  1. At first I was like what??!!! Then I was like wait what ?!!!! Long story short....my walmart never carries exclusives. These must have been returned. Saw them on overstock shelf 3 days ago but were at full price. Watched like a hawk that's been starving for the past year. Son was playing soccer when looked at app today. Contemplated leaving son to go get ties. Walked and tried to not think about them as he finished. Sped over to walmart. Had an employee who texted manager about price...arghhhhhh. said department manager marked them way down to move them. Took all 3. all boxes were sealed. One had scotch tape added..so new it was a return for that one. Opened it and all bags were there.

  5. I'm a believer. I've got 56 of them with an average buy in of $45. 2/3 of them I bought at Shopko buy stacking sales and coupons. The other 1/3 I bought from Sam's Club last Dec. 24 when they blew them out at $30 each. Yes, there will always be an X-Wing available in some form or fashion, but this one is unique to one of the main characters. I don't anticipate this version being remade for quite some time. Once it's gone from store shelves it will be sought after. It also has BB-8, which may not help it's value much, but it certainly doesn't hurt it. With Rogue One sets on the horizon, the first wave of TFA sets will begin to ride off quietly into the sunset. This set and Rey's Speeder are my two picks to perform the best from this wave. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. That's why this should be considered as "gambling" rather than "investing". At $45 buy in worst case scenario is that I'll break even.

  6. After much deliberation I finally decided to bite the bullet and bricklink myself a batpod!! Luckily one seller had the majority of the parts so in total it costs £130. The build was mainly technic which in all honesty isn't really my cup of tea however the outcome was great and it looks fantastic next to my tumbler!! Enjoy the pics...

  9. Hi there guys, so I have finished another micro lansdcape moc. This time its the forest moon of Endor. I have tried to keep everything on a 16x16 base in keeping with my other micro landscapes. Does it look too packed though?I have been inspired by a few mocs already out there (2muchcaffine and sarah von noppenquader) but added a few elements of my own.Lego Micro Moc - Endor byI have built my shuttle in 'flight mode' as if it is taking off from the platform (with Luke and Vader on board!) However the wings do fold down and it fits onto the platform if I wanted to. I just prefer the composition of the piece with the shuttle higher up.This was actually a lot trickier than I thought it would be and this micro moc has gone through a lot of rebuilds to get it to a stage that I am happy with.Anyway as always would be great to know your thoughts and any advice, thanks!

  11. Ain't nobody got time for that. I just buy the sealed box, sell off the spares for small profit, then I have 3-4 complete sets to sell or hold.

  12. My son enjoys playing with our western scene and I tore it down a while ago….but, finally put back the scene using my own mods, others designs (some stuff I'm just not creative enough) and Lego sets that were previously produced (western sets from the 90’s and Lone Ranger, etc). Some of you have seen my posting of the train station previously… but, in the town is the older sets of 6755 Sherriff Lock-up and 6765 Gold City Junction, as well as a modified 7594 Woody’s Roundup (now the hotel/saloon), the barn from 7189 Mill Village Raid, a 79108 Lone Ranger Stagecoach and a modified version of the 79111 Constitution Train with Power Functions. Eventually, I would like to modify a 79109 Colby City Showdown, as I like the design and color of the bank. I think it would look nicer than the 90’s version (set 6765).

  13. We had a bunch of Amazon reward points and some eBay bucks so these 2 recent purchases will make our (really my) favorite 'holiday' fun. The GBHQ should look great next to the Scooby Van and MF Haunted House Now we just have to decide whether to use the Air-Blown Vamp Mickey Mouse or Kylo Ren for the lawn ornament.

  16. I agree. I learned my own lesson on other series, and that's to not go too deep on minifigures. They are a timesuck for what you get out of them. Literally breaking them up individually is the way to go. This year I changed my tune. In previous years, i'd smoosh out about 6 to 15 full sets, and sell them. And sell a lot of the invidual figures early on. But, after a while when you are sitting on a bunch of complete sets, and they are end of life, things tend to move much much slower with these lines. Not sure how sets like Disney, or the upcoming Batman series will go. I actually kind of think the batman series will be just as big. But, either way, I blew out all the Disney Minifigures I had while I could make decent money on them. And I did make a lot of decent money on them already, so i'm fine with what I did. I sold them mostly early in the game, but to sell most of them today, you're still not earning what you would have during that early period. But, 2 years from now these will probably be 3 to 4x what they are right now, and that's if there isn't a big restock here in the US, which I still think will happen. If that does happen, then that will knock the value down quite a bit. And when that sort of thing happens, that's when you start to feel what some of us call the SLOW BURN!

  18. They have a kiosk by one of the entrances. There's a vendor building LEGO sets that has a bunch of the poly bags. Edit - Just tell the guy you have 2 kids and he'll give you 2. Or at least that worked here.

