Finally finished the MF 75105 with my almost 6 year old boy. Feels good to be done. It's kinda a beast to move around...we really enjoyed the build for the most part. Now the question is where to put it...

To celebrate its retirement, I finished my damaged box WM $35 Mos Eisley this morning with the kids. As an OT fan I loved it. Cool mini-figs for sure

Built 10213 Shuttle Adventure. Excellent looking display piece but a little delicate putting and keeping some parts together. Stoked I was able to get this and add to the collection.

Getting the thread back on track. It's finished. Probably the best value UCS set I've built recently. One big chunk of a ship compared with my UCS Tie Fighter.

They'd make an odd couple but probably cute babies...

Today I built all models from the new LEGO dimension fun packs 71233 (Ghostbusters Stay Puft) and 71237 (DC Comics Aquaman). I tried doing without using instructions but one picture of a model only gets you so far. Unfortunately, there are no instruction booklets included and I don't have access to the game itself. As a consequence I had to revert back to youtube videos containing the instructions. Aquaman gives you possible builds of Aqua Watercraft, Seven Seas Speeder and Trident of Fire while Stay Puft comes with Terror Dog, Soaring Terror Dog and Terror Dog Destroyer (top left to bottom right). Some of the builds require some sort of base to prevent them from falling over.

LEGO Ideas sets are projects that were submitted by fans and voted on by other fans. If a project got 10,000 supporters, the LEGO Group brought it under review. In the review process, they decided if the project fit their standards, if there was a reasonable chance that the supporters would actually purchase it, and if the build itself was feasible. They make certain changes to the set to make it fit more appropriately within their standards and release only a small portion of those that hit the 10,000 supporter goal. Disney/Pixar's Wall-E is a unique set, in that the designer of the set actually helped to create the movie that this set is based on. The flowthrough gives this a degree of verisimilitude that does not exist in any other set. Plus, the guy had to love Wall-E immensely if he put that much additional effort into the character after being done with the film. The story of LEGO Ideas set 21303 does not end with being chosen for release. It was plagued with design problems. It was recalled twice to create fixes for various neck issues. As you can see by the multiple seal codes on my sample, this set had a rough go. Here you can see the standard instruction book, and the supplemental instructions for the fix. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 21303 Name: Disney/Pixar Wall-E Theme: LEGO Ideas Parts: 677 Price: $59.99 Before we get to the build, let’s talk value. At 59.99 the price per piece works out to almost $.09 each. This is on the low side of pricing for a licensed set. There are a ton of pieces in rare or new color combinations, mostly in the "bright orange" color. I don't know if anyone does a lot of MOCs requiring bright orange, but this is a great set for that color. BOX CONTENTS Some people may wind up picking up a set that is open box or, want to verify the box contents before beginning a build. For this set, there are 10 unnumbered baggies, an instruction book, and a supplemental instruction book. (1 of the baggies contains the pieces to fix the neck issue.) The instruction book is a heavy, thick book made of high grade paper. This is not your standard system instruction book. It also contains information about Wall-E and the designer in 3 different languages. The box itself is a sturdy box, designed to be reclosed and opened. It's a collector's box. BUILD AND EXECUTION: You may recall from my LEGO Ideas Doctor Who Review that I dislike large sets with unnumbered bags. Well, here's my workspace after 20 minutes. Nothing is built, I just separated them by color, which is still a pain to search through. Those orange brackets are rare. I can't think of a use for them in any build I want to do, but if you really need orange brackets, here you are. I was curious about the use of 2 2x2 corner bricks instead of a single 2x3 brick, but I realized it's because they've used a bunch of the corner bricks throughout the build, and running this color on another machine to get 2x3's would probably cut into the production of some other set. The base of this thing is pretty solid. The slope pieces on back help to create the shape of Wall-E. I was curious about the off-center hinge, but not terribly concerned. I was really struck by the interesting gap between the slopes. You can also see here an error that I made that I didn't realize until almost the last steps. It was a giant pain to fix and wound up tearing apart my Wall-E in order to resolve. That 1x6 tile on the side is supposed to be grey. I am sorry if it bothers you throughout the rest of this build. It's sort of embarrassing that I wasn't paying attention here. However, it's sort of my thing with Ideas sets. I couldn't figure out these things at first. I spent a good 10 minutes just wondering if there was some kind of lifting armature on the back of Wall-E. I just couldn't place it. That sloped gap extends farther. I still like it. It really seems unique to me. Effort was made to add interesting details and remove visible studs. You may remember from my Star Wars First Order Transporter Review how much I dislike dull, simplistic boxlike builds. This set was not dull or simplistic. Sure it's a box, but effort was made to make it more interesting. Here, we get attachment points for the arms and the neck. The arms are going to be ball jointed, and also slide back and forth. That's a lot more motion than I expected at the shoulder. Remember the stuff on the back that I couldn't figure out? Well, they're details that look like hydraulics. Starting to see a lot more SNOT techniques as we come to the end of the main body build. The treads are substantial. Unfortunately, I don't know if I made something too tight or if I just couldn't get any traction, but this wouldn't turn well at all for me when I tried to move Wall-E around. Notice how my mistake is buried back under the treads, oh yeah it was not easy to fix. Also, notice the small object on top made from a 1x2 plate and a lever that represents the cockroach. This is the point in the build where we switch to the supplemental instructions. Tah Dah, neck and head joints built. I honestly had no clue what I was building here. A lot of little techniques were used to create different shapes Parts were twisted on pins and lots of studs on the side pieces were used. It's Wall-E's Eye piece, and half his head. Again, lots of SNOT. I like the use of the car wheel cover here. Make another Eye, and he's really coming together. See, here's where I needed that 1x6 tile. I could have used the Grey one, but I needed the authenticity. I couldn't remember how articulated Wall-E's arms were. I thought there was another joint, but upon further review, there is not. Finally, you add his plant. Too bad it's not in a boot. REACTION: I loved this set. I thought it wound up looking fantastic, and my wife loved it too. She wanted to keep it for herself. It gets displayed in our living room because she loved it so much. I appreciate the fact that they fixed the problems. A part of me thinks that if they had spent a little more effort on the neck than on all of the SNOT techniques, they wouldn't have had to recall it twice. I may be in the minority that doesn't care if there's studs showing. This final product is great, looks great and I couldn't come up with the proper words to actually describe it. I think that the pictures say a lot. if they don't sell you on this set, I don't know what paltry words I can come up with that would. Wall-E's sad that you're thinking of not buying him. FINAL THOUGHTS: I don't see how this set doesn't go up in value. Sure, it's going to be heavily hoarded, but it's not Exo-Suit. This is a set that Disney fans will want. Imagine all of those kids who started collecting Princess, Cars or Toy Story sets. If they stuck with LEGO, they're going to want a bigger challenge in a few years. He's a great display piece. I know several people that are not LEGO collectors that have already bought this set. The early distribution problems probably made some people skittish. I can say that there's no reason to be worried about the final design. I don't foresee 5X retail, but 3X within 5 years EOL is certainly feasible. Buy it here! EXTRA PIECES: Lots of extra stuff here. A nice surprise. I found this guy going through the lot. It adds to the value I'd say. I'll be looking out for Luke and Leia. The Cloud City is missing about 5 pieces so far. I expect it'll be missing about 15 pieces not including the minifigures. Nothing expensive hopefully.

