  1. We all love lists, right? Welcome to what I expect to be a new weekly blog entry for Brickpicker: Top 10 Best Sellers at LEGO Shop at Home. As most of you know, LEGO’s online site includes a feature showcasing the Top 25 selling sets, updated on a daily basis. While this list is definitely a small sample, I believe it can help us gauge what’s popular with end consumers at any given time, so that when retirement time approaches we have at least an idea of how well a set sold through it’s lifetime. I will also be excluding (basically skipping) those entries on S&H that are not sets. For example, if a baseplate is currently sitting in place number 5, I will replace it with the set currently in place number 6. As far as the schedule and format is concerned, this entry will be posted weekly, as daily seems as overkill to me. Also, unlike most of my other articles, I will try to keep it short and keep my comments about each set to a couple sentences (Maybe none if a set has been on the list every week). Other than that, I will shoot for Wednesday night releases of the updated entry. Hope you enjoy them! Top 10 Best Selling Sets (LEGO S@H) #1: 10251 Brick Bank - Buy Now! No surprise at the top. The Brick Bank is the newest modular and was introduced at the beginning of the year, so we can expect a rush of buyers as collectors and AFOLs look to expand their modular streets. #2: 75827 Ghostbusters HQ - Buy Now! Another of the long awaited new releases, the Ghostbusters HQ has involved in some controversy since it was announced. It will be interesting to see the reaction of buyers once reviews start coming in. #3: 40201 Valentine’s Cupid Dog - Buy Now! Much like the Bat and Snowman released by the end of 2015, this little set is one of the seasonal sets LEGO releases to match specific holidays. With Valentine’s Day a little more than a month away, it will be good to pay attention and see if there is any potential for this set in the short term. #4: 75105 Millenium Falcon - Buy Now! With Star Wars fever still in the air, this set was bound to be somewhere in the Top 5. As always, the most iconic Star War ship proves to be extremely popular, though this very same factor will probably mean a longer than average shelf life. #5: 75117 Kylo Ren - Buy Now! The new buildable figures introduced by LEGO seem to be popular with LEGO fans. I am not particularly into them, but it is no surprise that the star villain of the new trilogy occupies one of the higher spots. Even though his character may have disappointed some people… #6: 21028 New York City - Buy Now! The highlight of the new “Skylines” line in the Architecture theme. I actually really like these little sets, and with the proven performance of the theme in general, you can be sure this one will be sought after once it retires (Yes, I know it’s way too early to even think about that!) #7: 75102 Poe’s X-Wing - Buy Now! Extremely popular and great looking ship from The Force Awakens that has proven to be a somewhat successful flip for some. #8: 75139 Battle on Takodana - Buy Now! Another new release based off one of the best scenes in TFA, in my opinion. Part of its popularity may also be due to the fact that it is a cheaper alternative to acquire the Kylo Ren minifigure. #9: 21304 Doctor Who - Buy Now! Doctor Who fans can finally get their hands on the latest IDEAS set released, and by the looks of it that is precisely what they have been doing. The set is very well done, and its core fan base large and passionate enough that I think has the potential to be a top performer once retired. #10: 75114 First Order Stormtrooper - Buy Now! Finally, we close the list with another buildable figure, the FO Stormtrooper. I am somewhat surprised that this one managed to edge out the cool looking Captain Phasma, but I guess it just has more mainstream appeal. So that’s it for this week! Feel free to leave your comments below, I am also pushing to make these articles more interactive and engaging for all! Note: Be on the lookout for a new thread in the forum with an announcement about my future plans for the Brickpicker blog. I have some interesting ideas and will be including the community more and more in future entries. I will also update you on what types of articles I will be focusing on, and when you can expect them! Thanks for reading. View full blog article

  3. Why does each set have to be an investment? Why can't some sets just be enjoyed and displayed? There are dozens and dozens of investment sets out there and this may not be one of them but I look forward to adding this to the 7783 Batcave in some fashion. Edit to add - POW!

  4. Bulk lot, 0.39 each buy in + red card wiped out taxes. $240 in pocket before fees (shipping is not included). Will clear $200 for basically no work and less than a week hold time

  5. You are likely missing the big picture. LEGO does not want to get rich from AFOL set sales. They want to have new AFOLs with new themes and such, due to AFOL parents probably buying significantly more LEGO sets to their kids because they value them higher and also want to participate. If they can struck the right chords with a certain set that generates a new AFOL they just won.

