as I was locking this topic, another member was trying reply. here is what @Zelgazra typed.... If you do a bit more reading you'll come across this answer, scattered across multiple posts in multiple threads, so to summarize: If the set is rare and sought after enough in the aftermarket, you might actually have been dealt an advantage. Many collectors that intend to build the sets want to have some certified verification that the set is indeed 100% complete. If you've got a sought after set that's "Open Box, Sealed Bags" you'll likely drive more traffic to your posting at a marginally reduced price point than the going rate. People are willing to pay very close to top dollar for the assurance of a complete set, if it's popular enough. If it's an average set without too much demand, you're probably looking at sacrificing 15-20% of your projected selling price. This results in taking less profit [in the case that it plateaus before you can realize your intended potential] or you have to wait longer for appreciation to reach your projected selling price [again factoring in 15-20% off going market rates]. Depending on whether the set is still available on store shelves, how many were purchased that ended up as duds [popped seals] in relation to MISB, your personal morals surrounding returning products, and general consensus on the set's rarity will all play factor into whether you 'bite the bullet' or not. Each to their own really. P.S. As a sound piece of advice, I'd suggest never listing your items as "Mint". The definition is loose at best, and your definition of Mint may not equate to your buyer's definition of mint, nor do you have any control over how the postal service treats your package from the moment it leaves your hands to the moment it arrives in your buyer's. You're potentially just opening up the door to an "Item not as described" claim, which in many cases they will win. A great piece of advice I've picked up over the last year is to under-sell the quality of your items. New in Sealed Box is fine; that way, if the postal service does an excellent job, and your set does arrive MINT to your buyer, they will be exceptionally happy and reward you with excellent feedback. If it doesn't arrive MINT, they have nothing to fault you on based on your item description. Well worth it when you're starting out, positive feedback is key! Hope this is somewhat helpful.5 points

Yeah Ninjago sold alright. TLG sold a bunch to retailers where it still sits on shelves. Sell through to customers is a different story =)4 points

Still waiting on the few parts i need to finish this up. So for the time being I've just been playing around with the Paddock interior. Moving plants around, adding plants, removing plants. And adding in fun little scenes/items. I've also finished the Goat enclosure. I don't have room for the washroom as previously discussed, but i decided to add a little Restroom sign that the Lawyer will be running to Clever girl..... Just about finished. Waiting on track pieces, Lawyer pieces, T-Rex Paddock sign parts, and a couple plants to finish it up.4 points

Hi Guys - hope this ask comes across in a reasonable way but can everyone try to keep the posts in this thread as on topic as possible please? I know I have been guilty of this in the past of trying to derail but of all the threads to keep a relatively "on-topic only" mantra I think this is one that would suit best There are separate threads for "order status", "what condition did my box come in" and those are better places to update everyone on those topics. Now to go and find the next thread to call the fun police on.3 points

Just do some research on amazon or ebay, your choice. I don't believe series 2 was as mass produced as series 13 or series 14, but they took forever to sell out, and required a clearance sale at lego. In many walgreens around my area, I could go into them and pick up 3 or 4 more complete sets out a few stores if I wanted. Some targets in my area still have them. They haven't moved at all. They came out in late april, and here we are a year later, and about half the stock still remains. Meanwhile series 13 and series 14 are gone. I just think the signs are there that the simpsons are a slow seller. I just checked, and I've sold only 3 bundles of simpsons lego minifigures since I put them up in august of last year. I've sold many many times that with Series 14. Only the one per case figures like Mr Burns, Comic Book Guy, Grandpa Simpson have some real value to them. The rest mostly sell under retail, or to a point where you are going to lose money after fees/shipping. SO, yes, i'm talking from mere experience here, as at one point, I felt these were gold and would be a hot commodity, well that never turned out to be the case. I should have learned from Series 1, where the margins have been as slim, but I felt after they announced Series 2, series 1 would surely go higher. It's barely moved up at all. Series 2 is a money loser at this point, and I don't expect much from them. I bet I lose 50 to 60 dollars per case from these when all is said and done and I factor in fees/time/shipping… Granted, you win some and you lose some, but the simpsons are a "lose some". So, i've already invested about a grand in Simpsons lego's and would I take a gamble on something like the quickee mart? No. Not even spending 200 on one. I don't believe just because it's an exclusive that is going to help it. I don't think many people are going to pull the trigger on a quickee mart at 400.00 or even 300.00. That's how little faith I have in lego simpsons at this point. We are already seeing cracks in the exclusive market, and so how deep do you want to dig? I don't know about you, but i'm not digging deeper with the Simpsons.3 points

