This debate is a remake of the Series 15 debate. And the Series 14 debate. And the Series 13 debate. (Not the Simpsons series though - nobody actually cared enough to smoosh those awful angular heads.) Here's the bottom line - if you're smooshing to buy the figures you don't have, good on you for knowing how to feel for them. If you're missing one figure and you just keep buying $4 packs each day until you finally get lucky enough to get the one you're missing because you think smooshing is somehow unethical, then you're being a stubborn fool. And likewise, if you've already got them all but you stand in the Lego aisle at 11:00am on a Wednesday feeling up foil packages so you can clear out all the costumed figs or rarest figs or the ones selling for the most on eBay, whilst leaving the riff raff for little kids who will never get the figs they need because you took them all to resell them, then you're a tool. So find your middle ground. Don't be a fool, don't be a tool. There, it rhymes so it's the new rule. EOD.13 points

Over the weekend I ran out of sets i really wanted to build so went for a surplus investment set ( I usually have a limit of 3 but ended up with 4 of these). The Ewok Village set never really interested me much. After all its a scene playset that just seemed a bit too bitty for my liking. Having built it I'm really glad I ran out of sets because it's fantastic. Ok most of the build seems to be building trees but it never seems repetitive, as each element has different hidden features. There's plenty of scenes from the film included and it does actually feel like one model not a bunch of pieces (cough assault on hoth cough). It now sits proudly on a shelf with my Tydirium Shuttle and an AT-ST. If you're a star wars UCS fan but haven't really fancied this set go get yourself one before its too late.12 points

Started building 5526 Skyline after taking a few months to BL it. I did not realize the scale of this set. I expected it to be closer to a Mini Modular set. Here's the first part I did. Three more sections to go.10 points

Today I built the 75095 Tie Fighter and I didn't mind the repetitive parts of the build because you can essentially build two sections at once. I really appreciated the detail given by the design team at the front of the manual but I greatly detested being instructed to put stickers on AFTER attaching the wings to the cockpit AND placing pieces to secure the wings and obstruct the panel that I have to put stickers on. It would have been much better to put the stickers on earlier. **Make a note - if you plan to build this, and use the stickers, put the 4 arrow stickers on before you attach the wings.** This is a very accurate depiction of a Tie Fighter but it still a very weak UCS compared to other large Star Wars sets. I really find this inferior compared to the most recent UCS sets that I have built: the Imperial Shuttle, Super Star Destroyer, and Red 5 X-wing to name a few. One thing that really detracts from the final display is the clumsy stand that blends in too much with the wings. I would love to see Lego create clear technic pieces to make the UCS sets appear that they are in flight. The stand works great for sets that have contrasting colors (see 10212) but not as well in this particular case. In the end, I am glad that I own this set for my display but I am happier that I received 1004 points from TLG for the purchase because it's really overpriced based on a piece count and the overall build. My fiancee built the Hot Air Balloon Friends set (to go with our modular town and soon to be built Ferris Wheel). I have loved this set since it came out but it looks like it may be a hard sell from an investment standpoint because it was simply everywhere for too long without selling. I saw these on "empty" Lego shelves in multiple locations over the winter so this is a definite long term hold but it's a great little set and truly unique (no picture).7 points

Maybe it's just me but I consider the concept of blind bags to be ethically a little questionable. You lure people into buying more than they actually intended to buy while accumulating unwanted items. So smooshing in moderation is totally okay as a countermeasure.6 points

Just finished building this thing of beauty, and I have to say, what an absolutely fantastic set, so much detail, one of my favourites! I just wish I had bought more a few years back because a set like this will just continue to rise in value!!!6 points

I put this together myself tonight. SDCC2015-3 Action Comics #1 I Bricklinked the parts. The roof is a change out, since that piece, in green, only exists in the original set. Superman is from the Dimensions Fun Pack. As a huge Superman fan, this was pretty cool to build. Hugely iconic to me.6 points

Reminds me of There's Something About Mary. "You heard of this thing, the 8-Minute Abs?"5 points

I was making fun of the 1 second per pack claim. Three seconds per pack is doable depending on the series and how much the person practices I personally prefer the more relaxed 5 seconds per pack technique5 points

i don't mind the sometimes similar story-lines. what gets me are 1) some scenes seemed "rushed" (e.g. hanging w/ maz in the bar), "dump" (e.g. maz screaming "HAN SOLO" when they are trying to keep a low profile), Rey "abnormal" growth (e.g. she basically became Michael Jordan on the court after 15 mins of practice), Leia ignored Chewie after Han's demise but hugged some stranger, the entire red arm things with golden-rod and JJ cut retail peg warmer Constable Zuvio from the film. I'll stop here. at least we'll always have the movie novelization (based on an earlier script so it fixes most of the items).4 points