  20. When the new figs arrive, we usually buy a bunch at first. My son likes to spend time studying the map, and once he knows what pieces go to which figures, he usually smooshes the bag until he finds the first original piece, and 7 out of every 10 tries he properly identifies that one in the first take. He then hands it to me, and I verify and check off the map. On a good day, we can get 3 complete sets out of a store like walmart, or toys r us. But, on days where we just don't have the time to smoosh, that's when you just buy 50 or so, and hope for the best. And you usually get at least one set out of them. Rinse and repeat about 360 some bags and you'll have about 7 complete sets, and a whole bunch of others that you'll never be able to get rid of, unless you go out and do another round of minifig hunting where you are just grabbing the figures you need to complete those sets. Eventually, maybe after a weeks worth of hitting stores, you'll get to 10 complete sets, and you've already gotten to the point where you leave a lot of the 5 per casers behind for little Timmy and his sister Tiffany. But either way, it's a lot of freaking work. Wayy too much for what it's worth in the end.. I should have just bought 20 to 30 more at-at's last year instead of all the time I spent on simpsons 2, and series 14.. I could have just spent this holiday season as amazon's AT-AT man without worrying about anything else.. But I do think complete sets of a complete minifigure line is good to have. Good luck!

  32. So I went ahead and cancelled my order as per Amazon's request. I placed a new order and gave the necessary information to Amazon CS via the link they provided me in their previous email. I received this reply from a different Amazon CS: "I've tried to waive off shipping charges for your order and edit the price to $33.65 and found that your order already has been entered in shipping soon process. So I am unable to take any action on your right now. However, I'm following up with your order. I assure you that, once your order is shipped, I'll go ahead and personally refund shipping and handling charges and the price difference as per the promised by our previous representative for your order." That's when I knew there would be a problem. About an hour later I received the Shipped email. So i replied yet again to let Amazon CS know the item has now shipped and they could adjust the price. That's when I got this reply from yet another, different, Amazon CS; "I've reviewed our previous correspondence with you, and I'm very sorry about the incorrect information you received. Regarding the refund of price difference, We work hard to find the best prices out there and match them for all customers every day. Our prices do change over time. With the exception of TVs, Amazon.com doesn't offer post-purchase adjustments." That's when I had Amazon CS call me back. I got some heavily accented woman name "Anne" but I highly suspect her name was Duka Duka or something similar. I explained to her the situation and she was rather rude to me. As if I created the situation. I set her straight pretty fast and there were apologies thrown frequently from that point forward. She said she would issue a refund for the difference. She started to babble about all different numbers and multiple discounts and she really sounded like she didnt know what she was doing. Short story long: I woke up this morning to three emails: We're writing to let you know we processed your refund of $11.97 for your Order xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx. We're writing to let you know we processed your refund of $17.00 for your Order xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx. We're writing to let you know we processed your refund of $49.00 for your Order xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx. She ended up giving me three separate refunds, on three separate orders (two of which werent even LEGO) for a total of $77.97. Obviously a bigger refund then it should have been. I ended up paying $21.09 for that Fortrexx. AND when I woke up this morning I looked out front and this was sitting on my porch @ 8AM.

  34. Someone's definitely posted this before but I've lost it so wondering if anyone can help out re the "major" retirees (thinking modular/D2C/UCS style) from the last few years in terms of numbers. Given the increased production capacity & TLG expanding into new markets I'm getting less and less confident with my "ability" to predict the retirees. Using a new method called "number of sets out there" I only see one larger SW set going at the end of this year. And given I've often seen EV above SC in the sales ranks I'm thinking SC is the one to go early in the new year.

  36. I went to Boston comic con a few weeks back and the biggest trend seemed to be loose lego minifigs that weren't made by lego. I normally don't see this as a problem, because it's usually a novelty ascharacter is usually one that Lego doesn't make.. but this time around there were several booths dealing exclusively in Lego minifigures none of which were made by lego, but all of which were characters that Lego makes. I was able to notice they felt and looked cheap, so I asked if they were real and the person attending the booth really rudely told me they weren't made by Lego, as if it would be absurd for someone to expect that a booth with a huge lego banner selling minifigs would have something made by Lego. They were charging $5 a guy too, which isn't bad for the real deal, but way too much for this cheap plastic. It felt really hard and was shinier than it should be. It felt like it could snap easily.. not like lego which feels durable. Just figured I'd post so anyone going to these conventions would know to check close before buying a minifig that seemed like a good deal

  41. I was hoping that thread had ended up in the graveyard of dead links by now... <face palm> If nothing else, I can reflect on how much I have learned since then: - It's a jungle out there - The smart answer is always "buy" - We all love little Timmy, but not enough to take our fair share before leaving him the scraps - It impossible to fill the void of a LEGO set lost to prudence, no matter how many other pieces you cram in. - Paying RRP now is a far better deal than 200% later - Christmas comes just once a year. Even if it's still summer out, buy an advent calendar when you see it - MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!!!