  7. Still, some people are behaving if LEGO's job should be releasing investment worthy sets instead of being a children's toy manufacturer, judging these releases as a bad and disappointing move by LEGO. And that behavior is annoying, for investors too, since LEGO does not have any responsibility towards our profit levels. Not talking about you, but there are some idiots who feel entitled to their LEGO profits and begin to fume at the company if it does something that would hurt their business.

  10. I always take those types of comments with a grain of salt... There are some real morons out there who feel the need to comment on everything. Take his statement "if I get it at all" which to me means they never planned on buying it. Obviously they don't really eBay all that well.... if you buy from a reputable buyer who lists no counterfeit LEGO products, why would you worry? You'd only worry if you're someone who worries about everything.

  11. The Adam West Batman is Batman dammit. He is the original cool dude (along with William Shatner). I appreciate the effort here. It's something different and pays homage to a truly iconic show.

  12. I had one of those morons argue with me that I need to provide some proof that it was a legitimate Lego minifigure I was selling. My response was if my 600+ feedback isn't good enough proof to you then I don't want to sell to you in the first place.

  15. Agreed. This is one of those sets where you break open the seals immediately after buying it. 7783 Batcave was another one of those sets.

  16. Even if a design or theme is not up my alley, I applaud LEGO for giving customers the option in the first place. I think we have become so accustomed to Star Wars always being there anything else can seem like a 'niche' market when truthfully Star Wars is a niche in itself along with Star Trek, Superman, James Bond, and a ton of other notorious properties we (or the industry) make a big deal out of. They are good and will be remembered for generations but not the only thing out there. Funny thing is once upon a time had you really liked Star Wars or Star Trek back in the day before they became a big deal, you were called a massive geek or super nerd or some other derogatory remark. Now people get weird if somebody doesn't like either. Moving along, I believe sets such as this Classic TV Batman Batcave or themes based around Minecraft shows how much the company of LEGO is listening to its fan base instead of whipping up whatever is on the agenda then releasing it onto the world with fingers crossed people will want it. This is not a case where just a small handful of builders said "you know what would be neat? Classic Batman Batcave!". Some one person may have tossed the idea out there but in the end that one thought gained enough traction for serious consideration and here we are. Anyway I have always enjoyed the 1960s Batman in all its goofy zany campiness of cheese. This set is in every way a playset with a very minimal amount of the manor shown inside or out. However it is supposed to be the Batcave not Wayne Manor and most of what was important to the scene is there including the ever classic Batmobile that I am more than ecstatic finally gets its due in true LEGO form. Now I wait for the instructions to become available just so I can see how they put it together then have a go myself. Also I love the Batcopter. Oh yeah.

  17. It's my day off and my night to cook. My wife sent me to the store. $700 and 9 shuttle tydiriums later I'm home. $74 each. I just went for some noodles and a can of cream of mushroom soup. It's all her fault. I'm actually glad I found these. I don't have any yet and my TRU is out so I was not able to get any through TRUTH. These were not showing at all on my Walmart app, so I guess I'll go check my other two for more.

  18. I block users all the time, usually when they repeatedly ask about box condition after I explain none of my sets are mint. I did have a buyer make multiple lowball offers each time I relished a set, I finally gave my minimum and he responded that he had plenty of patience and his offer of 60% of my asking price stood. My item sold full price two days later. You're being rediculous.

  19. Don't know about LEGOLAND Florida but at LEGOLAND California you can buy a full prices ticket, and as long as you come out within an hour, they will give you a full refund. If you spend $20 while you are there, you can get your parking fee refunded too.

