I just picked up a used, complete 10179 from a trusted seller and forum member for ~ $2500 USD without manual or box. I want to build this set as it is my grail and have no intention of flipping. No regrets.6 points

Just putting a note out there that I am waiting on an updated data for the US from last month+. File was way too small to be accurate, that is what is holding up the price guide update. I will let you all know when I started processing it all.4 points

In my mind it is even simpler: During busy times they drop the limit to a low number, as they want to serve as many wanting customers as they can. During slow-times they raise the limit to get higher sales volume from a lower number of buyers. Come time for the next promo or buying season and those limits will go down again.3 points

We'll c. I just don't believe the Lego Group's production scheduled gets changed because of last minute increased purchasig of a certain set. That would be a nightmare to manage production that way and would delay the production of future (new) sets. Or maybe that is exactky how the release of 75098 Assault on Hoth came about. That that would be pretty bad is that were the reasoning3 points

I feel like, since it is a show that takes place in a variety of times and locales, pretty much any abandoned idea for most themes could be repurposed for Doctor Who. It would only involve a little bit of research to figure it out. 4th Doctor set with Sarah Jane and an Anubis headed minifigure, throw in some Egypt themed stuff and you have the Pyramids of Mars. Tribal warriors and a disused Indiana Jones set, you could add in 1st Doctor, Susan and Ian and you'd have the Aztecs. Reissue it in a limited edition in black, greys and white, and you'd be printing money. Basically, since the Doctor can go to any time frame, they can use space, castle, western, or any one of most of their properties. All they would need to do is create a few new molds for some of the aliens. They could even reissue just the tardis with some different decoration, or create a new console room or three to attach to the existing TARDIS.2 points

See I'd go with the opposite line of thinking. If you have a new playset that's not selling well, retire the alternatives to push customers towards your new product that you've invested in.2 points

Kids' bday today - Got executive permission to build something too, so we built: 41122 Adventure Camp Treehouse (still unfinished), 30398 Adventure Bridge (both my daughter's projects), 75102 Poe's X-Wing (my son) and 21303 Wall-E (me, yay!). My son, ever the charmer, wanted to give his sister a present too so he bought the Rey constractible from me that I got during the May the 4th sale at LEGO.com for $6.50 (no, I did not upcharge ). She built it immediately (Rey is her favorite SW character). Here's our breakfast nook during these festivities:2 points

I misread that as accountable to the Kardashians and thought what have those pr##ks got to do with Lego. My bad1 point

It was Sprucefield and they didn't even blink an eye matching Amazon. The funny thing is, I think if I had gone with an Amazon third party seller price, they'd have matched it no problem.1 point

Thats intresting, i dont think i have seen any hard to find products at a limit of 5 since september. Maybe TLG has decided that people with 5 children deserve the right to be able to buy 5 ewok villages etc, without being banned.1 point

If they have the licence surely the best approach would be a minifigure series. There's certainly enough characters to do so.1 point

I'm just going to say it. It will add nothing to the discussion. So far I have been quiet but I've had a few Cuba libres. I just watched jangs review and...this is hard because I love OT. My childhood. Empire is the best. Well, here goes...This set suuuuuuuuucks.1 point

Then Lego will want $499 for it and the owners of the previous sets will complaint of re-release.1 point

Lego is buy one get one 40% off this week at Fred Meyer. If you're looking for Disney minifigs there were 10 cases at the Kirkland store (I-405/116th St) as of 12:30 today, didn't appear to be picked over much.1 point

I thinks that won´t make a difference - the "cheapskates" who bricklink sets like these are not the target market as it costs less than 5000 to bricklink a 10179. The buyer wants the full unopened MISB box experience and that is what they pay the premium for. Interesting to see that any sets listed for less than 1000 euros on ebay are getting sold quickly but the 1k barrier is proving hard to consolidate.1 point

That was the beauty of TFA. It felt like the star wars universe we were all used to growing up with. It was filthy, gritty, lived in. It looked like a universe that you could say is realistic in nature. Then you look at Episodes 1-3, and it's so insanely clean and not a spec of dust exists in the universe. It makes no sense that the entire universe would get so gritty so fast. It felt too clean, too unrealistic. On top of all the other problems. But for just the atmosphere alone, it felt right with all the physical effects they did for TFA.1 point

Barnes and Noble clearance that a very nice employee went through and checked on a list for me to see what else they had on clearance. She found a bunch in the back, including 5 Mines. She was very happy to help me get a discount on Lego, and was asking me if I was going to build or if I was going to be selling them. 75% discount + 10% membership 2x MInecraft mines at $27 each 2x Chima Ice Mammoths at $22 each 1x Technic offroad racer at $16 1x Chima Icebite's Claw Drille at $121 point

The new vid he puts up where he combines this, the hoth attack set and the 2011 hoth set.... wow! That is a true echo base IMO. I'm tempted to say that if TLG released those 3 sets and removed the UCS logo....$350 no questions asked. I'd still be in the running at $400 i think.1 point

Picked up 7 40121 painting Easter eggs at my local Kmart today. I have no clue why they were there. I check monthly to see why they have and these appeared out of nowhere.1 point

Yep. You can go on eBay and pay a fortune for it from our American friends. We also didn't get double vip, free shipping, any discounts or a stinky poster from SaH. Bah, dull is too kind a word.1 point

Great. Even more superhero minifigures that are now worthless. Dimensions please go away. Nobody plays you.1 point

Right, it's not like TLG would ever change the design of a box during a products life span; that would be unheard of.1 point
