It could be a stunning set if done correctly. It could be the next Taj Mahal if taken seriously and designed for adult tastes.5 points

I can't claim credit for this, but my 6 year old built this while I was at work this morning. Its the attack on the Second death star with an x wing flying into the superstructure with the Millennium Falcon and some star destroyers, tie fighters, a tie bomber, a tie defender, and a random z95 helping out. I was impressed!4 points

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=122532&st=25#entry2534055 Over at Eurobricks, CM4SCI posted a source revealed the next direct to consumer (aka "exclusive") will be Cinderella's Castle. Brickfan reports it will contain minifigs (not the doll-like ones from Princess and Friends). Maybe a Sept, release... By the way, I found this page at brickset. I expect it will be based on the castle at Disney World or the 2015 movie. Likely the WDW version I also think this set will be huge if the design Is better than the last 3 2016 D2C sets. Disneymania will sweep through the LEGO community. http://brickset.com/sets/71040-1/Disney-Cinderella-Castle3 points

Finally doing a big Lego build day with 2 friends tomorrow. I'm building 71016 (Kwik-e-Mart), one friend is building 76052 (60s Batcave), and the other is going all-out and building 75827 (Ghostbusters Firehouse) Should be a long, fun day!3 points

Although a mini or micro version of the Cinderella's Castle would be cool, this would have to be a $400 set to do it justice. Let's face it, Cinderella's Castle is about as iconic as it gets with Disney, so why cheese out? I'm sure many of you that have visited Disney World/Land realize it is a vacation for the wealthy, with a stay in a Disney resort easily exceeding $5000.00 for a week for a small family. If people can afford $5000.00 or more for a Disney vacation, they can afford $500.00 for a set that could be considered the "ultimate souvenir." Price is not the issue with this set. My gut tells me it would be so successful, that if done correctly, it would never retire...3 points

This is what I have been waiting for since the minifigure series was announced. Castle, some rides, stands etc.. full blown disney world in my lego city..hopefully someday. If this castle comes true and it's park style I will be so excited, this would be my families number 1 choice for anything in lego LEGO Disney Cinderella Castle (71040) Rumored to be Released in September http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-disney-cinderella-castle-71040-rumored-to-be-released-in-september/3 points

We built this set over the weekend. I think it's a big winner. Really genius that they selected it. My son has spend the whole weekend off and on building new mazes. It just fits the Lego mindset so brilliantly. Then the little bastard made a covered maze where you can only see the start and finish spots. That is frustrating let me tell you.2 points

I've been buying small things for us to build - like Speed Champions sets or Angry Birds sets - put nothing investment lately.2 points

I thought the same about the UCS Assault on Hoth before the first pictures of that set showed up.2 points

I'm not really a seller, I fall under the 'mint in box collector' category. If I happen to buy a kit that ends up being worth £1000s then I'll sell it, otherwise I'm quite happy just collecting.2 points

I agree $299 seems about the highest realistic price point. But that price does enable 2500-3500 pieces in the build. In general, we tend to see the license fee pull the piece counts down relative to retail price, but on the other hand Lego sometimes pushes piece counts up on large sets (e.g. 500 tan cheese in Tower Bridge). I saw this comment over on Brickset, but I tend to agree -- my biggest fear for this set is whether the scale is minifig or architectural. The rumor is that it will come with at least one figure. If that's true, it seems highly likely that the set will include play features like some fold open sections, Cinderella's bedroom, etc. I'm really hoping that they let Jamie Berard design this one, or at least have a heavy influence. If we end up with an oversized version of the current Princess castle sets, it will be a garbage facade building just similar to the real castle. Based on Arkham Asylum and Classic Batcave, a facade set is certainly a possibility. if they approach this from the Modular Buildings design style, we should get a decent rendering of the castle that also has play features that don't distract from displaying the castle on a shelf. Out of everything coming out this year, this one is by far the most exciting to me.2 points

These pictures are crap. The Big Ben would be a 7000 piece set if it actually was similar to the picture. The Disney Cinderella's Castle is a computer generated item and the Death Star is a 10188 that is photo-shopped.2 points

