  3. @Alpinemaps My wife and I went to the Discovery Center in search of some polybags. When we walked in the door, we noticed the Disney Castle sitting there on display. As soon as she saw it, my wife, who is now 8 months pregnant, looks at me says "You know you're buying that for me today, there's no way I'm leaving the store without it." ...... I know not to poke the bear, there was no discussion.

  4. Gonna need that Dracula. Will go well with the Bat from a year or two ago. I'm waiting until mid-September to buy the Disney Castle - grand opening of a new LEGO store in San Diego. I'll grab the Castle and get a free LEGO Store set and then flip that to offset the cost of the Castle. Btw - I had to come up with that plan right now because my wife was demanding we drive to the LEGO store tomorrow for that castle.

  13. To me, these are beautiful (I really don't need to see the pimples on a minifigs face, or every last wrinkle on their pants). The LEGO minifig form is an extremely simplistic design. Adding to much detail to them contrasts with that simplicity of form, and starts to look wrong.

  24. Couple days ago @Elkkthunder posted info about estate sale near by (thank you, thank you, thank you), with some help from @Sfcommando14 (my man ) I was able to go there this morning. Sale started at 9am, they were handing out numbers prior to that, that determined in what order people could enter, I was number 2, not bad right? Well, guy with number 1 was wearing....a Lego t-shirt....damn I thought.... anyway, he goes in first, me right behind him, both of us straight to the Lego table, but he doesn't grab the best things.....he just looked at some Lego train tracks, stated that he has thousands of Lego (whatever) and moved on... So here is what I grabbed, for a total of $263, all sets almost complete, very little needed, all instruction are there too, plus few zip lock bags:

  29. I don't regard 10188 as part of the collectable exclusives. It is a constant in the SW portfolio and according to my experience the customer base is also very different from other D2C sets. It is basically the perfect all-in-one SW OT play set, containing all important characters (except Yoda). It is bought as a gift countless times. I have many acquaintances whose only exclusive LEGO (or only LEGO) is this set. I can pretty much believe that there is a constant ongoing demand for this one and LEGO would be a fool not to exploit it. As long as LEGO has the SW license you can expect at least the following items in production, with some small gaps between various iterations: UCS DS X-Wing play set Millenium Falcon play set These are a central point of the SW saga and I can not imagine that there would be a period where they would not be in demand as long as SW is popular. A toy manufacturer like LEGO just can not justify not having them in its portfolio for financial and competitive reasons. After all, if the kid wants an X-Wing, parents have many other manufacturers to turn to.

  31. You can also do this in native Bricklink by going to your "My Inventory" page, on the right hand side select "Parts" (for example) & check the box for "Non-Unique" hit GO and you should see a listing of all your duplicate entries, you can manually modify & delete lots here as you need. also... when you make a set partout mistake you can always add a -1 (or however many you entered) as the number of sets to add to basically remove the entries, then reenter the set with the consolidate option set.

  33. Picked up an Ecto to add to the firehouse. It looks great in front of it. It won't quite back in all the way because of the desk but I want it sticking out a bit anyways. Why have it hidden away, it looks fantastic pulling out. I'll be selling or trading the figs as I don't need two sets.

  34. Boy is Rio a mess or what. All those barricades that someone left on that track. These poor women having to jump over these things and acting like its no big deal. I'd at least be pissed about the standing water in the way, that no one took the time to clean up. But nope, they're all good sports about it.

  35. My boy and I found this the other day at Walgreens while waiting for a script to get filled. Needless to say he was pretty thrilled. It had been sitting there for so long it didn't even scan...we (he) wound up getting it for less than $9.

  36. So I recently build 42056 (Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS) and added lights. There has been ongoing discussion as well on eurobricks on how to improve the set, and I have been involved and took many of those recommendations and implemented them. A full read, with pics and video can be found here: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/431720 But quickly here are some teaser pics. Overall, happy with the way things turned out.

  40. I use different lighting elements from a place called Lifelites.com. It is owned/run by a gentleman named Rob and I believe they are out of Arkansas. I like to use battery packs (with on/off switches) and half the battle is trying to find a place to put them or hide them. In this build I hid two battery packs with the wiring in each tower, and then I hid the third in the support section under the bridge. For the actual lights I use technic bricks with technic pins to shine the light in the direction that I want. Lastly, the lamp posts are a kit found at Lifelites. It has a battery and a switch on the bottom of the post that can fit inside a Lego piece. The downside to the lamp is that it is not very powerful and does not last long or very bright. I have done a lot of reading and experimenting on how to do lighting in the past to try to get it right, and I am still learning. Hope this helps...See pictures below.

  41. If the set is a duplicate of the 10188 with a few tweaks, a $499.00 price tag will be a major issue. Even at $399.00, many LEGO fans are apathetic to the 10188 after almost a decade on the shelves. If it is not special, it will be a failure IMO and will be gone in a few years.

  43. My boy built the MTT yesterday. We had to put our beloved husky down on friday, and he was very upset, so I went into my "investment stash" and pulled out an MTT to help ease his mind a bit as he grieved. He whipped it together in a few hours. Not bad for a soon to be 6 year old.
