Sold an SSD via Craigslist for $900. It's tough getting rid of these, but it's also tough not taking $500+ profit without having to deal with Ebay and the problems associated with higher dollar sales.7 points

Purchased this recently (forgot to share). Liverpool FC Lego Parade Bus by PrintaBrick - £90.00. Worldwide Limited Edition of only 500. Certificate of Authenticity. 5 Minifigs. Decals. All genuine Lego bricks. Had interest from a buyer I recently sold to this morning, offer was a bit under what I'm looking for but would have still doubled my money.5 points

_IF_ your child is being stifled because LEGO is their only creative outlet, that is the fault of THE PARENT and not LEGO. _IF_ your child is being stifled because THE PARENT forces the kids to only build sets as per the instructions, that is the fault of THE PARENT and not LEGO. We have many sets the kids are not allowed to disassemble, but in return they have twice as many they can do what they please with and probable 10x as much "bulk" they can do anything with. I am constantly amazed at what their little imaginations build with all the specialty pieces that aren't plain 2x4 bricks.4 points

I've softened my views of sellers using "NEW" for opened/parted out sets over the years since eBay seems oblivious to the problem of only having NEW and USED as option, but seller's who can't come up with an appropriate title are either morons or trying to lure in potential buyers which I find deceitful. OLD TITLE: LEGO BIG BANG THEORY LIVING ROOM SET #21302 (NO MINIFIGS) NEW COMPLETE IN BOX!! NEW TITLE: LEGO BIG BANG THEORY LIVING ROOM SET #21302 NEW NO MINIFIGS There, if we look beyond the new or used dilemma, it took me 5 seconds to think of something appropriate.3 points

up to 18 now after seeing these on multiple survival levels in Battlefront which is one long commercial of IST. Need to make an MOC of my lifeless body being blasted by a shocktrooper minifigure while hiding underneath the IST in the rain on the Endor base level. Imperial Shuttles seem to be rare in the rotation . There have only been 6 Imperial Shuttle LEGO sets and 3 of those were polybags or small sets under 100 pieces. There should be at least 4-5 years of no remake at a minimum - maybe even longer given the new movies and new material. This is the second largest Imperial Shuttle and will be the 99%'er 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle. I would anticipate EOL to commence at the end of November during the holiday black friday double VIP annual mass extinction event. maybe we get lucky and it goes sooner but i doubt it , it is loaded in stock _EVERYWHERE_ at the moment. expecting target to clear these at 30-50% off coming up in June-July. yes its hoarded and being hoarded - on the shelves of every walmart, target, TRU, kmart, but assuming no remakes for at least 4-5 years and the frequent screen time in Battlefront and ongoing re-birth of dark age AFOLs , $240 by November 2019 would be my price target. at an $80 buyin, you are easily doubling your money post fees etc but again, that's like 42 months from now which probably sounds like forever to a lot of BP'ers.3 points

I don't think ISD has stopped growing yet. AT-AT may have trouble getting above $250, but we'll see. The radar is so huge now it's hard to get around that thing.3 points

On Bricklink, sure, the listing is all sorts of contemptible. On Ebay? Not so much. I think the most misleading part is he has a stock photo of a sealed box. If he said "No minifigure complete set" and included images of the opened box / bags you're actually getting, I'd be inclined to consider it pretty kosher with Ebay's norms.2 points

just ridiculous. an absolute poorly researched conclusion. don't read a book, because the book won't let your mind wander and will make you focus on just a single plot, rather than let your mind run amok with ideas2 points

It's that same attitude that ruined a lot of great things and some truly awful things as well. People who had no passion or even interest in a thing charging after it for the main chance crash the market for it. They don't try to shepherd or safeguard the product because all they are interested in is the quick money, they are not invested in its future. Because of that, they buy and flip, buy and flip, running up sales, increasing production, creating wider diversity into questionable offshoots. The flipper who cares nothing for the product is frequently dismissive if not hostile towards not only others who also buy to resell (as they are seen to be cutting into his profits) but also those dumb enough to buy the products from him, since they are foolishly spending their money on toys or whatever. I know this is all bubble thread talk, but I feel like there's some value in the OP being called out for the attitude that says that everyone here are fools and every one of his customers are too. If you can't at least respect the product that you are hoping to make money on, at least respect the people that you are selling to. After all, without them, you'd be stuck with a bunch of worthless plastic.2 points

Here's my good deed for the day. Just got back from Yorkdale where I picked up 2 Tydirium Shuttles for 35% off (when you consider double VIP and the sale price) and it just got better. They were also out of Force Awakens troopers so the clerk offered me a choice of Hoth Han, Admiral Yularen......and Darth Revan. 10 years of poker playing were called upon to remain nonchalant and I calmly asked if I could get 2 of him. Sure thing he said as he got 2 from the pile of them in his box. Selling those 2 alone will make one of those shuttles free. May the 4th be with you.2 points

