  1. "Hey Lego guy, wait here, I got something in the back for ya" This definitely been the best clearance season for me in terms of managerial assistance, never hurts to be friendly with the staff! Had printed sticker dating back to june, so it had to have been sitting back there for at least that long.

  2. the first out of a big lot with Pirates, Castle. Space ("nostalgia" sets), SW (mostly clone), etc. I was so happy to find that I was "only" missing two pieces: front sail and one yellow inverted slope 1x2 :-)

  3. i have no idea why anyone would think modulars are declining in popularity. from brickset: Pet Shop - owned by 15,015 wanted by 4722 GE - owned by 13269, wanted by5669 Fire Brigade - owned by 11600, wanted by 5826 Palace Cinema - owned by 13089, wanted by 4667 Take a popular in demand star wars set doing well in the aftermarket - at at 75054 - owned by 6909, wanted by 4160 or not so well - 10188 - owned by 9722 wanted by 6976 Or how about a long lived creator expert set hoarded by many Tower Bridge - owned by 7629, wanted by 3702 I can't find any sets that are owned by more than 10000 people that aren't modulars. By my reckoning, Pet Shop is THE most popular LEGO set ever produced (15K have it, almost 5K want it) which says something about its intrinsic popularity and demand which is why I'm comfortable having 30 to help all the dark aged folk who don't know what they are currently missing. Seems to me the modular buildings are the most popular sets by a long shot. IMO, they are never going to retire this extremely lucarative theme.

  8. Once EV is gone I don't think we'll see anything like this for a long time. I am probably one of the biggest fan boys of this set - amazing piece IMO and something for everyone; one that has something for all the family and all ages. The play-ability is off the charts and it works well as a display piece. The closest thing there is to this really is battle of endor (and you cant really compare the 2 other then they're from the same film) - if anything gets refreshed it will be something more like that but given the size of the sets TLG is doing from the OT atm (and the larger sets being part of the new films/rebels) I'd say it would be a $50 set if anything. Not gonna touch this one. I cant help think that this one does stick around into 2017 though (and SC gets the retirement boot this year though). TLG does seem to be preferring more play set style sets. But its now become the second longest UCS style SW set available. Given Lego popularity now-a-days the old life-spans might mean less and less though.

  12. I love the garbage truck, but afraid it will take the same trajectory as the snow plow (because of it's popularity)... only $3 over MSRP almost a year after retirement.

  14. Well my local WM had no idea about that promo, they weren't participating.... but we did find this in the clearance for $30.00, only had one, box is beat up, but who cares for that price... my kid is telling me... "Dad, don't sell this one"

  15. Built 75141 Kanan's Speeder Bike today. I liked the build although the speeder bike itself looks a little bit oversized. As I didn't have all the original minifigures anymore I added Ezra and Chopper from the new "LEGO Star Wars Official Annual 2017" which was delivered this morning.

  16. Trying to get excited by this sale but the stuff im interested in is only 20% off TLG's falsely inflated RRP. I have a feeling Target is going to have some mammoth sales closer to the end of the year. They are getting squeezed big time between Amazon and Walmart and pain always brings opportunity.

  20. At first I was like what??!!! Then I was like wait what ?!!!! Long story short....my walmart never carries exclusives. These must have been returned. Saw them on overstock shelf 3 days ago but were at full price. Watched like a hawk that's been starving for the past year. Son was playing soccer when looked at app today. Contemplated leaving son to go get ties. Walked and tried to not think about them as he finished. Sped over to walmart. Had an employee who texted manager about price...arghhhhhh. said department manager marked them way down to move them. Took all 3. all boxes were sealed. One had scotch tape added..so new it was a return for that one. Opened it and all bags were there.

  21. My son enjoys playing with our western scene and I tore it down a while ago….but, finally put back the scene using my own mods, others designs (some stuff I'm just not creative enough) and Lego sets that were previously produced (western sets from the 90’s and Lone Ranger, etc). Some of you have seen my posting of the train station previously… but, in the town is the older sets of 6755 Sherriff Lock-up and 6765 Gold City Junction, as well as a modified 7594 Woody’s Roundup (now the hotel/saloon), the barn from 7189 Mill Village Raid, a 79108 Lone Ranger Stagecoach and a modified version of the 79111 Constitution Train with Power Functions. Eventually, I would like to modify a 79109 Colby City Showdown, as I like the design and color of the bank. I think it would look nicer than the 90’s version (set 6765).

  22. I've sold 3 locally on Craigslist for $420. My average buy in was $340 and my hold was a year. That's 23.5% profit and I only needed to make three transactions for $240 profit. The Death Star will always sell unlike exo-suit, which has zero demand. I'll sell my last two for $450 during the holidays. I'm quite sure they'll sell since they're cheaper that the new one. If these hit $350, I'm a buyer.

