  2. Guys, aren't there all kinds of topics out there, where you can discuss this? This is still the Deals topic, right?

  8. I've 3 of these myself and stopped when I came to my senses that this one is will be a dog in post EOL performance if you've bought in at RRP. Even with your double VIP and freebie. Long-term, might be different story but the CARG gods are unsympathtic to this hymn. Blind faith in the old blue-chip UCS investment is a symptom of that classic human weakness - denial. Denial that every newly devout, hopeful-eyed gold-seeker hasn't listened to the preachings of the infallible word of the Order of Star Wars UCS and embraced this with the fervant zeal only an aspirant untempered by godforsaken returns on heavy investment in recent UCS can have, I have seen the light myself and praise be to the hallelujah of cheaper sets at better discounts that will generate the same or greater returns more rapidly in the short-to-medium term for the same offerings to those monolithic UCS boxes. Of course the guy who picked one up in Walmart for $17 earlier this year might disagree but we can't all be lottery winners.

  18. About a week ago Lego sent an email out for the kids club that had instructions for this little vampire build. He goes great with the tru Frankenstein from today. I didn't have all the pieces for the vampire, but it was easy to modify a little bit. https://www.lego.com/en-us/club/member/building-instructions/details/dracula-f492b1e7a15e4dd9bc6d9321ab29fd45

  19. The only retirement behaviour I like is when sets go quietly à la Villa Savoye, RE or La Ferrari. Anything with Limited time only, retiring soon or other marketing tools to attract the horde like a bull to a red rag are not good.

  21. Hello everyone. I am somewhat new to the site but have been a member for about two years. I have been going to school working on a master's degree in computer science, work full time, and have a family. I keep pretty busy and have not had time to really sit down and post comments on this website or work on Lego reviews, etc. I am in my last semester of school and the semester is winding down giving me more free time that what I was expecting with this being the last semester. I am an avid Lego fan. I have a variety of sets that make up my personal collection. The most recent sets I have purchased have been the Star Wars Rogue One waive, excluding the buildable figures. My favorite Lego line is Star Wars but I also like Lego's Marvel/DC line of Superhero sets, especially the Marvel Cinematic Universe sets. When it comes to Lego if there is a set I think I want I will try to buy it if possible. I also recently purchased two modular buildings, the Parisian Restaurant and the Bank. These are the first two modular buildings I have purchased in the modular building line. I have had a lot of success with the little I have done in terms of investing and selling in order to support Lego as a hobby. Hopefully this trend continues down the road. I hope to get more time to post on this website. I like this site and look forward to learning more about Lego investing in general.

  23. As a business seller I'm pretty sure bulk of my seasonal sales (Sep-Dec) are for presents. Showing as a top rated business seller with 100% feedback, premium service and no fuss return service - IMO this has to be more attractive to potential buyers than a private seller (many with no returns policy), especially when sell UCS sets for £££. Doing between £15-£20k a year sales, I have had 3 returns in past 3 years. If you set yourself up as professional as possible good profits can be made.

  30. I do not see any positive side to this 'retiring soon' tag. I have 3 Sandcrawlers. Which I thought I bought at a good discount. But now I fear the will be in my storage room for at least two years before making any significant profit. Longing back to the days when sets just silently retired overnight. IR is a set that sailed in an orderly fashion. I do not own any of those cause I waited too long. And I guess many more people missed this one. Which is an important ingredient for success.

  35. Here we go again. This is a September 2015 set, same as Tumbler a year back so it is fair game. Why retire it before the movie? Why retire HH before Halloween?

  36. Exactly, for any Lego brand store to mark ANYTHING down there has to be a pretty good reason.

  39. I doubt that. This set is no Death Star. Nowhere near as well-known. Assault on Hoth replaces Ewok Village and the new Snowspeeder replaces Sandcrawler. This would be the most logical thing to do (yeah yeah, I know what you're going to say). I do think we're going to see another AT-AT again soon, perhaps UCS. UCS Y-Wing is also a possibility if it's prominent in Rogue One.

  42. BTW, got to feel sorry for the folk that were paying full whack on SAH to get those IDEAS sets! 2x VIP plus 1 bus/calendar per order vs 50% direct discount, cashback and points. Hard one to choose, not. Going to be a Tumbleresque wait for them to see any profits until Quick Flip UK and Germany have finished after all those Tesco and Galería promos.

  43. Meh. Unlike Tower Bridge, this one doesn't display easily on a shelf. And while I'm a fan of Modern/Expressionist architecture, SOH in Lego form just isn't very appealing. But buy up buttercup.
