  3. I married someone whose Venn diagram of interests with me doesn't have a huge overlap. She watches the Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars and I watch Supergirl and the Flash. I listen to 80s music she's firmly in today. She just never had an interest in the good stuff. Lol

  6. Hi there guys, I havent posted in a while but thats not because I haven't been building, I have just been away with work! I have a couple of builds to share with you starting with this... It is my recreation of the final scenes from Revenge of the Sith. As with all my MOCs I have kept this on a 16x16 base. Here it is in comparison to the actual scene from the film... Quite a fun build this, especially making the Death Star look like it is in the early stages of construction. And I loved the fact I could use the new style Vader and Tarkin (From A-Wing vs Tie Advanced set) as I think they are two really good looking mini figs. I took the figures off for these shots to show the detail on the panelling. Finally, It is impossible to resist as selfie! As always I hope you enjoy and any feedback would be greatly appreciated! More builds on the way!

  17. One thing to keep in mind about all of these discounts on exclusives is that we are now in an environment where there are a lot more people tuned in to the potential of these types of sets and they are likely to be hoarded to a much greater degree than any in the past. Add in discounting on them and that is likely to accelerate. Personally, I'm done with the large exclusives after watching the prices of many of my recent purchases languish below 2x RRP after EOL.

  24. Just watched this interesting and informative video about some of the current and recent Lego licenses and how they had been used by other construction brands in the past. Of special interes, Doctor Who, Yellow Submarine and Scooby Doo.

  28. Just for people that picked these up at retail. Some of us remember the days of exclusives being on discount. I fondly recall $119 FBs.

  30. "Saying stole is just too easier"...? Just2Good lost some street cred with this video. He repeatedly stats that TLG "stole the license". As we all know a toy manufacturer must "purchase" license rights to manufacture a toy line based on that license/franchise. LEGO simply won the license. I actually do not see any issue with multiple toy manufacturers with the same license. Perhaps there's an "exclusive license" for toy manufacturers as well. Either way. I've seen better from Just2Good.

  31. It depends on the set. Popular sets that sell out at retail can be very profitable. Retired sets can have dips due to more people selling around the holidays (a good example is haunted house at halloween). Basically if your flipping new sets xmas can be very profitable, if selling retired sets it won't matter much or may be better to wait until Jan when gift cards are getting spent.

  32. When it comes to Star Wars UCS I'd rather donate to a resellers profit margin for a back catalogue UCS set than give Lego money for AoH. I'm resigned to the fact that as a bit of a completionist I'll have to pick it up at some point but I'm exhausting all other options first and waiting for a deep discount.

  37. Great price - But with all these "great" sets finding their way to 20% off or more, it might not really be such great news.

  38. if you can't make profit, any "buy in" is meaningless

  39. the point is...the game has changed drastically...many will get weeded out...just because something goes on sale doesn't make it an automatic buy...this is 2016/17 not pre-2013

  40. It is up to every person to choose their own path. There are many ways to skin this cat. Decide what you think it best and go with it. No one on here has a crystal ball or roadmap to Lego profits in the future. And only @exciter1 has a time machine and he's stingy with it. Good luck! EDIT: Let's get back to the purpose of this thread and discuss other topics elsewhere. I'm trying not to be the problem

  43. Many adult collectors stop buying for themselves around Christmas (to spend on others) & most kids want what they see in commercials. So for sales of rare pricey Lego sets, I always notice changes - although if someone is a flipper, it's likely a great time. The Christmas holidays will always bring the most overall sales (and headaches) - I much prefer the Jan, Feb post Christmas period.

  44. Dropped by a Kmart I've never been to before. They where doing the additional 50% clearance sale but I didn't really see anything that caught my eye. (Besides a 2013 coast guard set that was still $19.99) ended up grabbing: Lewa master of jungle $7.00 (additional 50% off $14.00) x2 Olafs summer fun $1.99 each (BOGO free, manager had to override... Just like last week) used $3 in surprise points & $2.50 in regular points. Got out for around $6

  46. Morning all from the UK. After listing for 5 weeks on Ebay I sold my mint 10179 (not first edition) and delivered it personally. I did have to drive an 8hr return trip to London but I think that my item description of me delivering personally, as I would not put on a delivery truck worked in me selling greatly. The diesel only cost me £50 which was cheaper than insured delivery. Im not here to gloat but only to let you guys know you can possibly get £4.5k for yours too ;-) I always wanted to keep mine for ever but starting my new business ment me freeing up some money sadley. Cheers guys, Steve.
