I've said this many times, and others have said it, re-makes were bound to eventually happen. As far as the rumors of the Snowspeeder, seriously it's been over 10 years. This isn't the stock market, it's a toy. If they can remake smaller sets over and over again, why can't they re-make UCS sets??? As far as the MF, bring it on. Sure I bricklinked mine for a crap ton of money, but I would still go out and spend another $500 for a new UCS MF. Collectors are going to want it regardless. For those crying about re-makes so much, I have no sympathy for you. If you've been holding onto sets for this long because you keep wanting to hope for more money, then it's bound to bite you in the ass. It's the nature of the game. With as hyped as the movie has been, and as great as it is, re-making a UCS MF is probably without a doubt going to be a home run for Lego. You do have to think, that as much press time as 10179 gets, you have to imagine there are a lot of people out there who don't necessarily have $4000+ to spend on 10179, but could possibly afford a $500 TFA MF with the new antenna and be perfectly happy with that. Also, Lego wasn't near the popularity force that it was 10+ years ago. Lego is beyond mainstream now. It's not just a kids toy. And as Ed said, there will be people that are still willing to shell out insane cash at the original 10179 no matter what.7 points

Going all out and doing a back like that is a poor decision. Hello LEGO fans, collectors and resellers… Many of you may already know who I am, but for those of you that may have just learned about Brickpicker, my name is Ed Maciorowski and I would like to ask you for a few moments of your time. Over the past five years, my brother Jeff and I have operated the BrickPicker site at no cost to members and fans. All we ever asked from members was to click on affiliate links to help pay for the site expenses, which cost members little or no out of pocket money. Many of you have gained valuable information and insight from our data and forum community that enabled you to make money from LEGO collecting and reselling. Often, people would ask how can we help the BrickPicker site and its creators and we would say thanks for the offer, but no thanks, we felt uncomfortable taking donations. Well, we have a way for all of you to help out not only me, but over 150 children and their families. Let me introduce you to the St. Paul School of Burlington, NJ… My son, Max, is a member of the Kindergarten class in St. Paul School. He has attended the school since September and adores it. My wife, Jane, and I also adore the school. It is everything a school should be. It’s a school where everyone knows your name and there is a sense of pride and respect not found in many other larger schools. I cannot explain it, but there is an ambience of goodness in the building. Sounds corny I know, but as a person who has the word “evil” in his email address, I can tell you that I know when something deserves special recognition as a “good” thing. But it’s not only me who recognizes a great school. St. Paul School was voted the “Best Private School” in Burlington County, NJ and won numerous other awards. St. Paul School’s graduates constantly excel in high schools throughout Central NJ, with a large portion of graduates appearing on the National Honor Society and finishing top in their classes as Valedictorians and Salutatorians. To find out more about the St. Paul School, you can check out their website… So here is the situation. St. Paul School is a Catholic school and as many people know, Catholic schools always have a hard time paying the bills to remain open. While St. Paul School and other Catholic schools welcome all religions and people, they are not funded by state or federal tax dollars and must adhere to many policies of the Catholic church and their Dioceses. Unfortunately, due to the weak economy and other forces outside of their control, enrollment in Catholic schools is down, putting more and more pressure on the school’s and local church’s budgets to remain open. This is an ongoing battle and fundraising has become an annual ritual in every Catholic school in the nation and most likely, the world. Everyone has to do their part to help out and Jeff and I are doing ours. Here is our plan… Jeff and I are going to personally RAFFLE OFF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF RARE AND RETIRED LEGO SETS! These sets are from our personal collections and they include the: 10188 Death Star 10228 Haunted House Sealed Case of 64 Series 10 Collectible Minifigures (MR.GOLD might be in there!) 10224 Town Hall 10225 Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2 MORE SETS HAVE BEEN ADDED!!! That is well over $2000.00 in LEGO sets. All are retired and appreciating in value as we speak. I will personally ship them to anywhere in the world at my cost and in a proper shipping container. There will be one winner for each set and you must buy tickets for each raffle separately. One person can win all the sets if they enter all five raffles. There are discounted tickets available and the raffle will be run on the www.rallyup.com website, which is a very reputable and trustworthy fundraising site. They will automatically pick the winners at 11:59 PM on January 31, 2016 and will notify the winners. I will then ship out the winning LEGO sets to their new owners. The raffle and link to share can be found below: https://rallyup.com/stpaul-2016 Each ticket costs $10.00 and enables you to enter one LEGO set raffle of your choice. $50.00 will cover all five iconic LEGO sets. ALL OF THE PROCEEDS (besides the commission to www.rallyup.com) goes to St. Paul School and to its corresponding church, The Parish of Saint Katharine Drexel, which helps the school operate. Tickets can be paid with any major credit card and the site is secure. Unfortunately, PayPal does not get involved with “raffles,” so PayPal can only be used for direct donations. I know that is a minor inconvenience, but if their is an issue, contact Jeff or I and we can see what we can do about transferring money to our PayPal account and paying for your raffle tickets. If we get a great response from people, we might add a few major sets or collectible and rare items to the raffle contest. On a personal note, I just have to say that I feel awkward asking people to help and for money, but the St. Paul School kids, faculty and community are worth it. They need to raise $200,000 by the end of January in order to keep the doors open and I am pulling all of my strings to help get them to that goal. I need your help. Period. If you value quality education and teaching children morals and respect, then supporting a school like St. Paul is paramount to the future well being of this planet. To the BrickPicker community...Show the LEGO world that we are more than just a bunch of Quick Flipping Low Lifes….that we care and have a heart, even though we buy all of Little Timmy’s LEGO sets up to resell. LOL. Honestly, this is important to Jeff and I and I want to be proud of our community that we have built over the past 5+ years. If you want to repay us for all of the efforts we have made over the past five years, buy a ticket...or two...or five. My son and 150+ other kids and families, faculty and friends of the St. Paul School will thank you… CLICK HERE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FUNDRAISER PLEASE HELP AND SHARE THIS BLOG POST ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS!! If you are interested in just making a donation and want to use Paypal, you can. Just click the purchase link on the right side bar. On the next page you will see a checkbox that will allow you to just make a donation. Check that box and you will then see options for payment. Paypal is not available for buying raffle tickets, it is against their terms.4 points

