Hi guys, I have just finished another Star Wars MOC. This time I wanted to mess around with the idea of forced perspective and decided to recreate one of my favourite shots from Return of the Jedi. As with all my micro mocs I wanted to stick to the 16x16 base, which in this instance was quite a challenge but eventually I managed to find a way to fit everything I wanted into the scene. The colour palette choice for Jabba's Palace was partly based on the official lego sets of "Jabba's Palace' and 'Rancor Pit' especially the dark grey base for the Palace to sit atop but I decided to go with darker colours for the Palace itself similar to the actual scene from the film. Finally I have recently got hold of the Boushh mini fig (one of my favourites) and so wanted to incorporate her somehow. I then had the idea that Chewie and Liea would have walked the same route to get to Jabba's Palace and so changed the sky to a sunset scene to reflect the time of day they arrived at the Palace. Which do you prefer? C3P0 and R2 or Boushh and Chewie? Also I am thinking of doing some more scenes similar to this, incorporating micro builds and mini figs but wondered if people liked this style? Should I stick to the micro landscapes I have been building or do more scenes in this style?22 points

My conclusion from the last few pages of deals is that it's safe to go back to never paying more than 80% MSRP for exclusives, which is nice. My existing Pet Shop and Death Star stash will make a great tax writeoff someday. Any time I'm in danger of rising income taking away eligibility for an awesome tax credit or something, I can sell a few PS or DS and bam! problem solved.7 points

I think, for me, it looks too much like a "regular" prison, instead of the dark, gothic look we're used to for an Arkham / Gotham related building.4 points

I don't like it either. They went for the jail yard features but I hate it when expensive sets like this have so many stand alone mini builds. This isn't an advent calendar.4 points

20 Ewok Village at 186 each from Amazon 2 Disney Castles from LEGO Shop at Home 50 SW battle packs from Kmart, all paid for with points I've gotten over the last month or two Trying to find some smaller sets to buy; I seem to only be picking up the big expensive ones lately. I'm just not seeing much around me in the small and mid-size sets that looks like a good price.4 points

I would just like to point out the genius of discounting these exclusives for business users by Amazon. They know that the large majority of users buying these sets in such large quantities are highly likely to sell these on Amazon down the road... freeing up inventory space and making similar margins...3 points

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't like it. This looks more like Ms. Quinzels School for Psychopathic Adults.3 points

More to the story... spoke with my parents and they have two more that are still sealed up. Sets 955, which looks like a crane set, and also 8050, which looks like random things that can be made. Neat stuff, that's for sure. They mentioned that they actually got them all for me but then I started playing games like Hero's Quest and stopped playing with the bricks so they just held onto them hoping I would get back into them with my kids. Fun day that's for sure hearing the stories from them.3 points

I think there are a few reasons. Overall, enrollment in Catholic schools is down across the country. I think the economy plays a large part in that. It's hard to come up with an extra $5000.00 a year to pay for a school when public is free. St. Paul School used to have well over 300 kids in it, but the old nun who ran it well retired and a lousy principal took her place. Many families left because of this principal. Also, the old head priest of the local church and school was not engaged. A new, younger and active priest has taken over and has done wonders for the community. We also have a kick ass principal now who sets high standards and busts his butt for the school. He is from a large public school system and has really instituted some impressive programs. Last year as a Kindergartener, my son Max had Spanish, computers twice a week, art, music, gym twice a week. Public schools don't come close in many cases. I think what has also hurt was that even with the new principal and priest, there was always a feeling that St. Paul was a great school...but it might close, so some people were afraid to make a commitment. We liked the school so much, we said screw it, we will make it work. A lot of other families feel the same way. We picked up an additional 25 kids this year, which is great. If we can increase it next year another 25, we could be in good shape. As for the voting, they have won many awards and their graduates finish top of their class in many cases. Bottom line...it's money. Anybody with experience in Catholic schools know that tuition is only a portion of what you are asked to "donate." While I am not a over the top religious person, we chose St.Paul because of its programs and reputation. There are kids from all walks of life in the school. All types of nationalities and religions. They teach manners and respect and there is a sense of goodness that permeates through the school. It is worth fighting for once again. Believe me, the school community prayed last year for a miracle and the LEGO raffle delivered. They.....AND I...are grateful.3 points

You're really missing the point. These sets are based on a TV show called D.C. Super Hero Girls and the sets reflect the show. They are mini-dolls, which share the target demo of the show, little girls. I have a 5 year old who absolutely loves these and (surprisingly) didn't critique their choice of locations and vehicles. Except the helicopter. Even she knows Lego needs to stop with the helicopters3 points
