Sounds like a serious case of "I thought I was going to get rich from selling LEGO but it's too much of a hassle".7 points

Pretty easy sequence to predict here people. Both for Cindy and Death Star. 1. Image leaks. 2. "Meh, not impressed, where has Lego's creativity gone?" 3. "Guaranteed investment winner" - Ed Mack 4. "Well, the previous version [is/isn't] selling well in [Europe/US], so don't think your market can predict the [US/Europe] market on this set!" 5. OrcKing posts high-res official thread pics minutes after they are available. 6. "You know, looking at this again, I like those two greebles, and look, two new unique parts in [seafoam blue/dark-light-gray-bley]" 7. Goes on sale on Lego.com with a Nexo Knights promo cycle or chopper. 8. "In for 3" - Exciter. 9. "This is my first Lego investment, was it good that I bought 20 of these already??" - user with reg date of x-1 week from posting date. ... .. ... 10. Profit! :-)4 points

UPS stinks for their signature service since they keep trying to deliver (and usually at the same time because they were successful the day before)... But you can register at their website and get them to reroute to a particular time of the day (not sure about address). You should just do the research for her and send her a link and instructions. That way at least you have done your best to please her whiny ass.3 points

My first garage sale find. 23 minifigures and one motorcycle. $0.25 each, $6 total. I left all the loose LEGO. Who is the dude on the lower right?3 points

I think this set is really bad and worthless. I bought three of them a while back just to burn them in some kind of ritual.3 points

Pure Gold right there. Had to laugh really hard. My girlfriend told me: "You don't have to become Lil timmy. You are Lil timmy." I think thats the secret of all the pros on here. They got 8 yo. After that they only grew taller (Though I'm far from being a pro - just hoping that's the secret - being the Lil timmy myself )2 points

I don't think being unhappy about a signature required "ambush" is whiny... unless you are referring to the tone of the reply - which is certainly subject to opinion. I've been on both sides of the issue. It is extremely inconvenient when I am working a long stretch of 12-hour days with no one to receive a package for me, to have it show up "signature required" and then have to chase it down a week or two later. And the first "expensive" sale I made on eBay, I decided to add the signature option at the last minute without thinking it through, and had the package return roughly a week after the buyer kept telling me it had not arrived when it should have (with poor tracking updates, I might add) - undeliverable due to the signature requirement. Was that in any way the buyer's fault? Nope. I learned from my mistake, ate the double shipping charge, and confirmed whether they'd be able to sign for it before sending it out again. Same thing here. Perhaps you did nothing wrong, but the buyer did LESS wrong. Communication is the key to all things successful in business!2 points

My non-LEGO business has donated items to a raffle this year, and my accountant told me it was just an expense on my budget - no special "donation" tax free status or anything. Now, this is for a sole proprietor LLC - I'm not sure if this holds for an individual as well. I do my LLC taxes as part of my "normal" taxes (i.e. my LLC is a disregarded entity) so it's likely to hold for an individual too. To make it a donation it would need to be given to an entity with a non-profit status. Best way is to check with a professional though - IANAL.2 points

New Shop Your Way VIP Choice Benefits have been loaded to their website and can be used at Kmart.com or Sears.com. I selected the 100% back in points on a single item purchase up to $50. You may have to be a silver level VIP to access this benefit, but I'm not sure. The points should show up in your cart when you're checking out, but it doesn't seem to work on certain sets (I tried T-Rex Tracker and the X-Wing unsuccessfully). This offer may not work in conjunction with any other coupons or points redemption. http://www.shopyourway.com/tag/shop-your-way-rewards-vip/14615102 points

This one should start showing up at TRU towards the middle of July. Hopefully some new 20% coupons are introduced by then.2 points

75059 is among Lego's most satisfying complex builds out there. Then throw in 1) the Sandcrawler is sorta iconic and 2) Jawas have a cult following. 10144 also performed like a champ until 75059 pics leaked.2 points

Yes. I purchased it last week after a cup it of morning JAWA (what I call java) and it arrived yesterday.2 points

The day of reckoning will come soon enough. Will the new Death Star kill the old one? It could be the best of times and the worst of times...all in the same couple of minutes when that first image is released.2 points

If you don't have any I would suggest getting at least a few, as You will never see a large $300 Sandcrawler again, so if you have the money get them, I have plenty of them, got them all at the Lego stores and all beautiful Boxes. Ed2 points

As someone that has built, or been a part of building just about every worthwhile star wars set from the last 5 years, this one ranks first in my book as one of the most satisfying builds. I know i'm not the only one that shares that opinion. Is it as sexy as the Slave 1? No. Is it a cooler build with a lot more interesting features.. Heck yes. To me, this is everything a large scale UCS set should strive to be. On the same token, i'm not going crazy on these as an investment and will just add a couple to my stock, but I expect it should do very well if you hold it past 2 years.2 points

Great advice from TabbyBoy in just a few sentences. I only might add the need for patience. As a new investor, I looked at recently retired sets and thought this is "easy money". Take The Tumbler 76023 for example. Retail US$199.99 + tax... now selling for $280 + shipping (about US$300) just 6 or 7 months after it disappeared from store shelves. When I first started this, I thought every big Lego must be making 50% profit within months of retiring. I but numbers are misleading. With sales tax, I might have paid $214 for the Tumbler. Selling at the current $280 (with eBay avg fees of 13%) will yield $244 return... only about $30 profit on $214 invested. And this set is one of the big winners. Yes, I expect to make good money on my Tumbler... but not now... more like 18 months to 2 years from now (2 - 3 years after I bought it). When I first started this, I never really thought that I would have to wait so long to make good profits. It takes longer than you think.1 point

I wash used Lego all the time. Soap won't wash printing off pieces. Feel confident in using more than a drop at a time Can't speak for isopro, though, I don't find it lifts stains or residues very well, usually just dilutes them, spreads them around, then dries before you can do anything about it. I'd definitely try the warm soapy water angle.1 point

Finally feel like I got a sweet deal...Got the Empire State Building for $10, which took me 10 mins to build and now joins his friends in the office. Then as we're arranging a place to meet up (did this deal via letgo) I asked if she had any other sets, so she said she had 2 more. Only one worth discussing. 4954 Creator Townhouse. Got that used/complete/no box for $40. $50 total and I am a happy camper. Can't wait to build that townhouse.1 point

Exactly. And only in the remote mountains of Japan. So shipping will be a pain.1 point

There's something that just seems a bit wrong to me with buying a large number of high value sets like this and then returning them just because you couldn't instantly sell them for an easy profit. How will you feel when someone buys several expensive sets from you then suddenly wants a refund unexpectedly after a few weeks and having accounted for the extra money? If I owned a store and someone pulled a similar stunt I would ban them from buying again from me. When stores start to get problems with returns like this, this is how stores procedures could affect other buyers generally going forward. Bad ethics if you ask me, but it's your choice at the end of the day. What if everyone did this though?1 point

It could be a stunning set if done correctly. It could be the next Taj Mahal if taken seriously and designed for adult tastes.1 point
