  4. My daughter and I built 2 of the $2.50 Airjitzu flyers. We put a basket across the room and made a game of landing them in it. Also, my dogs chase them and pounce when they land. Fun for the whole family!

  6. Under appreciated sets are good for investors if there's a reason to appreciate them once they are gone. I think this set is quality, and will be a "wow, they made that?!?" set in the future. Being part of a 'set' helps too. Everyone thought the Town Hall was a turd until they couldn't have one. They had to complete their modular set and it went crazy. Being part of the Frank Lloyd Wright subset helps even more. With everyone bemoaning the hoarde and then being 25 deep on any set worth a damn, I like that this one retired quietly and with old seal codes. For the record, I bet Benny is winner in 2-3 years time, based on the sheer quality of the build. I think it hits 1.5x retail by 3rd year gone. Considering the 30-50% discounts that could also be a strong hold. Lone Ranger, I don't like. None of them have the wow factor. If 2.2x retail on a consistently 20-35% off set is stagnated, sign me up. IH is 30% more expensive than FW to begin with. If IH only doubles it's at 260. FW already cleared 2.25x retail. They both have legs to continue to rise. There are very few sellers between IH hitting 200. Once it's through those sellers (30-40) it can really take off. Again, just my opinion, and experience with architecture sets. Especially the FLW sets. You say FW is more iconic but to a FLW fan, you need both. Those are the people we want buying these and they don't really care if it's 300 or 400 or 500. It's just money.

  7. This is a garage sale find from many years ago. Full of the older minifigures without arms. Quite dirty and missing the smokestacks and some damage to the smaller parts. Powered with a inline transformer. Paddles spin, but with difficulty. I found a picture of what it looked like when new. Other than that I couldn't find anything else on the web. Can anyone shed anymore light on this one. Thanks! Mike

  8. In Europe (my market and that of the person who asled for advice) this is the only Architecture set at the present time not to have grown. Even SSN is doing better! Where things are in 3, 5 or ten years is anyone´s guess but I would certainly not sink 100 euros on one now, knowing how it has performed thus far. In 4 month´s time we will get a new round of retirements and special offers that should yield more cleare cut winners both for flippers and long term holders.

  11. Any builder understands the strife in trying to make something feel natural and organic. Thankfully some have been quite successful in these endeavors which lead back to the subject for this topic. One part akin to "advanced building techniques" and the other being "MOC highlights", I thought it might be interesting to have a central hub for showing off these designs of nature well as ways to create them if possible. A couple of designs here to start things off with hopefully more added as time goes by. Note: This is not only about trees but any sort of scene with beautiful creativity in all things flora just in LEGO form. Cherry blossoms by 片岡 ひろし Technical Tree

  12. In this case, the buyer sold the same item to a customer and didn't have anymore so they are buying one from aw004g and having him/her ship it directly to their customer. It's considered somewhat shady and risky but **** happens so sometimes you have to do it to avoid cancelling an order. I've done it before for this reason.

  14. Hint: this is made for kids, many of whom only receive LEGO 1-2 times a year. I used to go there to pump the tires. They also did minor repairs. Also gas stations sell refreshments.

  15. My latest restoration project. This was a tough one. I had to do a fair amount of substitution because the large dark blue plates are non-existent. Only one of the substitute pieces is noticeable on the roof. Also the windshield wipers. I was able to hide the others pretty well. Before and after pictures showing what I got and the finished product. The stickers are high quality replacements I got from a guy in Australia.

  21. I truly love how versatile Lego is. I will not post the whole thing here interested parties are welcome to visit the main page for this MOC: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/429100 Briefly, this is another installation into a series of Technic models that use air for power. No PF functions: http://www.moc-pages.com/folder.php/198856 and uses a Lego turbine for function. All Lego. No modified or third-party elements. People have built functional turbines in the past, but, IMO none that have focused on looks at all. My attempt at least tries to resemble a real-looking turbine. Thanks for looking!

  22. Aren't we thinking the same with our investments? "Look at the values of those old version lego sets! We can make a fortune if we all make sure to have 100 copies of the new version in our stock rooms."

  25. Agreed with @Val-E, what You are comparing an 8 month production run for 21016 at a time when most people were not holding sets NISB to 21017 which had a 2 year and 9 month production run and is still readily available at 5 of 6 BN within an hour radius of my BN Zip Code hunting grounds. If you assume, and this is a big assumption, equal production numbers per month you have over 4x more IH then Sung. I would actually think the number is hire based on what I saw on the shelf and the greater number of venues that IH was available at. Don't get me wrong I picked up a few IH at .20 * .10 * (.10 - .20) but 3x MSRP 2 years after OOS not retirement is my best forecast.

  30. like... $12?! there was a pricing mistake by a 3rd party seller on amz back in 2014. other than that, CCC shows the lowest price at $34.99 at one point last year.

  31. Or, the buyer is drop shipping because they don't want to keep any physical stock on hand. The request for 'quick ship' and need of a tracking number implies to me that the sale was on Amazon. That may not be the case here, though, as the price difference is only around $30. I see it more often on bricklink with sealed sets than anywhere else.

  36. out of the 3 now, I think I like this one the most. The first two aren't worth as much as I'd like but maybe with this one coming soon, the older will go up a little in value...

  37. Finished this beauty over the weekend and it is very impressive build by the user Pvdb. It was a tricky build and you definitely should be proficient in building with Technic and have lots of experience as the instructions are not nearly as straight forward as TLG instructions. Here is the Koenigsegg One:1. More pictures, videos and info can be found here.

  41. Great thread! Coming out of my Dark Ages about three years ago these are the most iconic sets to me personally. Of course, sets like the UCS Falcon and Cafe Corner are per se iconic, but mean nothing to me as far as connecting my childhood to my new found love for Lego. (Don't get me wrong, would love to have them). 1. Yellow Castle - My first set ever. Still remember the day I put it together. 2. Exxon Station - This was the first set I had in my "town". Subsequently added a fire station, police station, the motorcycle shop, and built my own grocery store. 3. Main Street - The last set I put into my town and the last set before the Dark Ages. I was about 14- Lego was no longer "cool". Stupid. 4. Death Star - Whoa, what have I been missing!? Displayed in my office. 5. Black Pearl - Best pirate ship with the coolest minifigs hands down. 6. Diagon Alley - A proper magnum opus. As a Harry Potter fan, Lego nailed it with this final and largest set in the series. 7. Parisian Cafe - Most beautiful and architecturally interesting modular, if not set, ever made. The Detective Office is right up there with it. 8. Arkham Asylum - Batman rocks. 9. Ewok Village - Even when compared to the toys of old, is there any better Star Wars set overall? 10. Town Hall - A painful reminder what happens when I ignore my hobby for a few months after I had delayed, delayed and delayed getting a set that I want. Oh well, someday when i have an extra $500....lol.
