I stop selling a week before Christmas to avoid "where's my package?!", or "If I order tommorow after I deposit my paycheck, do you think the mail can get it here the next day before I leave to travel out of the country?, Could you switch the delivery address and mail it to the airport so we can get it before we board the plane?" lol Oh and don't forget all the lies retailers including Ebay will spin, telling customers the estimated delivery time is 2 days, if you order on December 21st. To answer you question specifically though, I don't use FedEx, I use USPS and mostly Priority Mail, but all carriers regardless of who they are will be overloaded with work the closer the 25th comes. Delivery times will be longer but the carriers will not tell you that in person or on their websites.4 points

I have no idea, I thought 10664 would go down, so I dumped my remaining before Black Friday. Guess NOT! I can't explain why 6166 goes for $130 either???3 points

I hope not. I wouldn't spend 400, let alone 300 on something like that. I'm no fan of those micro figures.3 points

It's a very nice set indeed... but, These sets are slow sellers in my experience. Most of my (retired) large set stock is gone now. But at low margin and mostly to resellers. Many investors overstocked on Olivia House. Maybe they will stay away from this set? If so, it could be a sleeper. A personal field check also made me wary: My daughters don't ask for more Friends sets unlike at the start of this. I tried to trigger the Heartlake Town concept: play, build, extend & make a set-up, but there wasn't that much interest. They are mostly using the colored bricks to make their own creations, not asking for more of the same. (We have all sets incl. the shopping mall which was the last addition). I skipped the last wave (which was too much 'barbie' show model girly style for my taste) The only set that didn't get 'destroyed' was the Dolphin Cruiser. That's one they keep seperate and play with most. Conclusion: I'm staying away. There's still a stock of smaller or unretired sets left to sell too, so unless I see a better turnover on them, I remain on the sidelines. At start I was very positive on this - but in the end, these investments were close the the worst I've done since starting some years ago.3 points

Surprisingly, I already received a ready for pick-up email for a bunch of Hulk polys I ordered this morning. Of course, Thursday this same store told me they were out of them.3 points

I disagree. I am thinking $499 and larger than 10188. This is Disney's flagship and I guarantee they will require "bigger and better" than 10188. I also don't believe it is based on Rogue One. The new Death Star will be around for 4-6 years (possibly longer). IMO OT can carry it for that long. In 2022 will Rogue One be relevant? I know OT sure will be. I am assuming 75195 is an updated 10188. Not exactly the same but the iconic scenes will still be there (trash compactor, batlle with emporer etc) and plenty of the same figs with updated printing as well as a few new ones. Just my thoughts. I have a hard time thinking Disney is going to go smaller/cheaper than 10188 and I have a hard time believing such a huge investment is going to be a set based on one spinoff movie.3 points

I personally haven't but I work for Target. We have devices where we can search store inventories even for products not released yet. I'll do a search when I go into work tomorrow to see if we have it in our database.3 points

Interesting idea. Here's what they deployed at Legoland California earlier this year, that's similar to what you describe: There are also micro scenes like this: There is also a trench run diorama:3 points

Look at the buy limit of 1 on SAH all over the world. That is probably the reason it has not gone poof yet. Same for most of the exclusive sets. Lego seem to be holding true to their promise to ensure the sets are readily available to all fans, as the firm is setting limit of 1 at an earlier stage so that all fans get a fair shot at buying at least 1 set. Hoarders and investors have to adapt and buying small batches over a longer period of time, instead of rushing at the last moment. This is new normal.3 points

So the past few days have been exciting since LEGO finally slapped a "Retiring Soon" label on the list for the 10188 Death Star. Everyone should jump for joy and start yelling for the money to come rolling in right? Maybe, but it might be short lived or will it. According to the new database entry at Brickset, there is a new Death Star coming and it is listing as an Ultimate Collector Series model. So is this a totally new model, or another version of the old? Is it really "The Death Star" or "The Starkiller"? The new Starkiller base as it is referred to in Episode VII is described by the official Star Wars site as "An ice planet converted into a stronghold of the First Order and armed with a fiercely destructive new weapon capable of destroying entire star systems." Obviously this will be much different than what we have known for the last 40 years. Will this set be more of a model like the #10143 Death Star II, or a play set like the #10188 Death Star. Is this set going to be about the new movie or yet another rehash of the old. There are no details on piece count, minifigures or release date. Before you get all upset and get the feeling to dump all your 10188 Death Stars, you will have to wait and see what this model actually is. I would be surprised as anything to see them do another version of the original and honestly that would be pretty dumb if you ask me. If it is the new Starkiller version, it will be vastly different than the prior two models which to me will not effect the value of them and possibly even drive the values upwards. I am really excited to see what it might be. Regardless if it is a new version or old, I am hoping for a 5,000+ piece set!!! View full blog article2 points

The 10188 was really not that attractive IMO. It was an iconic set and value, but it really is not that easy on the eyes. It was a LEGO STAR WARS dollhouse and did an excellent job at that. I hope the new one is more adult oriented. It might be, because this one is a UCS while the 10188 was not.2 points

Yesterday morning I saw that AT-ATs are going for a lot on eBay. Probably because they are nowhere to be found in stores. Listed one for $170, sold in 3 hours. Relisted another one at $185 this morning, sold in two hours. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the lowest price on either of these. Decided to relist another at $250 and see if anybody takes the bait.2 points

Just received this email. Hi there, Great news! We’ve been looking into how we can improve our LEGO[emoji768] Ideas 21303 WALL·E set and we have an update for you. For those fans who feel LEGO WALL·E’s head moves a bit too freely, our designers have created an alternative build for the robot’s neck. In case you’d like to try out this alternative design, we’ve mailed you a small set of extra bricks and instructions free of charge. These should arrive within 10 working days. If you’ve already built your LEGO WALL·E and you want to try this new design, simply follow the instructions and use the new bricks to rebuild the robot’s neck. Of course, if you’re happy with your robot as he is, you can just add these bricks to your LEGO collection. Kind regards,2 points

I think it's set in stone that this is the giant flagship set for Rogue 1. Considering that entire movie is based on the Death Star, I think there is a very big chance that this is the premiere set that will be available on Force Friday next september when they release the initial bunch of figures and sets for the movie. If next weeks film is as good as I suspect, then I suspect star wars mania will be in hyperdrive over next year (yes, I'm now even convinced that the original death star is setting at the optimal time - right when a large % of people on the planet are going to be into star wars thanks to a new wave of movies). So, I think there will be a nice spike. This movie hysteria has created a demand for Star Wars products. Traditionally, most of the sets that are retiring at the moment would not be nearly as high right out of the gates if it wasn't for this demand. That's why we've already seen 195.00 At-At's, 60.00 jedi interceptors, and 185.00 for ISD's only a week after they became scarce. If this was 2013 or last year, that would not have happened like that. So, I suspect, if people play their cards right they could make some money on their death stars. Just hope that the new one is based on Rogue One, and not some minor update of the old one.2 points

On the expensive sets like these it may be a good idea to ask the seller to include a photo of the set along with their username written on a piece of paper. New seller, price too good to be true, obvious scam.2 points

just2good said it was just an updated, bigger, better version of 10188. There was skepticism when he said 10188 would retire, there was skepticism when he said a new Death Star was coming in 2016, and there is still skepticism about what exactly the next Death Star will be. It might be time to start believing him.2 points

Why are people so narcissistic. (There's no question mark 'cause it's not a question). I don't think Lego is creating or not creating any sets based on our actions. They're in business to sell sets. The only time they think of resellers is when they ban you...2 points