  24. Lots of people have asked for some sort of fee structure for the site in the past two years, and you guys have refused, saying it doesn't fit your vision. I hope and imagine a great majority of those folks who are still active have contributed. I can't imagine significantly active members not being aware of the raffle by now. This is a chance to, essentially, "pay" for the incredible benefit of membership on this site, AND support a greater cause at the same time. This proves the ideals and vision of the founders in a significant way, and I have great respect for that. Sure, finances may be tight for a few folks out there right now. But if you are a member of more than a few weeks reading this, and have posted in the "daily deals" thread, "clearance deals", "what I bought today", or spent any money whatsoever on Lego in the time since you became aware of the fund raiser, hopefully you have already donated. Otherwise, I ask respectfully that you seriously ask yourself how you would feel if you reached out for a VERY SMALL favor to people you "work" with and generally have respect for... and almost no one responded. Ouch, right? It only takes one $10 ticket to make a small difference, and for cryin' out loud, take a quick guess at what this site has been worth to you since you joined. If the answer is not at least $10, then what the heck are you doing here? A quick scan of those threads answers the question clearly: "Not giving back". Step up, folks. Please.

  25. Hope you didn't spend all your money on the new LEGO Ghostbusters Headquarters. In November, we mentioned the possibility of new LEGO Ghostbusters sets coming, based on a press release from Sony Pictures, the rights holder to Ghostbusters franchise and the 2016 reboot film's distributor. Paul Feig, director of the new film confirmed today on Twitter that there indeed will be LEGO sets based on the movie. He states "Fun stuff coming from LEGO too. Just FYI. Sorry, bank account." Note this is ahead of any official word from The LEGO Group. The movie should no doubt drive buyers to all things Ghostbusters, including 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1. Will Ecto-1 disappear before the movie hits the shelves? Will there be a 2016 edition of Ecto-1 with the new Ghostbusters team? Share your opinion with us below. View full blog article

  26. Just yesterday on eBay I had a user offer almost half of what I was asking on a Buy It Now listing with no best offer. I politely declined immediately so they could look elsewhere if needed and explained that I was firm on my price. 10 minutes later the person buys it full price. Would have lost me a sale if I blocked this person.

  27. I think this set is rather cool. I would have rather had a Wayne Manor set above and the Batcave below kinda deal (like the Jabba's Palace & Rancor Pit combo), but this will do. Listen, this is an investor site, but it is also a fan site. I like this set and the Arkham Asylum as well. Speaking of the AA, the jury is still out on that set. Give it some time. Maybe this new Batcave will stir some interest in the AA. They both would display very well together.

  29. You should probably report that first guy. If someone lowballs me then I'll respond with a "Thanks, but this is the best I can do" and offer the list price of the item. I've never had anyone keep after it where I felt like I needed to block them though. If they're somewhat serious I'll figure out where they're at and what shipping would be and come down a few bucks if I can.

  31. How can a prolonged shelf life be considered a good thing??

  32. I'm sorry but that is just baloney .... the box would give it away, and you could file a SNAD as a buyer. If you list a sealed box with the LEGO logo on it .... you'll get the real deal. The same way as it is with minifigs nowadays, the real LEGO ones will have clear text in the listing saying it is genuine.

  36. Yeah LEGO is surely run by idiots. They tried the pirate and castle rehashes and failed. The ship remakes fifteen years ago were a flop. Kingdoms Joust did not sell. Conclusion: classic LEGO themes don't sell that well. And you can bet that there will be a new exclusive ship some time down the line, they retired Sea Cow only recently, which was ironically a new ship with creativity. I want to see a cool Ghost Ship too, retailing for $350. Also don't see why is it a problem that they are releasing sets that cover a niche market or just simply don't appeal to you. It's called diversity. Endless generic rehashes of the classic themes would not be boring for sure. Plus, more Minecraft micro worlds? Yeah, that is absolutely not niche... Finally, I haven't seen even a second from the TV series and still like the set. Bummer.

  41. I'm not a giant superheroes fan.. so, maybe that is why i'm not so thrilled about this, but the set looks incomplete to me. Definitely would give an A for the minifigs and the batmobile, but the overall structure and design of the original wayne manor feels kinda lackluster. The Ghostbusters Headquarters feels like a complete set, the Tower of Orthanc, Ewok Village also fit the bill. This one? Well, it just feels like there's a lot of empty space in it. I definitely get they couldn't make the entire Wayne Manor without costing 700.00, but I think they could have designed it a little differently. I've never been a huge fan of any of the large batman playsets, becaus of this. Many of them just feel incomplete.