How much discounted inventory are you seeing out there? I think these random eBay deals are people that got lucky finding clearance for 50-75% off and are flipping them. Not to mention the store closings this time of year where a select few are scoring great deals. The TFA sets haven't even been out 6 months yet so I'm not sure why you would be concerned about inventory levels this early on. Maybe I'm missing something though.2 points

Target has had great clearance deals over the last few months ... not as crazy as Walmart, but depending on the store 30-50-70% off. This was straight after the holidays. And they have a stock tracker that is reliable (see the stock tracker here at BrickPicker). Now they have reset their shelves and loaded the new sets, so clearance deals have gone (save a few, such as the 50% off Grievous/ObiWan packs, and their 50-70-90% clearance ladder on the little seasonal polybags right after Valentine's/Easter etc.) I'm sure there will be a new round of clearance soon, but it is not all-out like Walmart. And as mentioned before, the clearance %-age depends on the area your store is in ....2 points

For all the talk about "not selling" and "slow moving", the 02S6 seals on my Simpsons House seem strange to me. "Oh man, The Simpsons House is not selling at all, let's make some more!" You'd think they would stop producing them if they have a bunch of leftover stock. Or are they doing a last run and then letting it fade out slowly?2 points

Hi,. I locked this thread because popped seals and opened boxes with sealed inner contents have been discussed plenty of times and ample information exists in blogs and threads. Let me know if you need help locating that info (look at my signature also). for some sets, owners won't care about popped seals if the inner bags/ white boxes are sealed. These are the folks who either want to build the set after buying or verify their purchases aren't "resealed". Expect comparable / slightly lower than MISB sales on average. If a MISB / NISB set routinely sells for $1000, your set will still get close to that...maybe $925 to $975. It really depends on the rest of the box. 1-2 popped sells isn't a big deal since the inner contents are still sealed. For some buyers, they only want perfect boxes. These folks are hard to please because box damage does sometimes happen during shipping transit no matter how great you pack. Again, not all people are like this but some exist and it's their right to want perfect boxes. Some folks on here including me pull prefer new sets in opened boxes to verify the bag count. regrdless, NEVER TRY TO REPAIR THE POPPED TAPE SEALS. it will just cause your trouble down the road.2 points

Retired in the EU and selling for around retail. Considering there were thousands of these available at 50% less than 3 month ago, it’s doing fine, but like everything else it’ll take a while for the supply to fall off, but the demand is there.2 points

I have scaled back my Friends investments, but I am still a believer in this set. I think it will surprise a lot of people once it's officially unavailable from all retailers. It really is a great looking set. My daughter has one and it's the only Friends set that I truly enjoyed building with her. Patience is the key.2 points

I sold 3 75030 Millennium Falcon Microfighters for $27.99 plus shipping in the past couple days on Ebay.1 point

I don't think most of this is horde. This is the cheapest TFA big set and a variant on an iconic ship. It appeals to SW fans new and old and the price point is better than Kylos CS and MF and even the FO Transporter. The WMs near me only seem to get 4 at a time and they disappear almost immediately while the other ships are stacked 5 deep.1 point

I'd like to get two and combine them, but I'm not smart enough to do it on my own. I'll wait for someone else to experiment.1 point

Yeah. Stuck as in I found them hard to sell for a price I was happy with. Eventually got rid of them all last Xmas for an average gross sale price roughly equal to my average discounted purchase price. These were bought before I really knew what I as doing (not that I do now...) Had to soak up the cost of the fees & shipping, but put the money straight into 75054 & 75055s, so happy in the end1 point

Btw just a reminder: people are getting their tax returns and have money to buy Lego. Just sayin (you can't sell what you don't list). That's all1 point
-
Yeah, even if it's not hoarded by the horde, it's still not going to provide great returns compared to putting your money in something else. I made the mistake of buying 3 simpsons series 2 minifigure cases, and it's going to take me quite a while to just break even on a majority of them. While some figures have a demand, most do not. The demand just isn't there. Same goes for Series 1. A lot of those figures take forever for people to purchase. I just don't have faith in Simpsons as lego's at this point. So, i'm skipping these sets like the plague. Good luck to those that do get them, but I just don't think the market is there.1 point

My biggest issue with it is Walmart seems to not attract the sharpest individuals to start with. Next issue is that I don't think retailers should EVER be offering parted out sets. What the hell is next loose pieces. Are you a retailer or a yard sale...1 point