Built the Temple of Airjitsu and Sensei Wu's Dragon. First, ToA is an incredible set. I can't believe it doesn't get more pub for the incredible display it is. It's truly a breathtaking set, and one that deserves a place among the best of the best. Sensei Wu's Dragon is also a great build. I have built almost all of the Ninjago Dragons, and this one is great. The brick built head really shines, and the minifigures are excellent. Plus, it comes with a husky - an added bonus for an already great set! Both are great sets and highly recommended.3 points

To be fair, I don't believe there were pictures of what any of the sets would be when that vote took place. The description might have sounded good, but if they make a crappy version of that description, that isn't the voters' fault. Regardless, I didn't vote for a Home One. I think a Jedi Council type set was one of the options and that got my vote.3 points

It really depends on the new UCS Falcon. If the new version fails to live up to the old version, then it's up, up and away. If it is better than the 10179...well, everyone had their chance to sell.3 points

Gotcha. Yeah, Luke was apparently known much more as the rebel pilot who destroyed the first Death Star more than he was as a Jedi and his accomplishments on the second Death Star. I mean, all that stuff in the throne room wasn't really ever broadcast or known by anyone. As far as the galaxy knows, the Emperor just died in the explosion. Exactly, she had no idea about her abilities to use the force until Kylo showed her and opened her mind to it.2 points

He's a poser, n o doubt. And Rey called him out on it, when she said, "You're afraid you'll never be as strong as Darth Vader." And to hear Kylo Ren talking to Vader's helmet, saying, "Forgive me...I feel the call to the light." He is the inverse of Anakin, but he doesn't know it. Anakin wanted to turn back but couldn't ("It's too late for me" he told Luke) Here you have a man who WANTS to let the dark in. Something happened in his past that has so warped his mind, I don't think there is any redemption for him in this story. And to see him banging on his blaster wound while fighting Rey...that was great. He's feeding his pain, increasing his link to the dark side, because he knows he needs it because he had been weakened). Fascinating stuff.2 points

