Eurobricks forum member Just2Good has revealed that there will be a surprise addition to the summer LEGO Star Wars line up in the form of a Rebel Combat Frigate (set 75158). Supposedly it is based on the animated Rebels series and will include an Ahsoka Tano minifig.4 points

21017 Imperial Hotel "Fun build" is not usually associated with the architecture line but the Imperial Hotel build was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and not too repetitive. I would have liked more architect information in the manual because I do not know as much about this set as I do for the other architecture sets.3 points

Oh my God. I am running a garage sale to sell this stuff off not buy more. Damn 20% off with the stack of a 15% off credit card. With a $5 reward and a couple other rewards. UUUUGGGHHHH. I can not go and buy more of this stuff at 30% discount (and who knows what I will find on clearance.) Can I not just have one weekend without temptation????3 points

Reduces the shipping costs by quite a bit to buy more than 1. You also have to follow through to the end to see the price because the advertised price of £74.97 includes VAT (the European tax). When you enter a North American shipping address, VAT will be subtracted from the price. Then when you enter two, you will see your shipping costs only go up by a couple bucks making the cost per unit go down. There is usually a sweet spot on the # per order and depends on box size... For the Crawler Crane it must be two!3 points

I'm sure someone will be able to get you a picture, but here's what I would suggest you tell them. "I appreciate your concern, but all large boxes such as the LEGO 10228 Haunted House are sealed using 2 tape seals on each end. This allows LEGO to seal boxes in a way that builders can open them without destroying the box. Only the smallest boxes use punch tabs for opening the boxes. Each tape seal has a code on it that shows the date it was packed at the LEGO factory. If you are not satisfied, you can return the sealed set for a full refund - at your own cost and minus the original shipping fee. A refund will not be issued until I receive the set and verify that it is in the condition I sent it." Then you wait... if they choose to send it back, great. Don't give them that refund until you have it in your hands.... and unfortunately you should now open it to verify the contents. Don't worry, it won't be worth any less open... maybe a couple bucks, but that's worth your peace of mind isn't it? If they open a case with eBay, just keep it honest. No name calling, cite your positive feedback all around, etc. Return Fraud is a real thing, but in reality it will help you very little here unless the buyer has had multiple complaints against them to their local police department. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_fraud3 points

And the Ideas Caterham! How could I forget that? This is going to be a good year for petrolheads who love LEGO. Hopefully this GT3RS is going to be the beginning of a series of "UCS Technic Supercars".2 points

You bet! My wife likes the Gingerbread House and Mountain Hut. Kids already built Hulkbuster.2 points

This would indeed cause a great disruption in the Force. Can you imagine what would happen if Lego released 500,00 arm-printed Boba Fett minifigures into the wild? UCS Slave 1 would take a decent-sized hit and there would be no reason to sell the figure separately. If Lego is going to license Star Wars, they'll probably get Marvel as well. The Lego superhero aftermarket is already in a world of hurt right now, but this would be the absolute death blow. No other line is more minifigure reliant than superheroes.2 points

Disney Infinity is being discontinued, as announced yesterday. What are your thoughts if Disney is still interested in having a share of the toys to life business and licenses Star Wars for LEGO Dimensions? I see this as having a very large impact on the Star Wars minifigure secondary market? Just throwing this out there...2 points

I think you're walking too deep into the weeds, Jeff. You're arguing sub-points on sub-points without everybody understanding your broader position. Let me try to sum up your stance: OT was great all-around cinema. PT was conceptually great but poorly executed. TFA was conceptually un-original (but in my own words: pretty well executed). Most look at it from a cinematic perspective so OT > TFA >>>> PT. But you appreciate that Lucas aimed for Mars (despite his rocket exploding before it even left the atmosphere) whereas it disappointed you that Disney was content to return to the moon, so OT > PT > TFA. It's not an outrageous position like people are suggesting. Had Lucas been able to recruit other directors successfully (he tried) then I do think that the PT (same outline and all) could've been awesome (and better than TFA) for the reasons you've outlined.2 points

Actually a Conservatory. A conservatory is a building or room having glass roofing and walls used as a greenhouse or a sunroom. If in a residence, it would typically be attached to the house on only one side. Conservatories originated in the 16th century when wealthy landowners sought to cultivate citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges that began to appear on their dinner tables brought by traders from warmer regions of the Mediterranean.2 points