Strange and eerie evil abounds..... Thursday I went into my local TRU where Miss Sourpuss works. She hangs out at the Customer Service desk so I waited until the regular cashier was next to finished with the customer ahead. Then I hear the call, "I can help the next person in line over here at the Service Desk". I start walking over there without looking and to my chagrin it's Miss Sourpuss Jr. (one of the previously mentioned 2 Lifer girlfriends of, Miss Sourpuss Sr.), and who is there next to her? The Original Gansta, Miss Sourpuss herself. Ugh...I involuntarily wince at the sight of her. She sees the pain on my face and surprisingly, she quickly leaves. Whew, one obstacle avoided. Now I go unto her well trained apprentice. Miss Sourpuss Jr. engages me politely but with an air of insincerity. I brought to the counter, Indominus Rex, used TRUTH, surrendered the physical 20% off coupon that I pulled off the mailer while standing in front of her, and now for the 15% off Paypal Digital TRU coupons - dead. $0 on all three! What is this treachery! Could the evil Miss Sourpuss Sr. have cast a spell on this transaction too? She wasn't anywhere to be seen but I knoweth of her great powers, for she conjures from thin air to appear with wretched face and the authority of "NO!". My dignity forces me to draw the line at stalking the parking lot to see who is working, but I think she even drives, err...flies, a broom to work, so I am a wary of her. I ask politely for Miss Sourpuss Jr. to try and check the balance of all 3 Paypal TRU gift cards and they all show $0. Dismayed, I tell her where the cards came from and that it is not her fault, probably a fluke. She looks on indifferently as I pay the total with my TRU credit card. With insincere pleasantries exchanged and feeling a little defeated, I now start to leave having forfeited about $16xx by not having money on those gift cards, instead paying with my TRU credit card. As I take a last look through the store while heading for the exit I see Miss Sourpuss Sr.'s head observe the entire transaction while hiding behind a short isle. Hmmm...did she actually shut me down with her powers? So after the mishap I go home and check my purchase records and telephone Paypal. Turns out it was a Paypal error and rep. issues me 3 new gift cards which are instantly activated. Was this a chance fluke or have the evil powers of Miss Sourpuss pervaded their way unto Paypal? I don't know but just to be on the safe side, I'm going to build a sacrifice made of Lego and toss it into a volcano, or the nearest available fire pit and hope it relieves my vex, err...hex.

