I did some Ninjago building (Tiger Widow Island/The Lighthouse Siege) and just finished 70594. The minifigures are not my cup of tea. There's two exceptions though with one being Wu (which I already had from his own dragon set) and the other being Echo Zane (without his hairpiece). The small robot Tai-D is neat, too. Also, the Lighthouse Siege is a set where the light-brick function really shines (pun intended).4 points

Hello LEGO fans... After months of discussion about fake, counterfeit, knockoff, illegal, garbage, and crap sets and companies, the BrickPicker administration and moderator team have decided to remove this discussion completely from the BrickPicker forums. I had hoped that people could discuss these topics in a mature manner, without promoting them, but that failed miserably. It is unfortunate that there is a small, but vocal, group of people who support these illegal products and will try to push these products at any given chance. For whatever reason, they consider these products legitimate. BrickPicker does not... THIS IS A LEGO FAN SITE and will remain so. While we approve of discussions about compatible and legitimate brands like Mega Bloks for example, any discussions about intellectual property stealing companies like Lepin or others will be removed and members might face suspension or permanent ban from this site. We are not alone in this type of topic restriction. Eurobricks implemented a similar policy and I quote (from their site)... Remember: Eurobricks is a LEGO fan site, thus we want most topics here to be LEGO related. If you find you are posting mostly non-LEGO topics then maybe you have picked the wrong site. Clone and Competitor Brands: A Clone brand or competitor brand, is a product manufactured by a legitimate company. For Example Oxford,Mega Blocks. Kreo or Character Building. These are companies that do not infringe copyrights and provide a competitor product, such as licenses and themes LEGO do not produce. It is fair to discuss, compare and share these brands and their products in the Community section of the Forum. Bootlegs, Rip-Offs and Fakes: These manufacturers copy designs and minifigures from LEGO, other companies and even fans, to produce their own infringing products which they then sell, often at knock down prices. There are hundreds of names attached to these products and varied quality between them. We will no longer accept discussion and sharing of these products on Eurobricks. Most of these "brands" are facing legal cases and we have no interest in supporting them by providing a place for their criminal products to be seen. I applaud the administration of Eurobricks for installing such a policy and I ask other major LEGO fan sites to follow suit. We are all here for the love of LEGO sets and bricks and these knockoff products not only endanger the LEGO secondary markets, but the primary one as well. On a personal note, I am sorry it took so long for me to realize that discussing these illegal products was bad for our site and LEGO fans in general. The supporters of these counterfeit and knockoff products will have to discuss them on some other site, hiding in the shadows. Thank you for your time... Ed Mack3 points

After coming back from a harsh 2,5 weeks in Nigeria I decided to buy myself a present....the S.H.I.E.L.D. HeliCarrier....YES! I really wanted to have this one in my collection and the double VIP + London Bus pulled my trigger. I was having doubts, or this magical vehicle OR the Sydney Opera House,,,,but due to my aviation background I decided to buy the Avengers ship!3 points

With Halloween approaching, I built this with my 7 year old daughter. Picked up a new in sealed box along with a new Townhall about a month ago. I was hesitant to open it since it was my only copy, but what the hell. It's only money! Build was okay, quite different from the typical modulars I've built. Now I have to incorporate this to the rest of my buildings. Oh, my daughter loves the play features of this set, especially the ladder function.3 points

New rumor starting floating around today: 10255 - Assembly Square Celebrating Modular Buildings 10th Anniversary The ultimate modular building. Complete details will be shared once D2C has officially unveiled the product. This will probably happen in November 2016. Campaign will be created to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Modular Building line. Launch Date: 4/1/2017 (April 1 or January 4?) EDIT RRP: 2699 (probably in Danish Krone, which is around $150-$160 $400 USD. No picture of the actually item; picture will be released in November.2 points

Additionally, there's a press release coming from LEGO tomorrow morning. We don't know what the content is, but some speculate it might be related to this.2 points

I bought mine for $103 from Jet and I still can barely make a profit on these right now. Great set and $125 is good for personal build, but not for resale.2 points

Man, last year I was all over the Bricktober stuff. I haven't stepped foot in a TRU this month. The deals seem weaker and the minifig packs don't thrill me.2 points

Exactly. How much higher are these going to go? I mean, I look at the Republic Gunship as an example. It's risen about 15 dollars over the last year. I've held on to my last 2 but I just don't see them going much higher. Same goes for the AT-AT. I could see it rising up to around 280 or so during the peak rush of the holiday season ,but after that period it will probably drop once the holiday gate is lifted, and then it will slowly stagnate with not as much interest until next holiday season. At that point, there's a point where you got to figure when is the best time to cut the chord. Sure you might miss out on 15.00, maybe even 30.00, but in the end you can use that money to reinvest into something else that might net you 50% back the next year.2 points

That´s around 40 sets if it´s all true so we can expect quite a few retirements going forward.2 points

List of summer 2017 sets. 11 set numbers are missing so I expect these will be Ep 8 and OT remakes that are being kept confidential. There are always two sides to every story and free or fee is a difficult decision for Jeff and I to make. I wish that affiliate advertising was through the roof so it wouldn't be a question, but it is not. eBay and Target has cut their affiliate programs to practically nothing. TRU never gave anything. Plus there is competition from dozens of other sites. Everybody has links. The data is expensive. Server costs and fees paid to other programmers/services suck up the rest. We might not have a choice. Anyway, I'm not here for sympathy, just being honest because the topic was brought up. On a positive note, the new version of the site looks wonderful. New price guide page with all sorts of data. New Daily Deals. The Classifieds looks tremendous. It all just pops. Jeff is getting better with age.2 points
-
Well, I agree. Affiliate money is decreasing and costs are increasing. All your points are valid. First the update...then we can work on your points. The new update looks very slick. The Brick Classifieds will be brought directly to this site and that looks stunning. We are going to have a huge LEGO store with hundreds of retailers. We have been discussing all these options. There is a ton of data out there to be had and in order to share it, we will probably charge for it.2 points

I agree. I'm going once per week because I regret not getting all the minifig packs from...2013? The first two this year are my favorite, the last two not so much, but I still want them.1 point

Hello from Belfast! I'm more for buying to build and display, in saying that I make sure my box and instructions are kept in excellent order should I ever decide to sell my collection. I do have a few pieces that I have bought to sell but it's minimal.1 point

I for one, am not ashamed to admit that unless they hit 75% off, I will not be investing in any Angry Birds sets. And even then I might be skeptical.1 point

Same here. 5 year old son has an unopened castle he got from grandma (I wouldn't buy any AB sets!) He built 2 of the smaller sets but that was when they first came out. Now he's like "meh" and will grab other sets to build first like Ideas Birds or Minecraft.1 point

Bought a 17 lbs lot of bricks from Goodwill the other day. For some reason, they shipped FedEx overnight, so I had them right away. (Go figure, I didn't pay for that). Total price paid for the lot (with shipping) was $60. I bought it because this was in the lot: That's a yellow Train Base 6 x 28 with 3 Round Holes Each End. It has appeared in only one set - 10133 - Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) GP-38 Locomotive. The part alone has been selling for about $30 on BL lately. I haven't had time to look through the lot, but even if I just sell that one part I'm still pretty golden on 17 lbs of bricks for $30. I've got a feeling it might all be there, though. I've already spied wheels and the magnets sitting near the top of the box.1 point

I like buying complete sets of minifigures via Bricklink. I have quite some complete sets of Disney and dfb and will put them on ebay during Christmas I think. I think I'll sell half of the sets for double the money I payed. That way I have my money back and can put the rest in longterm storage.1 point
