Hi, With the recent announcement of set "71040-1: The Disney Castle", the list of largest Lego sets has once again changed. In fact, this list changed 6 times so far in 2016. Here is the current Top 45 list sorted by largest. I also include the set # and year each debuted. I will continue to update this list and ultimately create a blog for it. note: Educational, Samsonite and bundle lots are excluded. From the Death Star thread. Pretty easy sequence to predict here people. Both for Cindy and Death Star. 1. Image leaks. 2. "Meh, not impressed, where has Lego's creativity gone?" 3. "Guaranteed investment winner" - Ed Mack Right on track so far people! I don't get the hate on this one. Would love the experts on here to build an example of what you want the towers to look like? LOL. The box art is spectacular. They knocked it out of the park on this one.6 points

Are you a CEO? If so, I would like to know which sets you have displayed on your desk.5 points

This is the smartest post I've seen on this site in a long time, maybe since I joined. Virtually every retired exclusive in your storage room is going to get a shot in the arm beginning in January because of this Disney Castle. This is going to be the first "major" Lego set adorning the homes of thousands and thousands of families over the next several years. Families that might have one or two or three small sets today (300-ish pieces, $20-$40) are going to catch Lego fever because of this set. And Lego is not a "one-and-done" experience. Once it gets you.... its got you. You see, buying the Castle isn't enough... somebody is going to have to build the Castle. And that somebody is going to be mom and dad. Building this Castle is going to make Lego fans out of a lot of credit card-wielding adults who all of a sudden recognize that Lego is the best toy in the world. And then they'll hit the internet and find out that there was a Haunted House too! And a whole series of Lego modular buildings that look just like Main Street USA! And Star Wars Legos too (I mean a LOT of Star Wars Legos)! The completed Disney Castle will be proudly on display on the dining room table... the kids will be tucked snugly into their beds... and mom and dad will be sitting in front of the soft blue glow of the family laptop, beneath the skyward pointing spires of the 71040... and dad will be reading mom the three digit CVV number from the back of the family Visa card as they purchase their next expensive Lego set on eBay or Amazon. From you.5 points

Lego currently has 28 Exclusive Sets on its site. And with Cinderella Castle and the new DS coming soon that will total up to 30 exclusives! So common sense tells me some have to go. There are some usual suspects but there might also be some surprise retirements. Now it is up to us to unravel who them are.4 points

Fraggle Rock was one of my favorite 80's shows. Red Fraggle was my favorite character. In high school, I played a bit in a short-lived band, which I named the Dead Fraggles. Since then, Deadfraggle has been a go to username/handle for me.4 points

Awesome. To give some reference to my question, there was some comments in a thread a while back in reference to buying sets that would be worthy of a CEO displaying on their desk. Some thought that these were the sure fire winners that we are all after. I didn't expect you to really be a CEO, but thanks for the info! Time to start stocking up on Flatiron, UN, and NYC3 points

As a buyer? Or to unlock those from the vault and start listing them? When I researched the set on my cell while picking sets in the TRU, this one surprised me because: 1) There were very few listings 2) The listings I saw were all >$60 3) One seller sold 4 of them for $70 each in the period May-Jul. So I figured I'd take a gamble. My 70724 Ninjacopter however still hovers (pun intended) unsold ......2 points
