry folks, it's the original!!1 point

Great points. My plan is to start small with flipping things I find cheap on CL, garage sales, etc...to build up money and learn the selling process. I usually only buy something if I can double my money. It's been a blast hunting for things and I've flipped a few used sets so far. I bought a used 8019 republic attack shuttle, 10192 medieval market village, and a few smaller sets for for $40 and my local flea market. boxes, instructions included and they were only missing a few pieces.1 point

A few thoughts as you begin your journey: 1. research. research some more.then do some more research before you really start buying. 2. buying is easy, selling is hard (and honestly, not nearly as much "fun" for most people). try selling some sets before going really heavy on buying. Nothing worse than dropping 10 thousand on inventory to discover that you literally hate and/or suck at the selling experience. 3. a set needs to increase about 40% over what you pay to cover ebay/amazon/bricklink/brickclassifieds/paypal fees, shipping, etc. so modest CAGRs of 8-10-15% look good on paper, but maybe only tell half the story.1 point
