  1. I've been searching for a nice community and stumbled in here. I am 40 now, but grew up with Legos into my teen years. After that, well, I didn't have much time for the hobby and it faded away mostly. Fast forward to the now. I didn't really fall back into the exciting hobby I once knew as a kid. It was all by "happenstance". Let's rewind a few years. 2012, I had been a cop for 13 years. One night, I was outside of my patrol car with some kids that were out at 2am without permission. While I was talking with them, I was struck by a passing car. I suffered a lot of injuries, but the worst was the brain injury. Let's skip through the past 4 years. I saw the Ghostbusters firehouse through an advertisement for the new movie. I LOVED the franchise and figured I'd give it a go. It really put my recovery to the test. I had to use a lot of strategies to be able to build that monster. My wife and I saw that I used my notes that I have to keep every day, lists of different strategies I use daily to solve problems. So, I've been getting different sets to try and learn new ways to do things that others take for granted each day. That's the short version. So, I'm really happy to be here, and look forward to reading and contributing the best I can to the community.

  3. You know sometimes on this site, people will insist that LEGO bricks are just a commodity and I will argue they are more than that, that they help people connect with one another or help teach or help people express their "emotions." LEGO bricks are more than pieces of ABS plastic and your post only strengthens my strong feelings about this subject. Thank you for posting and putting things into perspective for many of us. We take a lot for granted.

  4. You know when your other half walks in the house looking all happy with herself and says "Well..........?" And you know she must have changed something but you've no idea what. This is the Lego equivalent.

  10. Not quite today but built a few sets recently. First is my First Order Transporter mod. I never liked the dimensions of the Lego First Order Transporter it was way too short and stubby. So when i got chance to pick up a second set on the cheap i thought I'd use it to extend the original and sell off my second to claw back half the costs. I still need to order some extra 2×4 flat tiles to cover the sides but overall in happy. I've extended it by 10 studs and will get a FO Battle pack to fill it rather than the current rebels. I've also started experimenting with my many bridge battles. I've put two together in a reconfigured order. But think I'm going to use the span from a third set to get a full bridge effect. Last but not least i picked up a Turbo Tank because a: I didn't have one and b: Argos were selling it with 22% Off. I'm glad i got hold of it that way because i don't think it's really a £100 set when compared with Kylo Rens Shuttle or dare I say it, the Sith Infiltrator. Bear in mind I've not seen or built any of the previous turbo tanks for comparison but it just feels a bit flimsy and lightweight for the cost. Luckily these days the Lego RRP's don't last very long after launch and £75 I'd say is about the right price point for this set. I just can't wait for the Rogue One sets as the summer releases have been uninspiring and over priced. I will pick up the TFA set when decent reductions come along but most of the builds are a bit Meh and I'm not really into Rebels.

  12. Dude, sometimes ya gotta cut bait. i hear what you are saying though. I gave my 1 DS to my 14 year old son once prices started to tank. He thinks I am pretty much the best Mom ever. Mom-cred is worth more to me.

  23. I bought one of these from this seller last week (when they 'only' had 94) and it came in over the weekend and is perfectly legit. Not sure if they found 850 more legit ones, but mine was good to go.

  24. A few things are working against the 75159 keeping pace with the 10188. Number one, many serious LEGO collectors already have a 10188, so why bother with the 75159 at $500? I will not buy one after analyzing the new version. It's a waste of $500 to me. So that is a sizable chunk of potential buyers out of the mix. The second thing is that the revised 75159 is an old set. A tired set. I have a hard time imagining such a huge rush of rich kids wanting this set or wealthy parents willing to shell out $500 for a retread. Even the rich have standards. LOL. But the most important thing working against the 75159 are resellers. When the 10188 was in its third year of production (2011), the secondary market was ramping up to full speed and people expected this set to retire...and soon. That was the standard back then...2 and 3 year production runs and retirement...then a guaranteed winner. People were already stocking up on this set in 2011 expecting retirement. Same in 2012...2013...2014...2015...and early 2016. This set was always tantalizing resellers and we were complicit in its never ending retirement, expecting huge returns. What's worse was that the 10188 disappeared a few times and exploded in price, even making it more tempting. I don't see this happening again with the 75159. Not even close.

  25. We don't need the dare; my daughter will probably sing it the whole time (and as a result force me to sing along with her); so if you see a grown man and his little girl singing at the event, say hello

  35. Many LEGO fans actually like building, and really don't care about the minifigs. Others only collect the minifigs, and don't care about the build. So yes, people do appreciate having the option. Of course, there are also always some who can't, won't, or don't read the listing. So you do need to be reasonable when these occasional buyers express rage (as they think they've been had - until you explain to them that you mentioned the fact a dozen times in the listing).

  36. Raise ( and many other similar sites ) is under the microscope since they buy and sell GC from individuals as opposed to PayPal . Yours truely was banned from BN.com for " facilitating credit card fraud ". I am aware of various sells being banned from Tru.com , target.com , Disneystore.com for the exact same reason . Most of those individuals used GC purchased from Raise .

  40. I'm going with the 3p's inventory. I received mine today from Sunday's order and as I was weighing it I noticed there was a $200 price tag on the bottom of the box. The box weighed exactly 3.47kg, so I assume it's fine.

  41. I just saw my sons lego magazine, and this was listed for 99.99. I would have assumed this was easily 129.99. About time lego cuts a minor break on at least one set. The buckingham was 49.99. Not 79.99 like some said.
