It is. At the same time, Canadians have come together to look after each other. Red Cross reported Canadians have donated $11M to date to help those affected. We are raising money at work tomorrow, I will be donating a portion of my budget that I plan to spend on May 4 specials. One less Lego set for me but might mean a lot to someone else at this time.8 points

Personally, I don't agree with that approach. When I buy on bricklink I get really mad when sellers ship the package and then just give a credit and assume everything's even. I'ts not. I keep my wanted lists sorted by rare parts (pretty much anything over $1) and common parts. Normally I'll look for a good deal on the rare parts and then buy whatever common parts the seller also has to save on shipping. If the seller discovers he doesn't have the rare part, most likely I no longer want that order. If it's a common part I probably don't care. In the past whenever I have a seller tell me that some part is not included in my order AFTER they ship, I make a note about it and most likely won't be back. I won't leave negative feedback but that seller has pretty much lost me as a return customer. Most recently I had this happen with a store I place a $120 order with. The part that led me to that store was the canopy for slave 1 which was $8. If that store didn't have that part I never would have placed the order. Anyway, the seller shipped and then told me that the canopy wasn't included and gave me a credit. I was hot. This sell redeemed himself by agreeing to pay shipping costs for me to by that part from another store, it it was a problem the seller could have easily avoided. Do yourself a favor and be upfront with customers about missing parts before you ship.7 points

This is a PITA and can be sped up significantly if you know how to write a script to scrape a website, but what I did was create a spreadsheet with every single set number, name, and price LEGO has and put them in separate columns. I then hyperlinked each set number to its corresponding LEGO page. When a set retires, I highlight it in red. I have a VBA script I run that opens all hyperlinks I select. I select 75 or so at a time. Then it's as simple as checking product availability when a retiring party occurs.4 points

I just want to say: I have nothing but respect for Jang. My ten-year-old watches his videos all the time, and Jang keeps it classy.4 points

It's exactly the same way for me. Nothing more frustrating than to cobble together an order around a critical piece, and then have that piece not be included. As a seller I think it is common courtesy to ALWAYS let a buyer know that something is missing before shipping, and offer them the chance to cancel the order. But even that does not work for times when I plan a purchase out over several sellers, and then having one seller screw it all up by not having a piece. That's unfortunately the risk of a marketplace like BL, but it's tricky and leaves me nervous until I have received and validated the orders when they come in.3 points

Reviewers already have their copies so we should soon get confirmation what numbers are on the tiles.3 points

I already sold my 30 pre-orders to some guy in Texas. He wanted the poster, too. Weird.3 points

This is very late notice, but I just found out myself, and thought I'd share in case anyone is interested. Superstore had Star Wars sets on for 20% off this week, and on my PC Plus account, I had an offer for 20% back in points on all toy purchases (this is YMMV, of course). I just got back from my Superstore - they had plenty of Rey's Speeder, First Order Battle Packs, the buildable figures, and First Order Snowspeeders. I bought $162 worth of sets at 20% off to part out in my BL store, and got $32 back in points. Anyway, offer expires tonight, so if you're interested go now!3 points

We can use this topic to share pictures and stories of "official" Lego prototypes (aka sketches) of products that were produced or not. Please cite the source if using info from other places. I discovered two sets of pictures today on eurobricks. The picture below is of a larger 1) Speeder Bike and 2) Tie Advanced model and was in a early 2000s Lego magazine. The official release of the UCS 10175 Vader Tie Advanced set debuted in 2006 / 2007. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=10175-1 Here is another pretty famous prototype of Yavin IV that appeared in DK's Star Wars Lego: The Visual Dictionary.2 points

If buying to sell, the time needed to go back and wait in line to return stuffs eats the small profit fast If collecting, this basically prevents other fans from buying until those packs are returned.2 points

You should go north to Canada and find the person with 1 second smoosh technique. The person goes to store with custom made basket with 16 pockets, so he/she has got to be used to people giving him/her weird looks.2 points

I can't claim credit for this, but my 6 year old built this while I was at work this morning. Its the attack on the Second death star with an x wing flying into the superstructure with the Millennium Falcon and some star destroyers, tie fighters, a tie bomber, a tie defender, and a random z95 helping out. I was impressed!2 points

_IF_ your child is being stifled because LEGO is their only creative outlet, that is the fault of THE PARENT and not LEGO. _IF_ your child is being stifled because THE PARENT forces the kids to only build sets as per the instructions, that is the fault of THE PARENT and not LEGO. We have many sets the kids are not allowed to disassemble, but in return they have twice as many they can do what they please with and probable 10x as much "bulk" they can do anything with. I am constantly amazed at what their little imaginations build with all the specialty pieces that aren't plain 2x4 bricks.1 point

Not a Star Wars set, but I picked up a BNIB Black Pearl about a year ago for $275. I had actually intended to keep this set for personal use, but I just had an offer for $480 + shipping. Not a bad return for a 1 year hold.1 point