The skeleton is similar, but the meat is very different. I don't know how you could be disappointed but to each his own. It was the most fun I've ever had at the theater, and everyone I was with thought the same thing. It got even better for me on my second viewing and there is SOOOO much more to the story than I originally thought. There are so many more plot points I missed, especially regarding the bigger picture of what is going on in the galaxy. Spoilers follow: At first I had a small problem with them rehashing the death star thing, and then on second viewing, I got it. The First Order is NOT the Empire. I knew that already, but I was thinking that it was really just a name change. But it is soooo much more than that. The First Order are fanatics. They're insane. They steal children from their families and train them as soldiers. The New Order is operating on a warped view of the Empire. The Emperor was evil, but not everyone who worked for the Empire was. This is not the case with the New Order. They sincerely have a perception of what the Empire was and they're taking the most extreme form of it and idolizing it. So they said, "We're going to rebuild the thing that the Rebellion destroyed as a way of saying that we are not afraid of you." We do the same thing in our own cultures today (rebuilding the World Trade Center, etc..) And then the New Order used that weapon to destroy pretty much the only fleets that the New Republic had (as seen in The Force Awakens when the 5 planets are destroyed) and all that is left is the Resistance, led by Leia, which is basically a black-ops team for the New Republic. I thought it was all genius. And Kylo Ren is the most interesting on-screen villain since...well, for a long, long time.2 points

you may be right there. I just looked at the sold prices for sealed 7191 UCS X-Wings and they haven't gone down despite the release of Red 5. As a fan it doesn't matter to me whether a model is the original or a re-release as long as I got the model I wanted. I look at it like they are plastic bricks and can be designed into any form imagined. I don't need the older original version. I do understand there are collectors who might want the original or as you said, as a status symbol.2 points

People paying $5000 for a LEGO set will still buy whatever set they want. It will not affect their buying decisions one iota. The 10179 is a status symbol. There is history there. A new one will have no such history....just a lot of people stockpiling it.2 points

Disney paid 4 BILLION dollars for this franchise. You had better believe they will be making more toys, authorized Lego sets included, than there ever before for this franchise , if not just to pay the bills alone. You can expect more remakes from Lego. Now that the Star Wars franchise has been rebooted, the fans are hungry again. Do you really think Lego wants buyers paying $4-5k to resellers when they can reboot that same kit again for $500? Lego is losing roughly $4k in sales every time a buyer buys a 10179. The buyer will spend his $4k in Lego kits , the question is who will he give it to? The Lego corporation or a reseller? Lego can easily get that market share back with a reboot of 10179.2 points

Jumping on the SW love bandwagon after seeing it this afternoon. I am huge OT fan and saw the original film in 1977 when i was 8. TFA is fantastic. A great story told with precisely the right amount of detail and not a drop more. Perfectly edited. I did not expect the emotional response at seeing those yellow letters scrolling up the screen like my life going by but it was so justified. One of the most satisfying motion picture experiences of my life. I was one of those weirdo's giving it a standing ovation at the end. Going to see it again in 2 days.2 points

As a countdown to the Force Awakens, I will be writing reviews on Star Wars LEGO sets this week. I haven't really done an exclusive set before. I kind of wonder if the exclusives are the sets that people would be most excited about getting, or the ones that people wouldn't mind missing. Let's dive into the Hailfire Droid set and see if it's a can't miss, or a swing and a miss. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 75085 Name: Hailfire Droid Theme: Star Wars Parts: 163 Price: $19.99 Before we get to the build, let’s talk value. At $19.99 the price per piece works out to a bit over $.12 each. This is to be on the high side of pricing for a licensed set. There are 3 minifigures Clone Trooper Lieutenant, and 2 Super Battle Droids. The Clone Lieutenant is exclusive to this set. BOX CONTENTS Some people may wind up picking up a set that is open box or, want to verify the box contents before beginning a build. For this set, there are 3 numbered baggies, 2 decorated 10x10 trans clear radar dishes and an instruction book. THE BUILD AND EXECUTION Bag 1: You build your clone trooper and the central body of the Hailfire Droid. There's not really any interesting techniques in this portion of the build. You're basically setting up a solid chunk in the middle that you are later going to pin everything to. Bag 2: This bag combines with the 2 radar dishes to create the fenders and attach the dishes as the wheels. Shown below are the fenders and the new attachment points for them. You also build both of your Super Battle Droids. I have no clue why there's a trailer hitch on this thing. Bag 3: You finish out the build by creating external fenders and the missile racks. I'm usually not a fan of these spring missiles, but for this particular set, I feel like it works. A few greeblies to give a bit more dimension to this thing, and a tilt of the wheels, and off you go. REACTION I like the look of this set. It's a fairly quick build. It needed a small gun emplacement or something for the Clone Trooper. He's massively outclassed in the firepower department, and a small build for him, would have made this seem more like a $19.99 set instead of a $14.99 set. I'd say it fits in well with all of the Geonosis stuff from 2013. Too bad that means it has been out far too long without anything to pair it with. The Super battle Droids are standard. Nothing terribly exciting about them. They're nice to fill out a scene. I like the Clone Lieutenant though. The blue pops, and looks good when mixed in with all of the standard clones. He's got a standard trooper face, not a Clone Wars one, so that's a real plus. FINAL THOUGHTS This set is overpriced. It's a Prequel Trilogy set in a Sequel Trilogy world. There's nothing big to lift it up, and there are no main characters to draw in Timmy's mom. Scene builders, completionists, and impulse buyers are probably the target market for this particular set. It looks cool, but it's not instantly recognizable in the way that an A-Wing, Luke's Landspeeder, or the Droid Escape Pod is. If they had thrown in a main character or a unique Jedi, there would probably be more demand for this set. What I haven't mentioned yet is that this an exclusive set shared by Target and the LEGO Store. In the long run, it will be harder for completionists to get if they want to fill in holes later. I don't know if the demand will ever be huge, but I anticipate the value to climb modestly just due to the fact that it is an exclusive. I would recommend pairing it with the AT-TE or Republic Gunship. Shop for it on Amazon EXTRA PIECES:1 point

