For the most part, I will stay out of this and let the next release do the talking for itself. If you chose pay anything, that is up to you. No one will think less of you (except maybe Ed). In the end, I feel that whoever does want to take the plunge will be happy they do so. Maybe you will be interested in full BrickLink price guide / Brickfolio integration Maybe people who are premium members may continue to get 0% fees in Brick Classifieds when its brought into BrickPicker Maybe premium members will get daily updates to their Brickfolio Maybe premium members will get their own premium forum section Maybe premium members will see a lot more in the price guide Maybe premium members will be able to tag their Brickfolio listings to go into separate Brickfolios Maybe there will be access to Lego items from over 600 retailers globally and 150,000+ Lego items to look through. Maybe there is more... @xeeeej it doesn't matter whether it peaked or not, it's however you handle your own business and find any of the new tools, data important to you. If you find it to not be of value, then no loss to you whatsoever. You just use the site as it is now and that's it. Others may appreciate certain things that may make their life in Lego investing a little better or save them time, fees, etc. Look at YouTubeRed, people pay more than $10/month to not have ads in their videos. They say up to 5% are subscribers which leads to 100-200 million subscribers. It's not for everyone, but obviously some find it more important to get passed those ads ASAP. If 10 people chose to do it, so be it. It's not like I am hurting myself. It's my time that I chose to put into it. I hope that people will like it and find value in it. I also will look to these members for the features that they want most. If they are the ones willing to put money into it because they are serious about it, then for me, it's nice to know there is an active audience that will really use the new features developed for them.7 points

I started my first modular build last night. So far, I'm a fan. My daughter also loved it when she came down for breakfast before school. I'll probably try to get through he rest of book 1 during the Cubs game tonight.6 points

Today, we are happy to report that our second book "The Collectible LEGO Minifigure: Values, Investments, Profits, Fun Facts, Collector Tips" is now available for purchase. This was a fun book to put together since we were able to work with the Lego community to obtain fun photos of Lego minifigures in action. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing winners of the contest that we had when we first introduced that this book will be published. The first review of the book has been published by Huw over at Brickset and he states that "Nevertheless, it is a fascinating book that will appeal particularly to minifigure collectors." Huw Millington and Dr. Dave Watford have always been supporters and friends to our site, even early on when building a solid reputation was difficult. We appreciate everything that they have done for us and their awesome site is what got me back into LEGO collecting. Here are a few screen grabs from the inner pages of the book. Order your copy today!!!! View full blog article4 points

Bought a Pick-A-Brick wall's worth of parts yesterday. Managed to bring home over 500 parts, including 128 4x4 plates that I need for my Halloween Town and Fairground. I'm finally (after talking about it for a couple of years now), going to start building these things out.4 points

Kmart has selected Hanes briefs and crew neck t shirts with 9$ in SYWR back in points, the points are rolling but you have to pay more than 0.01 oop I don't wear briefs, but it works on the boxers too. If you go commando, you'll have to flip them flapjacks.4 points

In my opinion, it's about 18 months too late to start charging for premium content here. Investing in Lego has peaked, and I think you waited too long to cash in on the frenzy. I know that was (supposedly) never your goal, but trying to cash in now will probably just drive people away at a higher velocity. If you can find someone to buy the site from you while traffic is still decent, that is probably the better play. Best of luck.4 points

I came here to look up set values (2 years ago), registered because I wanted to try my hand at reselling (1yr ago), stayed because of the atmosphere, the comraderie and of course the heads-up on good deals. Even if I were to only buy for personal use, or, name-your-deity-forbid stop buying LEGO altogether, I'd still hang around just because of the banter. Happy to see that the banter is being recognized as a raison-d'etre for this site3 points

They'd be doing him a favour... the insurance claim might be worth more than what he can sell them for after fees.3 points

I know it's Wikipedia, but go to... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_square Then down to the urban planning section. As mostly rectangular, it is a square when talking about a public space where people can hang out. All over the world these places are referred to as squares regardless of physical dimensions. Hint, the origin is from a German word.3 points

I am a bit surprised by all the negative opinions on this one - I really like it (looks like a fun set).3 points

Just got the book today. Oh man..... One of the best visual-looking books I've gotten. I'd go so far to say it's better than the official Lego books. I only took a quick glance at it, but it has sooooo many good photos. So much information. It'll definitely keep me busy for the next couple of days. I so love it!2 points

