About 6 months ago, I decided to bricklink my first set, 3723 Lego Minifigure. Halfway through buying the pieces I needed, I found a modified version of 3723 with movable legs on Brickshelf. My first bricklinking project then morphed into my first semi-MOC. I also decided to change it up so it matches my 19" Lego Minifigure display. I'm pretty proud of myself with the end results. I do have to rework how the legs connect as the upper body is too heavy to do anything else but stand straight up or sit down, but I'm happy for now.19 points

My wife, who is finally starting to see my Lego hobby as something more than a precursor to some type of hoarding disease, was impressed that I had already sold the Disney Castle and several of the freebies, ~$150 profit after fees, in less than 24 hours from purchase. So when I joked about there being one more Day of the Star Wars celebration, she kind of liked the idea. So, after much deliberation, we went back. Scored well on all fronts except the TC-14s, which they were out of. But we made up for it. Here's today's haul: The TC-14s were the prize for a scavenger hunt, so I requested more A-wing pilots, which were the give always to annual pass members. I noticed that the emoloyees has the A wing pilots on their badges, so I traded the three junk figs we brought for brand new Pilots (my son kept one). Then my wife had the brilliant idea to buy some cheap minifigs and trade them. So I bought a 4-pack of Nexo Knights for $13.50 (plus the other stuff to get the free general), kept the accessories and traded them for four more Pilots. I love that woman. This time when we bought the castle the sales guy only gave us one general, so my wife stepped in, got the manager who was literally like 'how many do I have to give you to make you happy?' I said 3 my wife said 4, we left with 5.7 points

#1 I usually prescribe my patients 10mg Singulair tabs to add to their anti-histamine of choice (Allegra/Zyrtec/Claritin) when having severe episodes as it fights the allergic response cascade from a different angle. #2 If you're not using an inhaled nasal corticosteroid (Nasonex/Flonase) you might want to add this to the mix. Be patient as they typically require daily use for at least 10-12 days before they really start working. #3 Pataday/Patanol eye drops are a life-saver if you're having bad ocular symptoms #4 If you've been fighting this for more than a week, you may be developing sinusitis. I'd be particularly suspicious if you fever/chills/unrelenting headache/facial or sinus pain/really nasty nasal drainage. Just a bit of unsolicited medical advice. Go see your PCM if you're really sucking.5 points

Flipped my Disney Castle on BL for $440 already. Took less than 8 hours. I Priced it to move, and since its BL, I'll pocket for more than if I sold it on EBay for $500 free shipping. Also sold two FO generals and two A-wing pilots for $15 each, already. And a TC-4 for $12.4 points

I do think the modular theme has a long future, so I tend to agree. There are still so many different themes they can do and since they only make 1 a year, that helps from completely oversaturating the market. I don't care that there are 5 sets out right now. 3 years from now, more than likely 2 of those will be retired, and there will be 2 to 3 more on the market. By that point, the sellers that hold pet shop will be under 150, and I do agree that the overall modular theme will continue to grow in popularity. Lego Movie 2 could push it even further. I think this theme, the creator exclusive automobile theme, and the creator exclusive theme park will have a very active collectors market. Long term, your money is probably better here than in Star Wars and other themes. But, I do think there is a limit on the amount of people holding these and there's other factors at play. If Lego all the sudden were to make 2 sets a year, that could quickly start to oversaturate the market, or if they started rehash central... that would also ruin not only the third party market, but even start the downward spiral in the the collectible aspect of the theme(s). I doubt it gets to that point anytime soon though. Pet Shops, and even Palace Cinemas should be safe for some time. A rumored Hospital next year, that just keeps the wheel turning, and hopefully it's a big wheel because it will take a while to cycle back to these various themed buildings. A town still needs a post office, bakery, coffee shop, sushi bar, police station, dentists office, daycare, school, and an arcade. There's still a lot of time before they make it back to something like a pet shop.4 points

The brickfolio and price guide are getting a major kick in the butt and will finally be more of what I envisioned it being years ago. Much better integration between the other major sites, much more data at your finger tips, etc. Everything is changing. Daily Deals, Brickfolio, Price Guide, In Stock Alerts, Syncing, Brick Classifieds, on and on. It is finally feeling like one site, instead of a disjointed nightmare. And yes, i will have it in there for you to tag your collection, so only one brickfolio will be needed but you can tag the sets however you wish.3 points