Thanks for the input. I have 3 old doors being used as overhead storage and had the 4th ready to put up but couldn't find a time with some help. Unfortunately we don't have flood insurance so Allstate will be of no help. I'll probably keep one each of the tumbler and TOO to build but definitely a couple hundred dollars of profit gone. Again, we don't have it near as bad as some others so it's the literal water under the... crawl space?!

This is what I found in the weekend flyers: Target gives free city or princess set with certain purchases, and has $off toys coupons (lego excluded, but it sometimes works in store YMMV, hope that's not unethical). TRU has 40% off selected sets and dimensions on sale. Don't see any W*M clearance anymore, but some stores have rollback with a few $ off.

My guess is this one makes an exit sometime in the fall to make room for the new Rogue One sets. Never know though.

All I see on that example is trying to fraud the buyer into thinking everything on photo is up for sale included in that price. Should be bannable on Ebay imo.

TRU may always offer coupons, but they may, like Target, B&N, BAM, and others, choose to commonly exclude LEGO items from those coupons. They could also change their policy so that customers can only use the physical coupon that is mailed to Rewards customers, or email out unique coded coupons that are linked to a specific rewards account. Like the B&N coupons, these could be single use, and once scanned, inactivated.

Tydirium at €72 is a very sensible price indeed, especially in The Netherlands where the RRP is at €109,99. If I stil had spare budget and spare storage space I'd buy some for that price. Unfortunately I'm kinda maxed out at both (budget and storage space ).

Just a bit of friendly advice for anyone open to it: 1. Learn to take no for an answer. This attempt to get a deal started out well (aside from the pic) on both sides but refusal to budge on either side despite intelligent communication led to tactics involving criticism... That is virtually always counterproductive, regardless of accuracy. Once I learned to walk away at the first sign of a fruitcake, most of my frustration in this business has evaporated. Also, the deals I do manage to successfully negotiate are that much sweeter. 2. Negotiation and justification may overlap a bit, but be careful not to confuse the two. While an original offer may be very fair or borderline lowballing depending on your perspective, refusing to up the offer at all while instead pointing out the seller's flawed logic simply paints you as an opportunist, clearly recognized quite respectfully right away by the seller. Laying out your reasoning so clearly only confirms you are not the buyer he wants, opening the door for hostility rather than progress. And a "left jab" steps right through the threshold. Game over. Negotiation has multiple definitions but using the one involving agreement and compromise rather than getting past / through / around an obstacle leads to far more successful outcomes.

My store has ALWAYS said one coupon per day. So, my work around is to bring a friend. My store is not close so it's a PITA...

Recent weeks, I've been building modular buildings one set per week. So far I've built PS, PC, PR and GE. I'm also working on a project to bricklink 10182, 10185 and 10190.

There was skepticism when he said 10188 would retire, there was skepticism when he said a new Death Star was coming in 2016, and there is still skepticism about what exactly the next Death Star will be. It might be time to start believing him.

Depends on the planned lifetime of the set. If they want to sell it again for at least 5 years then in my opinion basing it mostly on the Rogue One movie does not make lot of sense. It might be a good movie, but I have a guess that people won't care much about its characters 1-2 years after its release especially if there is a new movie every year. With this speed we will have a plethora of new but possibly forgettable characters just in a few years. However people will buy this for a high price (say $500-$600) if it includes enough iconic ones. The OT will be always iconic and there will be always demand for it. And the structure of demand for exclusives is different. They have to be recognizable and somewhat more durable to the test of time. On the other hand play sets are mostly impulse buys, meaning children want the most what they see in the movies currently. So LEGO can serve the full OT demand by selling a stuffed Death Star with all of the classic characters while cranking out new movie play sets. So I am skeptical about the new DS's connection. Maybe 3-4 Rogue One characters out of the 20+, and the rest classic. 10188 already mixed EPIV and EPVI, why not mix 3 movies? Some characters are constant anyway, like Vader, troopers, Emperor etc.