I don't know how awkward you feel. I guess only you know. You can live in whatever world you want to live in, but it isn't the world we live in. I live in a world where I actually care about the other people and their kids.4 points

Got this set used, well below retail price. Not so pleased with the shipping box, but for the price I didn't complain much... Its been about a week and half now and I seem to still have a bunch of pieces left over. All the pieces came mixed in, so no number bags. If I couldn't find a piece after a certain time frame I'd move over to the next step. Somewhat of a frustrating build for me. Still a working process, but she is getting there. Just happy to be an owner of this amazing set.4 points

When Series 14 hit, I was smooshing at Legoland California one day. One of the cashiers saw me doing it, brought out a new box, told me to buy it, smoosh at home, and return whatever I didn't need. They actually encouraged me to open up bags if I was worried, and that I could return those to, but I told them that was sketchy and unfair. I don't think they care, because they use a lot of the current CMFs for the minifigure trading. So they open up bags all the time. Other times, I've had shops direct me to certain cashiers (at locations around the park) who are known for their smooshing skills. I know everyone laughs at the "3 second smooshing" technique, but I've actually seen Legoland employees that can do it with amazing accuracy.3 points

sometimes time passes by very talented people , they get washed up, they get too stubborn. then these folks don't know it's time to walk away or walk away too late. Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Kobe Bryant, Steve Carlton, George Lucas. i just hope harrison ford knows it (nudge: Indy 5 after lucas' Indy 4 debacle)3 points

i dunno. TFA is 100x better than the mess I know as the "prequels". however, i "thank the maker" more and more after each TFA movie sitting. i'm thankful JJA is not directing the next 2 films as his editing - writing combo (is way better than me but still) bad / choppy. JJA almost made the perfect film but got in his own way. hey, i still watch the movie once per week with the kids and enjoy it.3 points

Too bad all of those midichlorian testers were destroyed during the Clone Wars, otherwise we would have known if Rey had higher count than Yoda2 points

If Hollywood and moviegoers would have stuck to the story/timeline of Ian Fleming's 007 books, "The Man With The Golden Gun" would have been the last film in the series. Well, that was a lucrative departure.2 points

Rey's growth didn't bother me, just as much as much as Luke blowing up the DS in ANH after many pilots more trained, and longer in the service failed doesn't bother me. It's making hero's outta the common man/woman! People love that stuff. But..but there's no constable zuvio minifigure, just yet! Maybe he'll be an eventual polybag promo! So lego did it right, just like they did it right when they made a Black Widow minifig on her motorcycle, while all the other toy manufactures failed to think about it. Although, they did make the snowspeeder, but i'll give them a pass on that, because it was in the deleted scene and could have played a more major role in the film. Here's my main beef of things that bother me and the biggest beef is the complete disregard of physics! Guys standing next to an opened compartment on a Imperial Star Destroyer without a spacesuit on, and without getting sucked out into space! The fact that zero gravity plays zero role, and that when they go into hyperspace they don't have timetravel paradox when they arrive at their destination. The fact that they can go into hyperspace and be there within the next 20 minutes from across the galaxy! I had this issue in the Clone Wars TV series too. The timing at the end had terrible pacing, when they are saying "system will be charged in 2 minutes", and then 5 minutes later in the film the weapon still hasn't fired. I also saw a map that showed where each star was located within the galaxy. No way, could they have seen hosnian prime get blown up if it was that far away from that planet. They made it seem like that planet was within the hosnian prime complex. it would have been like mars, venus and jupiter getting blown up. Maybe that was the case, but then the Star Wars.com needs to update their maps. Then, how the heck did Kylo and Craptin Phasma get saved when Rey and Finn barely made it off the planet in the nick of time? So, that is what bothers me about it. But, if I toss that out and just go with it, i'm deeply entertained by this film.2 points

Pro Tip 1: separate by colour first, then since you have so many light bluish greys, separate those by size: small, medium, large Pro Tip 2: if you skip a step because of a missing piece, jot the step # down on a piece of paper so you can revisit at the end and match leftover parts to the steps. Otherwise, agreed it's a shame the shipper just taped it up and slapped a label on it... It is an amazing set.2 points