I like it. And don't think ANY modular should be flashy. This introduces some variety into the street layout without dominating it.2 points

I already did and was present at the meeting when the Lego board members tried to decide which modular is going to be retired this year. The discussion something like that:2 points

Before Assembly Square was seen I bought PR for personal build just in case they go for another out of step retirement.2 points

You might still get them if they have a lot of stock. Let us know. Did you decide to buy them on a whim after the Assembly Square announcement? If so, it´s a marketing stroke for TLG and there will be a lot of new modular addicts chomping up the old stuff while they wait till 1st Jan.2 points

In a shop. Problem is it was so long ago that the CAGR is the same as for someone that is buying now with 2x VIP. I´m sorry, I didn´t read that part of your original post. If it´s to build then, why not? Probably better to space the orders out a bit to ensure you get 2 buses.2 points

It's a nice enough modular, but not surprisingly I'd say it's overpriced by about $30-40. It's 1.5 modulars. I really wish TLG would just stop with the advertising rhetoric when describing their recent releases. It has some cool details, but it isn't really impressive overall, in my opinion. It doesn't appear to be any type of celebration of 10 years other than it's the most expensive.2 points

Could you send us a pic or list of the sweeps ? 8,000 points ! I'm lucky to get 750 points. What am I doing wrong ? Please share. Please.2 points

Looks good. Lego is putting out SO MANY big sets now. Where are they going to find the shelf space?2 points

I'd like to see the math on that. I'm guessing you have to narrow your choices to the absolute optimum $50 purchase in order to make that 45% discount real. Also, the 20% off sounds good in theory, but in-store (where the promo is) many of the shelf prices in my store are marked up 10%. But if your store, and your buys are working for you, then good. For the items I'm interested in, it's a tepid discount. 'Course it's possible the smart ones may be those that are collecting and holding the promos. From what I hear here, many stores are running out of these in the first days. If they don't make more, they could be highly valued someday... but just look like some generic, random figs to me :/1 point

LOL...I think what you fail to realize is that it was never about "cashing in." The site makes enough money to support itself, but it doesn't support Jeff and I in any way, shape or form...which is sad due to the effort put into it. It's about a LEGO passion that I have and a passion for programming that Jeff has. The one thing that I will be eternally grateful for is that this site and LEGO raffle enabled us to raise $62,000.00+ for my son's school last year and that alone makes the effort worthwhile in my opinion. What's funny is this topic has come up multiple times over the years (more than 18 months ago for sure) and the comments were the same then as now. People want this. People want that. People want free. I get it. As a real world example, in my "real" business, I tried giving away free vacuums to wash CUSTOMERS for the past two years as a perk to existing customers and to drum up new business. What happened? Freeloaders and non-customers filled the vacuum slots and pissed the paying customers off, thus forcing me to get rid of them. Our original idea was great for awhile, then things changed. Garbage went up, wear and tear on equipment increased, electricity went up and traffic increased to the point where people would not come in for a wash or oil change because they couldn't get in the lot. I couldn't even promote the free vacs anymore for fear of making the situation worse. Traffic is great for a business or website, but the quality of traffic is what pays the bills. Times change. Cost change. We either adapt or die. I believe people will pay for premium service and convenience if its worth it. There will always be a free component to the site that is valuable and worthwhile to visit and utilize. This site is more than "investing and reselling" LEGO sets. It's also about LEGO sets and saving money buying them. Many members could care less about reselling and collecting sets. They want to buy them at a fair price and build them...like they should be. Whether LEGO reselling has peaked can be debated (and is debated in other threads), but if it has peaked, data and information can be the difference for those who still dabble in the LEGO reselling business and hobby. But for those who just want a place to hang out for awhile and get some useful information and banter, it will still be here and be free.1 point

Thread resurrection! I was sorting out a few bits and pieces of kids stuff I'd bought for Christmas and I found this set - I paid £20 for it.1 point

Sorry, I'm not buying the modulars to sell - I was talking about the buses. Will probably just try and sell for £20 each.1 point

Well, I agree. Affiliate money is decreasing and costs are increasing. All your points are valid. First the update...then we can work on your points. The new update looks very slick. The Brick Classifieds will be brought directly to this site and that looks stunning. We are going to have a huge LEGO store with hundreds of retailers. We have been discussing all these options. There is a ton of data out there to be had and in order to share it, we will probably charge for it.1 point
