I wouldn't waste my time with calling LEGO. They'll just tell you to return it. Much more of a hassle than anything. If you're building, no biggie. If you're selling, no biggie.5 points

We would need this set to even come close to the popularity in the US.5 points

Yeah, same here, but I'm not sure if it really matters much. Lego sales especially are all over the place this year.. some stock is either moving slowly, other stock just sits there not moving, or certain things are moving well. It's evident to me that lego's growth period has hit a wall. Last year a lot of things were moving at this time. I think it would be in lego's best interest to make less sets, but focus on quality over quantity. They really should cut back on what they produce by at least 30%... It's becoming EVIDENT!5 points

I think it is becoming very clear that there are way too many people investing in Lego on the whole at the moment. Even when you think you should have a winner there are just so many people willing to undercut as they need the money at that time or whatever else (maybe some people have access to free shipping etc). The stock that you have from before the media exposure of Lego investing is probably good to go in some/many cases, but afterwards, I think you're/we're struggling a bit on the whole. I've seen it mentioned many times that there are still wins to be had, and that's true, but on the whole it must be getting to the stage of people wondering what is the point of the effort of buying, storing, selling, posting for lower rewards or none at all. I was looking at the prices of Disney Minifig full sets earlier on Ebay and some dude in Germany was selling something like 80 sets at £7 lower than everyone else shipped into the UK (compared with UK internal prices). That wouldn't be too bad if the person was just selling a few and then the market could get on with it, but it will take absolutely ages to get to a point where the market starts adjusting upwards. I'll admit that due to my love of Lego as a child I noticed the article about 'Better than Gold' at the end of 2015 or whenever it was, so I admit that I am part of the problem to some extent. However, I'm not envisaging being in a position where I would be going lower than the lowest asking price on internet sites. Doing that is the main problem for everyone else involved. I work full-time and live quite happily with my parents so have a good expendable income each month which I have been putting into many sets for the last 10 months or so. It's comfortably within my budget and I still have room in storage. I don't NEED to sell anything and I'm prepared to wait a while to see how things go. The only things I've sold so far are easy quick flips like AntMan sets picked up at RRP several months ago and other sets and minifigs/mixels reduced to ridiculous prices in-store at supermarkets. I've done well on that front. I've got around 11k of stock at the moment at RRP, but I've paid a lot less than that as I've used the advice to wait for promo's etc. I would probably be a good case study for you guys to show what an average new brickpicker since late 2015 looks like. I can't do it tonight as I have to be up early tomorrow, but I could share a list of the sets I've picked up and the prices paid. Obviously, most of the sets I've bought are still awaiting retirement but the signs I've seen in the last few months and the amount of other sellers is slightly alarming. I can hold on to my stuff for as long as it takes (as I really do see the bul of my stuff as investment firstly), but I'd be worried if I was spending money I couldn't afford to and hoping to see a lot of profit from it in the near future. There are too many people at this at the moment. That's not to say that there isn't money to be made now and in the future (sure there is), it's all about playing your cards right I suppose. I'm just wondering if it's worth it for most people at the moment.4 points

Unless you like beating yourself up about selling too early, since it will show you the current buy box price compared to your last selling price.4 points

I think TLG is producing way too many new lines and keeping sets available for far too long. TLG sales have been horrible this year and all of those new lines cost a bomb to develop and distribute so they got hurt very badly this year with revenues stalling and costs skyrocketing. A few years like that in the toy industry and you don't survive very long. Keeping sets available for far too long and constant rehashes has also hurt the collectibility of this brand. The next few years are going to be very rough for this company. They cannot just stop on a dime and reverse course within 6 months. As for the secondary market Bezos is helping but people don't want to spend big bucks on a product that is not going to keep rising in value. TLG needs to take a loss on some fantastic short run limited sets to revive the secondary market and cut out the poor performers like angry birds, nexo, ninjago, elves etc. City also needs some new direction other than the constant rehashes. Going to be interesting to see if they are up for the challenge. The next 3 years is make or break time for this toy company. We are going to see mega sales on alot of stale product over the next few years.4 points

So I got a bite on amz last night. For any qfll noobs here's a math lesson. Item sale price + 479.99 shipping credit + 10.99 Set cost with NC tax - 376.24 fedex with sig to Oregon - 29.36 Amazon fee - 74.67 Profit $10.71 This does not include packing costs (fyi the 10188 shipping carton works great). Hi Folks. I'll do the same as last year (copying Mos' original idea) to support the children of NJ's St. Paul School. For each "LIKE" THIS SPECIFIC post gets, I'll put $1 toward the raffle. Thanks, JA Is Online4 points