First Class International DOES come with tracking, at least to most countries, if bought and paid for online. The shipping pages at USPS.com will say it doesn't, until you get to one of the last screens where it shows "additional options" and it will show that tracking is included. Tracking code looks like "LZ123456US". It will fully track within the US, and depending on the country it will also generate tracking steps outside of the US (For sure for Malaysia, but I had a package to Hong Kong that didn't show any steps after leaving the US until the recipient reported he had it). The online option also helps you with the customs form and prints a combined customs/postage label.2 points

Remove UCS seal from the box and about a 100 from the price and you could get a totally different reaction... I have been trying to imagine all the people at Lego surfing the web and all the forums and youtube reviews...2 points

Were you 100% sure that AT AT or ISD were going to retire when you decided, though? Would you have bought them at full RRP? Did you know there would not be a remake coming out this year of either (we still don´t 100%)? Hindsight is 20/20 and, while I totally agree with you that the best and fastest profit has been lost on the SSD, there is still room for upward motion and more so than for a number of other sets that retired since then.2 points

I still say, order it the way you want it. if it's wrong, have them make it again. Corporate policy may dictate a general guideline for the proper amount of ice, but they will do less if asked. Suing because you don't know how to order the drink you want is childish and foolish. In the end, pretty much everyone who goes there is overpaying for brown water with sugar.2 points

You know, there's something about the fact that LEGO's May 4 event took place on April 30. I don't know if it's funny exactly, but it does have a sense of the ridiculous. I mean, you take something that started as a bad joke, develop it into an event and then push it out to a 5 day extravaganza of shopping. It's like saying "This year, Black Friday starts on Monday." I do have to say that I love the fact that for5 days straight, LEGO has to pretend like they didn't just completely skip over the end of April and the beginning of May.2 points

Best way for me to do it is buy a case at $240, sell it for $320 and repeat. Profits are definitely smaller, but there is nearly zero work involved. But many people don't really look at it as wasting time or 'smooshing' as work, especially if you can get your kids in on the action. But for those that don't wanna deal with that mess, make a good relationship with a store manager or, even better, a small toy shop if possible, and make reallllly easy money.2 points

@micbelt can you remove the sellers ebay name from your post (or can a mod step in and do this)? You are missing out on a lot .... EBay's GSP (Global Shipping Program) is awesome - you only pay for shipping to KY, they take care of the rest. Just make sure that when you ship items that are collectible (e.g. mint box condition) you mark clearly on all sides of your wrapped inner box that they should not unpack it further (I recall somebody reporting a totally trashed LEGO box because the Pitney Bowes guys removed all the bubblewrap/doubleboxing and sent it that way).1 point

I agree folks should divest their Lego investment portfolio. Kinda like retirement investments. Buying new and used retired sets can be a comparable strategy to adding bonds and low-risk stocks to your 401k. Investment yields might not be as high a buying sets prior to retirement but risk is less plus less storage space is required during set ownership. Investors should setup requirements that must be met prior to investing in post-retirement sets (new or used). Mine are... 1) should be a good deal compared to current secondary market price 2) needs to be a popular set / part of a popular theme 3) the set has a slim chance at being refreshed during my ownership. I began buying used and new retired sets 3 years ago when I wanted to fund my "build a great retired set, flip and buy another great set to build" strategy. It all started with a 10185 UCS Vader Tie Advanced that was purchasd for $95 and sold 4 months later for $250. Then flipped a couple of Indiana Jones and Batman 1 sets. After that, I rolled my profits into a $550 used 10181 Eiffel Tower that sold for $800 6 months later. Then I managed to score a $1,425 used in box 10179 UCS MF when it was selling for. $1,900. After that I flipped a $750 10196 a Grand Carousel and sold it 1 year later for. $1,450. The 10179 hasn't been flipped yet but I should be able to clear $2,500 in less than 2 years of ownership. I have done the same with new (NISB) sets since 2013. In mid-2013, I purchased a 10 lot of new The Zombies sets for. $1050. I just sold the 8th one for over $210. All sales have been for over $200. Also picked up 2 new 10221 SSDs for $500 each and as you mentioned, they are selling for almost $1,000 now. Another good one was buying a new in opened box Emerald Night for $260 and it's nearing $400 two years later. Not all purchases have been without loss though. I purchased two new Winter Toy Shops two years ago for $300 total and won't be getting my money back. With the proper strategy and some luck, @Fcbarcelona101 (and @ed_mack 's) strategy of buying retired sets can be a low risk / medium reward strategy.1 point
