  1. today i went to a Walmart i had never been to before in Manchester CT - i had to take my car in for service near by and the app said there were some $40 Kylo Ren shuttles and some 50% off minecraft. Get to the toy section - not seeing any clearance though the minecraft sets are loaded but unmarked so i snag a couple Nether Fortress and Desert Outposts for 50% off. I ask the toy dept manager/clerk guy if there is a clearance section with LEGO he points me in a general direction - walk over towards the clearance sign walk around the corner and run into a load of 50% off $15 Architecture sets ("little" Big Ben, Berlin, Venice, and Lincoln Memorial) - so I did the quick double take and then swiped the shelf into my cart and hightailed it out of there . i've never seen architecture in a walmart before much less on a clearance aisle. it was a good day.

  4. I can already see next weeks article about lego investing in the mirror. "I flip sets as soon as they come out, and to cut costs wrap it in paper and walmart bags to save on shipping costs. This lego reselling is better than gold"... http://www.mirror.co.uk/money/how-made-thousands-buying-lego-8562064

  5. So, just finished. Missing a few bits, roof mostly, but nothing terrible. A bit disappointed if I’m honest. Finished product looks good but the build is meh. The later modulars are just so much more fun to build, more interesting techniques, fun interiors etc.. PR still may favourite. If this were released today I doubt it’d have anyway near the attraction. In fact I don’t think it could be release today as it is.

  6. Latest acquisitions. 10212 used/complete but no instructions £180. Will need to build it to be sure but looks fine. Tumbler used complete w. instructions/box. £60. Tumbler was shipped built and that mess is what arrived. Hard to be critical with what I paid for it though. Shuttle is likely a keeper, the Tumbler I want to build, doubt I’ll keep though. For me most sets are about building rather than collecting/displaying.

  7. Went present hunting for a bday party today - the bday boy (a friend of my kids) recently discovered his love for SW Lego and brought over his Millenium Falcon he was building, so I thought it might be great to get him a nice discounted set to match. Found a 75101 FO Tie for $49 at WM, but it had a hole in the front, so left it. Then, tonight after poker I decided to pop into a WM on the route back home, and found 2x 75101 FO Tie for $35 (one for the bday-boy, and one for my son who will no doubt claim he wants to have one too). Left 1 more on the shelf for the other Timmy (as my son is called Timmy too ), actually, did some inventory management and took 2 Ties from the storage shelf above the displays and put one in my cart and the other back on the shelf. Also, finally, after visiting what seemed like 20 GameStops, got a few freebies: 3x30279 Kylo Ren's Shuttle, only to find out they sell for peanuts on EBay .... $5 including shipping. Ah well.

  8. I kind of built the Mini Cooper... This one has been a long time coming. I had to make a number of substitutions since the parts don't exist in orange - mostly on the ass end. The boot lid looks better in person than in pictures. Yes, it's left hand drive with a rear spoiler and the antennae at the back. I'm missing two black 1x2 2/3 slopes for mirrors. Source material is parked out in the garage.

PLEASE keep counterfeit talk in the ONE topic that was created specifically for that. This LEGO produced "10224 Town Hall" topic is now unlocked once again.

  17. Hi guys, Earlier this year my wife and I "completed" our journey out of the dark ages (thanks again to this community for making that possible for a -relatively- reasonable amount). Having acquired all of the retired sets we wanted (within reason, sorry UCS Falcon and Grand Carousel), my wife mused that our city needed a zoo. I agreed, so I decided to make one. I posted a MOC a few months ago but this is my first end-to-end, all the bells and whistles effort at something special. It took about 10-12 weeks. I built it and my wife provided constant feedback, answering "what do you think of this?" and "how does this look?" over and over hahah. I also received input some friends, family, and even an esteemed member on here (shout out TheOrcKing for his feedback and, really, everything he does and contributes to this community). Anyway, I thought I'd share this one with you all, too... The concept is that it's a modular building that has modular exhibits, in that you can remove them from the building and place them side-by-side more like a traditional zoo. Depending on how you configure it, the play area becomes as large as 50" wide, but is easily stored and placed into your city on a single standard 10"x10" baseplate: Behind the facade, there are 7 exhibits and 1 food stand & lab. Here's a look at one of them (link to others below): And this is what it looks like as part of a Lego city street: There's a complete video overview here: https://youtu.be/3q6l0Ud5C3c And lots more pictures here (no pressure to vote, of course.... not that I'll stop you lol) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/145483 Thanks for looking! Thoughts?

  29. I'd agree with most of that, although I'm in favour of a shorter life of sets so that's not on my complaint list!! I have so many old sets waiting to retire my house actually looks like a Pet Shop and I could probably build a life size T1 to sit on the drive !!!!! ;o)