I do not have a non-profit tax ID; I have a regular corporation tax ID. I said I donate LEGO to schools and non-profit groups, not that I was one myself. LEGO approved my tax exemption and there is no option to opt-out of it for orders I place with my personal debit card, so I'm not going to jump through a bunch of hoops and spend an hour on the phone with them every time I want to place an order without tax exemption. So sure, if you consider using their tax exemption system the way the website forces me to use it then yes I am abusing it.3 points

I think the majority of us here follow that philosophy, assuming that if you like a set / have a good feeling about it, then others (future buyers) will feel the same way about it too. That being said, I think the Ewok Village is a brilliant set. Highly detailed, both playable and displayable, instantly recognisable to anyone who has seen Star Wars Episode VI, and as said above: a core set that other Episode VI sets can be grouped around to expand the display. Sets like the Shuttle Tydirium and the AT-ST for example...3 points

Let´s face it, SW is a bunch of self important tripe with no logical beginning or conclusion and is just a big commercial barrel that is being scraped and refilled with ever more rancid milk. Fast and Furious for Sci Fi geeks. Exactly because of that, it is a collector´s goldmine and literally anything OT is/has or will be worth something to someone at some stage. You´d have to be out of your mind to pay 5000 euros for a bunch of plastic just because it resembles some sort of flying saucer with a salt shaker for a cockpit but people do. This is Olivia´s treehouse for grown-ups with too many notes in their pockets so I say it will do just as well.3 points

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Having built this set and being a huge SW fan I found this set hugely appealing !!! The attention to detail in relation to the film is great and it is one of my favourite builds of late. Yes it can be classed as a 'play set' however I still think it is a great display piece, and it always gets the most positive comments when I show people my display collection. Personally I think this will do just fine.3 points

Sold my 2 5002123 Revans today on BL for $25 plus shipping each. Comparable with $30+ on EBay in terms of profit. Not bad for a 2x $5 investment.2 points

Sometimes it does depend on who says it and sometimes it depends on how it was said. If a jerk says it like a jerk, they should expect backlash. We all know Val-E is down on LEGO investing at the moment so he's getting cut some slack I guess (or people are ignoring his statement).2 points

I provide LEGO to local non-profits and schools for educational purposes and I use the same business account for things I resell, so anything I buy on their website automatically has the tax exemption applied to it since my LEGO Education account does.2 points

The Lepin-ites. Yes, we get it. You're all wetting your beds you're so scared of the big-bad knockoffs. Stop derailing threads or just stop posting on this site. We get it. No one has their "head in the sand". We understand your point, and just like every other opinion on every single other thread, every individual is free to act on that information however they see fit. Thanks for the tip, now move the eff along and contribute something new. Or don't and just leave. I don't mind either way.2 points

A little burnout I think, nothing hot, no "LEGO Movie", etc. I don't think "LEGO Batman: The Movie" will increase their bottom line much. Batman is too saturated already. It seems like the response to "Rogue One" products are meh right now, not just the LEGO stuff. You could find the entire line of figures in abundance for BOGO 40% off the week of release and they weren't moving. Thankfully, there are plans for more Star Wars movies the next 5-10 years to keep the fans happy. The casual fans are getting some burnout, I think. It feels like 1983 all over again and clearance season will be fruitful. Although, the stuff might not sell very well for another 20 years. LEGO needs an update to the Mindstorm line really bad they need to come up with some new flagship to get people excited. I think a new ship or something exciting for the POTC line will go a long way and "LEGO Movie 2" should get the ball rolling again, if it doesn't suck.2 points

So, I ordered 3x 50ct plastic cups during the 100% office supply deal a couple weeks ago for about ~$24. I'm on the max trial, and it said I saved $105 in shipping cost. That's a bit exaggerated, I thought. Yesterday my order came, three large boxes arrived, 1000ct each. Don't know what happened there. Double checked, clearly says 50 on the invoice. Best thing was my wife has been desensitized by the constant flow of Kmart boxes. When I tried to explain it wasn't my fault, I didn't order 3000 plastic cups, she said, "oh, I thought you must've gotten a really good deal on them." That's trust =)2 points

With Halloween approaching, I built this with my 7 year old daughter. Picked up a new in sealed box along with a new Townhall about a month ago. I was hesitant to open it since it was my only copy, but what the hell. It's only money! Build was okay, quite different from the typical modulars I've built. Now I have to incorporate this to the rest of my buildings. Oh, my daughter loves the play features of this set, especially the ladder function.2 points
