That becomes such a gray area. Let's see how that goes. There's certainly a lot of talk about where you can find the pics, so I don't know that links are even needed. If anyone still can't figure out where to find the pics after all the discussion today, then you probably shouldn't be doing this investing thing. And when the pics are officially available, we'll let you all know. None of us mods are in this for the likes (at least, none of us but @exciter1, but he needs the validation, so we humor him).9 points

Finished up my BB-8, a slightly different take than the one that @Locutus001 did about a month ago. I did bricklink the stand from his build because I like having the option to display it with the stand or without. Comparing the two, the biggest difference is in BB-8's head, though there are differences in the body as well. Definitely a fun little build, and it displays great. It was my first BL project, so that made it fun as well.8 points

This is a reflection of various sales and clearances that occur, mostly in the States, and the quick flippers racing to the lowest possible margins, making pennies at the end of it. These values do not directly indicate post retirement performance, but certainly some insight can be gleaned from watching the trends.. how long it was available at these low prices etc. This can give you some good insight into what the average buy-in cost might look like, and you can be certain some of your competitors got in at that price or lower. You can then factor all that into your own investment strategy to mitigate risks. There have been some very solid sales on those example sets in the recent months. None of them were available up here. Edit: Disclaimer, I've only been at this for a year. These are my observations, but I'm sure some of the more experienced sellers here will agree and perhaps be able to elaborate further.5 points

For the nit-pickers, please feel free to have this moved wherever you deem more fitting. Anyway, I thought these looked pretty cool. From http://www.brothers-brick.com/2016/08/07/these-arent-star-wars-minifigures-youre-looking-for/#more-75720 These aren’t Star Wars minifigures you’re looking for …but these Star Wars figures just may be the coolest ones around. We covered Omar Ovalle‘s Endor Trooper last month, but Omar’s been busy since then converting lots of LEGO Technic figures into awesome Star Wars characters. The Technic figures, which LEGO produced from the late 80s to the early 2000s, are considerably larger than traditional minifigures and have a lot more poseability. The size also allows more accurate scaling with small characters, like Yoda and the Jawas, who both look quite good as minifigures next to the Technic figs. Boba Fett definitely takes the cake for the best looking figure though, as he blasts his way out of the Sarlacc pit.4 points

I am so slow at smooshing, and not very accurate either. I ended up opening most of them just to save time. At least I could watch the Olympics while I sorted through all of them.3 points

It depends. Continuous discounts can indicate an over supply or lack of interest in the set. Some sets will struggle to get back to RRP, others will grow above it despite being discounted.3 points

I sold about 40 of these to sellers in Hong Kong when this was a TRU GWP. I thought it was very patriotic of me to sell Lego back to the Chinese. It also gave me a little hope for democracy.3 points

Some of the discounts I have seen really make no sense. I have seen some high selling sets go on steep discount. I think some of it has to do with what the corporate wants in the stores. From what I understand stores like Walmart and Barnes and noble (where I found 50-75% off) had a corporate wide discount or reset of shelves. others you are probably right, if it does not sell, discount it. Or like toys r us by me, keep old Chima on shelves a year after retirement at full retail price and collect dust.3 points

LOL! First day the set is mentioned, same day retirement is mentioned. [emoji23]3 points

it seems to really only make a significant difference, keeping it sealed price-wise, as it gets closer to the holiday season where they are being picked up for gifts and stocking stuffers, the rest of the year it's to collectors & players who just want the specific fig for display/play & don't really care about the investment value.2 points

Sorry, mods, I wasn't aware that pictures posted on Amazon are not allowed before Lego has officially published them. Unfortunately I obviously missed it when someone else posted them and they were removed, else I wouldn't have posted them here of course. I very much like to keep my reputation good and respectable here!2 points

That's funny. I saw them too and thought to myself "I already own 20 of them," but I lack the control that you have and bought 20 more. It's tempting to buy 20 more, but... I already own 40 of them.2 points

He owns 20 of the 26 he bought in total. Who owns the other 6 is currently not specified.2 points

Brickpicker's database is an average of the recent sold prices for a set on eBay. It is very common for a set to have a value less than RRP while it is still in production, as sellers are often purchasing, and then reselling the sets for a discount on eBay. 75094 for example was picked up by many resellers for $49 over the past year. Many are happy to turn around and sell the same set for $10 profit a month later. Other sellers simply drop ship sets and charge just slightly more than average retail price.2 points

We finished our used, complete 10188 Death Star over the weekend. Turns out it wasn't complete, as it is missing the Luke Skywalker Tatooine mini figure. On the other hand, it included 8 extra mini figures and a couple of extra spy droids. Looks like its all the mini figures from the 7676 republic attack gunship, An older Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker, an Imperial Officer from 6211 ISD, and an Anakin with Black right hand from 2005 with the wrong legs. Overall, its a pretty impressive set and my son loves the play features. It took a while to build, but the finished product is nice. Now that I finished building 10188 and am posting pictures, Lego will likely release pics of 75159 and it will be the coolest set ever. Lol.2 points

Are you using the Wanted List feature? That's the best way to find stores... - Decide if you want to create multiple Wanted Lists or just one big one. - Add your parts to the list (color, new/used, quantity) - yes this is the crappy part. - Search for stores! Of course that last bit is tricky since you have many search options but essentially you can check for stores that have your parts and sort by the "unique lots" option. There are other 3rd party options that will try to minimize cost will doing so... the BL wanted list doesn't necessarily give you the cheapest options at the top. If your wanted list is small, that's easy enough to overcome through brute force, but if it's mega-sized then it'll still be a pain.1 point