I tend to not collect the rebels or clone wars sets. I stick to mostly collecting the movie sets, so this just continues my frustration, as there's nothing overly new and exciting to look forward towards. Except for the Rogue One wave, this past year was kind a weak, and the upcoming January's wave is kind of weak too. I'll have to reserve full judgement until the 3 rogue one sets, and the set with Lando in it comes to light, but overall these are all disappointing to me. I was at least expecting a bantha in the upcoming landspeeder, and they even cheaped out on that.2 points

In the last 20 hours I built the remainder of 6 sets. From those sets I only kept the parts I like while the other stuff will be sold or is already gone. 76046 Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle: The helicopter looks bulky but contains some nice green parts. 76026 Gorilla Grodd goes Bananas: I love the small transporter and Wonder Woman's invisible plane is nice model with all those clear pieces. 76025 Green Lantern vs. Sinestro: The set contains no stickers and the spaceship looks amazing. Great selection of parts in four different shades of green. 76050 Crossbones' Hazard Heist: Some great parts in dark orange plus other useful stuff like window frames, fence pieces and so on. 76041 The Hydra Fortress Smash: Some useful bricks and pieces... and I really wanted Quicksilver. 76058 Spider-Man: Ghost Rider Team-Up: The street corner is nice and the construction of Ghostrider's bike was a lot more interesting than I anticipated.2 points

My oldest (turning 9 this fall) asked me yesterday if Santa could bring him 7962 - Anakin's and Sebulba's Podracers. I really hate the "Santa can bring you anything you want because he has a toy workshop" approach... I have been trying to explain that Santa can make older LEGO sets, but not if he was the only kid that wanted it (which I presume he is) since it's too much effort to build a single toy. I've never been closer to telling him Santa doesn't exist.2 points

Yes I saw that afterwards but missed my 15 minute window to update and request a move !! Apologises. I have built them both and pictures already posted so don't want to repeat. In all honestly I was so ashamed that I parted with my money on these sets for investment and I didn't want anyone to know, so I posted it here so it would go over looked !! lol2 points

Can't compete with the 550. But sold my only one for 480 shipped via Ebay last week. Buy-In at 320 so I got round about 100€ which is ok for a 1 year hold and the desaster around this set I can live and move on with that. Now I'm out of the the DS game and maybe it's time to crawl some sand2 points

Managed to get my hands on a BNIB UCS BWing for £230. Was for my personal collection but tempted to hold on to it and flip it since my intention was always it good used versions for my personal collection but currently would struggle to find a good used one for much cheaper2 points

Brickset numbers can be misleading.13000 people owning a modular sounds like alot, but the majority of parents that buy sets for their kids or as parents don't use brickset e.g. 60047: Police Station is the current police station set from the city range, lego has frequently stated that the city set and in particular police station is extremely popular, yet this set which released start of 2014 only has the following brickset numbers: 3125 own this set, 1645 want it2 points

i have no idea why anyone would think modulars are declining in popularity. from brickset: Pet Shop - owned by 15,015 wanted by 4722 GE - owned by 13269, wanted by5669 Fire Brigade - owned by 11600, wanted by 5826 Palace Cinema - owned by 13089, wanted by 4667 Take a popular in demand star wars set doing well in the aftermarket - at at 75054 - owned by 6909, wanted by 4160 or not so well - 10188 - owned by 9722 wanted by 6976 Or how about a long lived creator expert set hoarded by many Tower Bridge - owned by 7629, wanted by 3702 I can't find any sets that are owned by more than 10000 people that aren't modulars. By my reckoning, Pet Shop is THE most popular LEGO set ever produced (15K have it, almost 5K want it) which says something about its intrinsic popularity and demand which is why I'm comfortable having 30 to help all the dark aged folk who don't know what they are currently missing. Seems to me the modular buildings are the most popular sets by a long shot. IMO, they are never going to retire this extremely lucarative theme.2 points
