  2. Working on a western scene and saw a western train station on Lego Ideas and liked it (https://ideas.lego.com/projects/9050), but wanted to mod some changes, make it a modular and add some LED lights (http://www.lifelites.com/). I have worked on this one on/off for about three years making all kinds of modifications to it. I want to redo the inside of the building at some point, maybe give it more detail like the outside. However, for now I am content with it. I hid the battery pack to the street lights under the water tower and ran the wiring under the building (you can kind of see the battery pack, but not too bad). The clock tower lights up too, though it may be hard to see. I hid the battery pack inside the roof, with a little trap door to turn the power on. I like that it is usable for western type scenes as well as a modern train station (since there are so many older train stations still in use across this country). I also modified the locomotive so that it runs on Power Functions. All the wooden planks that wrap around the station are the 1x4 wood grain tiles (not stickers), part #2431pb243. I bought a bunch a few years ago and am glad I did, they are quite pricy now. I think it makes it look a lot nicer. Spoiler: and those of you with OCD…you may notice in the pictures that the four clocks are not aligned to be the same time…sorry.

  4. Not a buy...but a trade for a used Fire Brigade (10197) from another BP member. I was missing this one and wanted to build it. Glad to have the set and grateful for the awesome BP/Lego community.

  6. Actually, if you've noticed the trend, with the Porsche, Big Ben, and the VW Beetle, each time there were "leaked" photos exactly 1 month prior to the official LEGO reveal ("leaked" on April 14, May 14, and June 14 respectively). That means we should expect to see "leaks" on July 14th, one month prior to the official LEGO reveal. I say "leaks" because I think they are planned to create hype and buzz ahead of time. Only the Rogue One leaked images were shut down, because the "official" "leaks" aren't supposed to appear until mid-August, one month prior to official reveal. LEGO has purposely spaced these big sets out to keep people wanting and chasing, creating a month-long lust for each set one at a time

  8. The mods have decided we'll let this leaked photo stay. (And by mods, I mean I made the decision myself).

  9. Took my wife, for our 17th wedding anniversary, to see Bryan Adams in concert. I had managed to snag 2nd row tickets when they went on sale a couple months ago. Fantastic concert. Really great. Before the concert, they were doing a charity fundraiser for Shriner's Hospital, a charity near and dear to our own hearts. Buy his album (which we already had) and get entered to win a meet and great. Yeah, we won. My wife has been a fan of his for 30 years. We've been hitting his concerts in town the last five or six years. Needless to say, she's on cloud 9. Picture and autograph. Lots of fun.

  13. I hereby pledge to not buy any clearance Lego at Target until it hits at least 50% off, and then a max of one set each. At 70% off, if there's any left its every man for himself time. I also pledge to not hide any sets, and if I find sets others have hidden, I will put them back where they belong on the shelf. C'mon everyone, we can do this. We all stayed away from those IAC's at Walmart and they went down to $30.

  14. Images have surfaced depicting a future set to be shown at SDCC. It contains Hulk, Red Hulk, She-Hulk and Red She-Hulk as well as 2 vehicles. Price point is rumored to be $59.99 and the piece count about 375. It seems like in addition to the 2 bigfigs, there are some large wheel pieces, but nothing to call for such a high price point. I'm not going to post the picture here since I don't know whether LEGO would have a problem with it being posted without their express permission. Looking around online, it seems the information came from the Hollywood reporter. I for one am super excited for the minifigures. MOD EDIT: Hollywood Reporter Story

  15. These: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Ninja-Sword-Sheath-853447?fromListing=listing have been on sale forever. For the price, they are a great birthday party idea. My son had a Ninjago party where they dressed up as ninjas and did some activities outside, and each kid kept the sword to take home. Better than a crap goody bag of candy. The kids loved them, and they can whack each other without hurting each other too bad.

  18. Sold a 9496 Desert Skiff for $64 (shipped) Amzn FBM. I actually bought this about a year and-a-half ago, on Brickclassifieds for my own collection... to go with my Sail Barge I haven't built yet. Finally decided I have too many "yet-to-be-built sets"... gotta let some stuff go. Made 50% net profit on it... not bad for a 18 month hold?

  19. Look people, I think everyone is underestimating the Tie. Sure, it may seem like a stinker right now, but once this set retires, there is going to be a lot of collective regrets for those that missed out on the set. It really is a beautiful set, and is a lot bigger than I would imagine most would think. Plus there are lots of big pieces which add a lot of weight to this bad boy. What it boils down to, is just like anything else, there will be mass scrambling and panic buying and selling, then boom, up in price it goes. Especially when people realize this will probably be the only Tie Fighter we ever get in UCS form. Oh I forgot to mention that this set is truly swooshable!!!! It's so damn well built, you can swoosh this thing around and not lose a piece. Oh and just to let you guys know, as far as 'prettiness' goes for UCS SW sets, I would rate them as follows: 1. Imperial Shuttle 2. Slave 1 3. Tie Fighter 4. MF I know that's not everything, but as far as just how I feel especially in regards to the last few years of UCS sets, these are still the primo in display ability.

  23. Well, yesterday morning not today, but I bought 2x UCS Tie Fighter 75095 for $119 each at TRU price matching Walmart and using discounted BRU gift cards that I keep on hand.

  24. Bought an incomplete 10226 Sopwith for $30. I had to drive an hour each way plus $6.50 toll bring it closer $40. I know it does not have good resale value but for a personal build I think I did well. I haven't gone thru all the pieces but looks almost complete, maybe just missing some of the rubber bands.

  26. LOL...True...I have a gutter mouth and so does my F'n six year old son. My wife gets mad at us everyday. We shock Uncle Jeff all the time. As long as he is good in school and does his work, who friggin' cares? I thought the same until you look at the real castle and notice it is a light tan or beige with white trim.

  27. Yes, they are. As they should be, they need to protect their IP (Intellectual Property). Occasional times in the past, we've left photos up until LEGO has told us to remove them. I've seen the letters from their lawyers. Rather than giving their lawyers extra work, let's let them do less work, and start going after the true IP thieves that we always complain about. As soon as pics become available officially, we'll get them out there. We don't/can't control what happens via PMs, just ask that there are no more PM requests here in the thread.

  33. The UCS Tie Fighter set "should" perform better than 10240 since it's not a refresh and the ship is also in a ton of SW movies and cartoons to help with future demand.... I consider the 30% off as a gift from walmart

  34. Looks like it's gone. Anyway, after the performance of 10240, I'm waiting for 50% off before buying exclusives that are 2+ years out from retirement. There's no more space in my Pet Shop/VW Camper Van storage closet.