Yes, I put more faith in FiveThirtyEight. I'm guessing you don't read the NYT or follow American politics, so I'll fill you in on FiveThirtyEight's bona fides. The founder, Nate Silver, helped pioneer big data analytics in sports and politics. In 2012, he and his group correctly predicted the outcomes of all 50 states in the Presidential election, and he authored a NYT best seller that went on to be named the number 1 non-fiction book of 2012 by Amazon.com. That's not to say that there was as much thought put into this particular poll, but this type of polling is one of their areas of expertise. Rotten Tomatoes is useful, but not in a scientifically rigorous way. Their aggregate system is a dubious way to measure something like a film's "quality". In the FiveThirtyEight poll, people were asked specifically to pick the best movie out of the six, and only the responses from people who had seen all six movies were considered. The RT "study", on the other hand, was not a head-to-head comparison. The reviewers of one movie may not have even seen the others, or may not have submitted a review for the others. To further muddy the water, the RT "study" cherry-picked original release reviews. This is a questionable methodology because it ignores contextual biases. For example, Jedi may have been perceived as a disappointment because it directly followed A New Hope and Empire. Similarly, Eps I and II set the bar pretty low for Sith. On the other hand, one could argue that the prequels were such an unfamiliar departure from the OT that it artificially deflated their initial reception. These contextual biases make an objective comparison difficult, particularly when comparing reviews from two narrow and distinct time frames. Keep in mind that these reviews, assigned a number score, were written within the context of their respective contemporary summer blockbusters. Furthermore--even without consideration to those contextual biases--there are many films currently celebrated as classics that were dismissed by critics upon their debut, only to be rediscovered and re-appraised years later. Critics change their minds, films grow or diminish in stature, and this project ignores all of that to arrive at its conclusion. No study, poll, or person is completely free from biases, which is what allows this debate to continue on ad naseum. However, when trying to gauge consensus opinion among fans, the most appropriate type of poll is one which ranks the films relative to one another (i.e. head to head). I will say that this debate has been somewhat illuminating to me. I had no idea that there were people in the world who would argue for any of the PT over any of the OT. Even the attached IMDB results surprise me.2 points

Weird, I had no problems with either the parrot or free shipping. I did get the warning message that there was server maintenance or something and that the order could be delayed up to 24 hours, but I just received a confirmation e-mail. It is kind of a mess at times with the whole region system, but there's definitely worse webshops out there.1 point

They are available at LEGO Shop at Home in Belgium, Germany, UK, Italy, Switzerland, Norway. All limit 20. Those were just a few EU LEGO Shop at Home sites I checked in a span of 3 minutes I assume the other LEGO Shop at Home sites have them in stock as well. Feel free to confirm / refute.1 point

Yes, the set will be available in B&M Lego stores two months later, on August 1st.1 point

Yeah. I snagged like 4 trucks from the stores around Manchester, to be honest I had no interest in this set but for £30 you just can't say no. Side note, love that Burnley's back in the Premier League again.1 point

Good answer but I´d check their feedback (given and received) and their buying history before replying as there could be evidence of previous scamming. In that case, probably better to contact ebay directly first. However, if the person has mentioned it to you prior to contacting ebay, it´s likely they are a genuine buyer who may just not know (it´s happened to me before too) and is thinking you taped the box shut (those seals can look very amateurish, especially if they are old and the codes have rubbed off).1 point

Classic Batcave for $245 @ eBay. Tempted to buy this myself so I'm putting it here hoping someone removes the temptation. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-Batman-Classic-TV-Series-Batcave-Set-76052-DC-Comics-Super-Heroes-NEW-/152088675968?hash=item2369310680:g:0-0AAOSwWntXM2Dz1 point

I can do that too I never said that you said that it was available everywhere. I am just trying to help people make money, which I thought was the point I am just noting that regardless of how widely distributed it is, if people are having a hard time finding these, then there is an opportunity there.1 point

I still haven't seen any in stores around me. While these could always become easily available down the road, I don't remember any minifigure series that was this hard to get. So really all bets are off when it comes to this series.1 point

Five Thirty Eight is a website dedicated to opinion poll analysis, so I put more trust in their polling methods than say, an MTV.com poll. I'll grant you that there are some corny lines in the OT, but I challenge you to find a line from the OT that is worse than any one of the following: "Love won't save you, Padme. Only my new powers will do that." "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere." "Now this is podracing!" "I don't care what universe you're from, that's gotta hurt!" "Yousa think yousa people ganna die?!" And, of course, my favorite: That is a fantastic actor being hamstrung by awful dialogue. Which is the PT in a nutshell: good concepts, poor execution. The opening crawl of The Phantom Menace reads like the beginning of an NPR segment: "The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute ... The congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events..." The main problem with the politics in the prequels is that it is over-explained (see also: Midochlorians). The political messages of Star Wars are better told through archetypes and allegories than exposition on an intergalatic senate floor. I am glad, however, that Lucas didn't have Padme exclaim "Now this is politicking!" Sick burn.1 point

That's pretty ridiculous. Sure the empire part was pretty clean, but everything else was very well lived in and showed a universe that had character. You are forgetting endor, hoth, dagobah, etc. You know even with empire, although it appeared to be clean, it never had that stupid perfectly shiny chrome feeling to it. Plus no matter how good CGI is, if all you use is CGI in literally EVERY single frame of the movie, it will feel completely synthetic. That was the beauty of epidsode VII. The only part you could feel that was fake was Snoke and Maz, only because they were pure CGI. But even then, they still felt genuine only because they had character and were written to be believable, unlike the clunky dialogue we got with the prequels. I don't know if the whole they had more models and sets is true or not, but they also had quite the limited budget back then, so everything was miniatures, and even then, a 40 year old movie has stood the test of time better than any of the prequels. That's the power of practical effects and make up.1 point

Not sure if my pics really do it justice but i got my final bricklink order in to complete a Helms deep and uruk hai army lot that I got 95% complete. Also added another Uruk hai army and went slightly overboard on eBay getting a few more elves, orcs and wargs to flesh it out. Massive LOTR fan and these make a great display piece IMO - just wish i had more room to fully do it justice1 point