One thing I just realized, since my son and I just watched Return of the Jedi, is that I do not get Luke. He can stand up to the Emperor (the super duper darkside guy) but he runs away from Kylo Ren. To start the movie with a crawl about Luke 'running away' and everyone is looking for him seems silly. Yes Kylo Ren is his nephew but really? I do not get it.1 point

I sold through half my stock of the 6860 Batcave for $120-125 each FBA. I was expecting more from this set, but LEGO kept it around longer than expected and the Target blowout last year didn't help any. Still not bad for an average $50 buy-in price.1 point

I found an awesome rebate on Gift Cards today at Fred Meyer. This is a re-run of a similar deal I saw around thanksgiving. Essentially it's a $50 rebate, when you buy $100 in gift cards and a 24-pack of Coors products. There was a separate pad of rebates for Blue Moon Beer (Owned by Coors). It's one per household, and the purchase must be made before 12/28/15. This is limited to OR, WA, and ID. I can grab bunches, so if any of you guys don't see this offer in your store, shoot me a PM and I'll mail you a rebate form. I found mine at Fred Meyer, but this does not seem any way tied to specific retailers. I don't see why this wouldn't work at Safeway or any other store that has giftcard mall and sells beer. YMMV if you venture outside Fred Meyer though.1 point

The movie just made me smile. The kinda smile you make when something really impresses a person and you just have to give props and say..."That's goooood." I loved the old school feel and sound.s. Everything seemed real., from the way the guns fire to the beat up look of all the ships. They reminded me of some WWII bombers and fighters. Kylo Ren's shuttle was awesome and the LEGO set doesn't really portray it well in my opinion. From a LEGO standpoint, there wasn't a lot of new or memorable vehicles to work with, but that is not a knock on the movie, just disappointing from a new set perspective.1 point

Kylo Ren is bad ass. I would say more terrifying than Vader due to his unpredictability. However, there is no music matching the imperial march like how Vader appeared on screen, which sort of dialed down the fear factor a bit.1 point

I dont believe that this set will rise extremly, because: 1) there is nothing special on this set - not licenced, no special figs, just bricks. OK, it can be nice for display, but how much will somebody pay just for this reason? If this set hit high price level, then most of the people say that they dont need this set + everybody can build this set using bricklinked bricks. If you are fan of Back to the future, you need the original set, because of figs. But you dont need Birds set to have birds from lego on the shelf... 2) after releasing this set, there was a silence about it, nobody was excited about it and the shelves in the lego store were always flooded by many Birds sets... no sign of big demand... 3) Some are arguing with the set 4002014-1 - but that set is extremly limited, and to be honest, everything limited is expansive in lego world, even if TLG makes a limited producton of set "****" consisting of several brown bricks :-) Question is - is the Birds set really retiring - just after 1 year, or we will see another "exosuit" story and a 2.wave will come with thousands sets, which will sit on the store shelves for another year or two...1 point