  23. The brickfolio and price guide are getting a major kick in the butt and will finally be more of what I envisioned it being years ago. Much better integration between the other major sites, much more data at your finger tips, etc. Everything is changing. Daily Deals, Brickfolio, Price Guide, In Stock Alerts, Syncing, Brick Classifieds, on and on. It is finally feeling like one site, instead of a disjointed nightmare. And yes, i will have it in there for you to tag your collection, so only one brickfolio will be needed but you can tag the sets however you wish.

  24. i guess i can see your guys point about it being a kids set and therefore not going to be entered into a list on a website catering to AFOL which will skew the numbers lower. at the same time, i stand by my supposition that modulars are the most popular sets among AFOL and popularity is growing as time goes on. hopefully i'm not full of hot air. Hopefully Pet Shop and Palace Cinema take a hike this year to make up for nothing retiring last year (or was last year making up for TH retiring early the year before...)

  25. ok - if you say so. if 15000 people took the time to say they have Pet Shop on their list and another 4700 add it to their want list and almost nobody cares enough about a City Police Station remake to add it to their list that tells you that the Police Station set is rubbish. i certainly don't believe a thing that TLG says about what sets are popular.

  26. Never thought of the "no snow" effect. I thought the Snow Plow was a little over-hoarded because it was on the heels of the Logging Truck (which still sells for a crazy price.) Meijer's freebies certainly hasn't helped it's value take off, either. After all that, I'm still buying a bunch of Garbage Trucks. Cleanest Lego City in the country right here.

  27. I totally agree about the road plates but unfortunately I need a ton of them for my layout. Brickbuilt roads just aren't very practical for the size of layout I'm building. I also got the prison island. Not a bad build I just needed another one to expand upon it.

  34. So, Spider Bridge continues at $80. I may have to hop on the DC set train (Killer Croc and Scarecrow) at those prices. Oh I'm liking the rotation between lines at 20% off every week. Easier to load up on sets that way than having a one item only coupon.

  35. Here's my haul for the day. Go tomorrow. Do whatever it takes. Star Wars freebies worth it's weight in marriage counseling fees. They had significantly less Disney minifigs than my visit last month, but still plenty.

  36. Had a blast at LegoLand FL today. Star Wars weekend. If you can Go tomorrow, I strongly suggest it. Some bags I saw there. I didn't get a pick of Friends bowling alley. The Nexo knight was the only new one I'd seen. Besides the Starwars Freebies.

  38. There's probably a couple dozen different buildings they could offer. The series might end in a few more years due to declining popularity, but it won't be due to lack of possible models. There are literally hundreds of different modular style buildings MOCs out there for example. To names a few: pizza shop, old school diner/ice cream parlor, clothing store/tailor/dress shop, pharmacy, hospital, bakery, flower shop, bike store, deli, library, train station, gas station/quick shop, police station.

  40. After much deliberation I finally decided to bite the bullet and bricklink myself a batpod!! Luckily one seller had the majority of the parts so in total it costs £130. The build was mainly technic which in all honesty isn't really my cup of tea however the outcome was great and it looks fantastic next to my tumbler!! Enjoy the pics...

  41. How did you like the build? It was my first modular, and although some have maligned it, I was hooked.

  42. Finished building a set I wanted for a long time: I Bricklinked this one last year and just now had time to put it together. Out of 2767 pieces, that I have carefully counted multiple times, I was still missing two. I could tell I messed up the inventory somewhere because I had one extra tan 1x8 brick (missing a 1x6) and one extra 1x1 white plate (missing a 1x1 white cheese wedge, insert DS joke here). Will check inventory and put them into the model. Next is to figure out whether I want to keep it or sell it.

  45. I cracked the seals on a 10240 this past week and my partner is building 10219 (she builds, then I'll motorize). The train will go nicely with our new layout... Currently under construction. The table is 90.5" x 50.5" (or 9 x 5 base plates) and has a shelf hanging in the middle for extra parts (but not right to the edge to make it easier to stand up against and play).

  46. Not ALL food, but most. Hotcakes, Sonic Dogs and Popcorn are among the most popular. As for where to post, I would say generally.... - If you just want to post a MOC, go ahead and post it in one of the main MOC threads. That'll get the most views/feedback/likes over time. - If you have a series like @dimnico has, often they'll get their own thread (ToK does this a lot and it works). But if you have something truly unique to share, go ahead and make a new topic. New topics tend to eventually get lost in the forum though... the bigger topics keep surfacing in the "Recent Posts" activity I believe many people probably use which makes it a better target.

  47. Got my BL order in for the 9 pieces I was missing for the Death Star 10188 that I picked up for $280 a couple months ago. This is the first time I have built a set without the kids, who are visiting their g-parents. So far I have just finished the minifigs and a little less than half of the Death Star. In other words, the pics of the new Death Star should be leaked on Friday this week as I finish up.