This would bring in more lego fans than star wars does if it was a Disney Parks castle. Do not under estimate disney world/ disneyland fans. We are annual pass holders to disney world and go multiple times a year. This is our number 1 most anticipated set for sure. (Assuming it is based on the Walt Disney world castle and not the cinderalla movie)2 points

Sellers that act in a professional manner don't have to wait on PayPal to release funds in order to ship an item. I get being broke, trust me I've been there, but the situation described is unacceptable.2 points

Just finished building this thing of beauty, and I have to say, what an absolutely fantastic set, so much detail, one of my favourites! I just wish I had bought more a few years back because a set like this will just continue to rise in value!!!2 points

I found a good use for this deal, actually, sweetened it a little bit more: I got $30 back in points on the purchase of 2 of these: http://www.shopyourway.com/akro-mils-10164-clear-64-drawer-small-parts-cabinet/209140744?seller=Sears.com The $20 back on $20 combined with a $10 back on $50 on these drawer cabinets, which were themselves on sale for $25.03 each (so making it $50.06 total, just above the $50 needed to create the $30 back). $25.03 for the Akro-Mils is the same price as Amazon.com has. I think that anyone with a SYW account should be able to get the same deal as these are generic coupons, so posting it here instead of in the "What did you buy today" thread - but if it needs to be moved let me know and I'll call the janitor.2 points

Kids are fine with it? Or friends and relatives? Skimming off the top of little Timmy might need to go to ethics thread2 points

Anything goes is what I am thinking. Official sets would still be fine in the original build topic but they could also go in the kids one as well. It could also be a great place to hear shared experiences.1 point

After the GBHQ I would not be surprised at anything. That one is more niche than this castle. I feel that they went large with that one because they felt that anything less would cheese out. So my prediction is that this will be in the $300-$400 range.1 point

I am guessing those who bought 20 or more would have got in at a very steep discount and are already well in the money. It is the newcomers who only bought a handful and who paid retail who will feel the burn in September. When the real images leak it is going to be chaos.1 point
-
If you read his article, by his own admission, he is "guessing" regarding what these sets are going to look like. He would have been much better served to leave pictures out entirely, especially when the guessing doesn't appear that it's backed up by any real substantive insider info.1 point

This will be an awesome set, if done right. We've had annual passes to Disneyland off and on for the last 20+ years. Disney fans are insane, and they will love this.1 point

Exactly, at 80 euros or less it is a no brainer and it won´t be retiring soon as it is Lego´s cash cow for SW.1 point

You should have reserved the Chima sets. It would have been very unlikely for those immoral people to grab those sets from the reserve counter1 point

Since i just got 20 alerts of off topic stuff I'll go on a rant. Went to pick up a hulk smash set I reserved about 35min away on my lunch break. I get there and ask for the set. They look and say the computer says you picked it up yesterday. I said not possible. They went on to explain its not possible I had to have and asked if someone knew my name. I said no but I can look right behind your stupid counter and read all the friggin names on every single one of those on hold back there. Long story short some jerk came in and pretended to be me and bought the set I had on hold. Some people really have no morals. I wasted so much time driving and waiting for them to try and figure out what happened. So mad1 point

Tonight I finally got the remaining pieces to finish the Predator Supercar designed by former Lego Technic designer Nathanaël Kuipers. I really love the look of this car and it has an interesting and very well designed vertical gearbox. If you would like more info about the Predator Supercar see his webpage here.1 point

I hope people here only hate the T1 as an investment, and not as the rather beautiful LEGO set that it really is.1 point

That's why I stopped buying. Only Technic for my enjoyment. Even that I still have a big stack to go through. From time to time I will have to resist the itch though. Buying is too easy and tempting.1 point

I keep the big sets boxes for when i sell them off in the future, but small set boxes i usually don't keep.1 point

Ethics have nothing to do with it. They have plenty of toys and are well taken care of. [emoji1] In the end, the collection will be theirs anyway.1 point

I just sold my used, built once, SSD for $800 +shipping. Not bad, since I got to build /display it and my buy in was $270 (from AWD).1 point
