I kind of built the Mini Cooper... This one has been a long time coming. I had to make a number of substitutions since the parts don't exist in orange - mostly on the ass end. The boot lid looks better in person than in pictures. Yes, it's left hand drive with a rear spoiler and the antennae at the back. I'm missing two black 1x2 2/3 slopes for mirrors. Source material is parked out in the garage.18 points

It shouldn't be too much longer now. It looks like they're putting the finishing touches on it now.11 points

today i went to a Walmart i had never been to before in Manchester CT - i had to take my car in for service near by and the app said there were some $40 Kylo Ren shuttles and some 50% off minecraft. Get to the toy section - not seeing any clearance though the minecraft sets are loaded but unmarked so i snag a couple Nether Fortress and Desert Outposts for 50% off. I ask the toy dept manager/clerk guy if there is a clearance section with LEGO he points me in a general direction - walk over towards the clearance sign walk around the corner and run into a load of 50% off $15 Architecture sets ("little" Big Ben, Berlin, Venice, and Lincoln Memorial) - so I did the quick double take and then swiped the shelf into my cart and hightailed it out of there . i've never seen architecture in a walmart before much less on a clearance aisle. it was a good day.10 points

No, he signed up for this. Now the pic needs to include a newspaper as well to make sure it's legit.10 points

Eventually, LEGO will lose its STAR WARS license to LEPIN and all the sets will increase in value.5 points

Finished up the Pet Shop. Fun build. Nothing really special to warrant it being alive still. Time to put this old dog to rest. But I enjoyed the build. Here is a pic of the build and one with my GE. It's actually looking like some building is happening. But I'm going to sell off the PS. Just wanted to give it a build. On to TH next!5 points

Higher LEGO retail prices are great for investors with stockpiles of retired sets. They raise the bar on pricing, and over time, can give the illusion that even overpriced items (on retired sets) are cheap.4 points

41999 LE Crawler. Was in my "dark ages" until few months back so missed my opportunity to get this set. I've always been a fan of Technic RC sets and this one just looked amazing. I actually bought the porsche set aswell but decided to sell it after seeing its reviews and when I realised you could not add any power functions to it.3 points

And this is exactly why people are destined to be disappointed. "the best set of all time" is setting the bar awfully high.3 points

Uh oh. I may not have thought this thing through. Going to do my best. My 4 year old isn't happy that I stole his Death Star for this effort.3 points

That would be cool if they had multiple builds. Time to round up the gang.3 points

I thought for sure you were getting a rush order at Staples for a cardboard standee cutout. Oh well, maybe for the next UCS set.3 points

I missed out on a sealed one for $375 on CL a couple weeks ago, bc it was the day I bought the Tumbler, a GE, a Av Tower, and Quinjet for $400 and my wife would have straight stabbed me, it was gone by morning. Kicking myself ever since. So, if any panickers want to give one up for $375 shipped, I'm your man. The box could be trashed for all I care.2 points

I love those gunships, too. Always reminded me of Vietnam era helicopter assaults with Hueys and Chinooks. Nothing really makes "sense" scientifically in the SW universe. That's why we love it.2 points

Looks cool, but no, no, no...this cannot replace the awesome Republic Gunship in my opinion. That is such a great troop transport and assault vehicle with the pod turrets on the sides and wings. Man I love me some PT vehicles!2 points
-
Yeah, it would make sense the other way around. However, this was taken from a 3d model that was in a video that just showed the functionality of the ship. So, maybe it will be extended when it goes through atmosphere.2 points

That's excellent advice. I'm already looking at the Rogue One sets, and seeing a lot of similarities to the Force Awakens sets. When you do an apple to apples comparison 4 of the 5 sets are equivalent to 4 sets that are currently being discounted at walmarts. This does make me realize that buying those sets at 50% off shouldn't be an issue, but I don't know if there is going to be much profit for those that start purchasing during the final days when the remaining sets of that wave are sitting at TRU for 110% RRP. Especially when the Rouge One sets will be out, and most of them are too similar to the sets that are retiring, except for the minifigures. This is also the problem with the new death star in that it's just a too recent refresh. This is where a lot of us could get burned quite quickly if you start investing to deeply into some of these sets. It's almost like these yearly films are going to just dilute the line very quickly. While we probably wont see many rehashes of these same vehicles and sets, the similarities to other sets being released will be close enough that it will almost be like a rehash. So....it's definitely a new phase, I think. I just look at half the sets from this year in the Star Wars wave and there wasn't a lot of creativity. Disney can ruin this star wars line quickly, and I don't know if I want to be holding a lot of stuff. I've seen this happen many times before and I think we are starting to see the downside to the lego star wars line as it becomes oversaturated and overvalued. This death star will be a defining moment in more ways than one.2 points

Not sure if it is a faux pas to bring up other sites, but there is an extensive discussion on Bricklinking the first three modulars, to include possible substitute pieces for less expense, as well as pictures of modified modulars. I have found it to be an invaluable resource: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=903582 points

It's not printed......its just a series of really small stickers that you have to line up perfectly.2 points
