The ban is a very interesting topic. I've said before, and I'll say again, that Lego wants its products to increase in value after they retire. TLG wants consumers standing there in the store holding that $200 set and thinking "I know it's expensive but these things become collector's items and that justifies the price. So I'm going to buy it." So to some extent, Lego requires a post-retirement secondary market (with much higher prices) to legitimize its MSRP prices and to augment the brand. This drives up sales and drives up profits. TLG wants this - but they want it after they decide to stop producing a specific item. What TLG doesn't want is people "scalping" their products - the QFLL in particular. Lego doesn't want you making a $20 profit off the set that you don't want to open and play with but somebody else does, and, unfortunately that "someone else" wasn't quick enough or informed enough to get it for himself, but you were. TLG doesn't want resellers stealing its profits and frustrating its "playing customers" because it can't keep up with all the demand and it can't keep 100 copies of each and every set on each and every shelf in each and every town on the planet. That's my two cents anyway. TLG wants to protect the people who play with their toys, but they also secretly love the massive price jumps when they retire a product - almost as much as we do.6 points

I really hope your Lego ID is not anything related to Mauro23 or you may be getting a personal visit from Jørgen Vig Knudstorp. And he won´t be coming to talk about the weather.5 points

How about trying "Weinerboy"? Is your LEGO S@H name the same as your eBay account?3 points

No... it is called Black Bounty in Spain. Anyway... never mind. Offcourse there will most probably more customers (kids) for the Brick Bounty. But therefore it is also widely available. If you sell EEE MISB you have nothing to fear from the stickers. The buyer will have to deal with them.3 points

Sold a couple Indominus Rex 75919 sets the past few weeks, which was nice. However, the best news was I received a credit/GC from eBay (since it was one of their Hot Items) replacing my fees. Which I then used to purchase a GC from StubHub and promptly bought 2nd row seats behind home plate to take my son to his first MLB game next year. Seats that I normally would never afford, but I thought “EBay credit/GC covered a good chunk, why not!?” Now, if only I could get Exciter to find me some corn dog coupons and we’d be all set! And I would like to say thank you to all those on this site that contribute and are helpful, I do appreciate it.3 points

I'm sure we bought from the same retailer as I also bought "10232 PC for 101 euro". :-) In addition, I purchased: 10243 Parisian Restaurant for 104,50€ 10236 Detective's Office for 104,50€ 75105 SW Millenium Falcon for 90€ 41101 Heartlake Grand Hotel for 79€ 75082+75084 SW bundle: Tie Advanced Prototye+Wookiee Gunship for 65€ 31038 Changing Seasons for 29€ 31036 Toy Shop for 19,50€ 31035 Beach Hut for 14,50€ 31031 Rainforest Animals for 9,50€ 60073 Service Truck for 14,50€ Those were some decent price reductions. Almost everything will be added to my personal collection though I'll definately get rid of 75082 from the SW bundle.3 points

So... Temple of Airjitsu... Got one with the recent deal with that free Serpent thingie set. This set is blimmin' GORGEOUS. The details, the building techniques... this deserves to be more popular than the modular buildings, all other things equal. Love the use of the speargun used as a desk lamp support, the upside-down garage jointed panels for the roofs of the buildings, the way the small curved staircases are build by simultaneously facing three directions. And the end result is breath taking. I don't even care about the minifigs (I'll probably sell them off). Just gorgeous.2 points

I built the Black Seas Barracuda today. Well, over the past week. I bought this on CL along with about 8 other pirate sets from the same era, and some LOTR sets. I got them all for $45. Total score, I have the box to Barracuda, and instructions for the dozen or so sets. The build was pretty fun. The old skool techniques are a bit painful compared to newer sets. One major difference is the instructions. The entire set was just 28 steps in the manual. I feel like a set this size would easily be 2 big manuals by todays standards. They packed in a lot of changes into each step. I had to backtrack MANY times because I missed something. There is no highlighting or diagrams for which parts will be used in the step. The minifigures are pretty cool, I can picture some good imaginative play with the blue vs red capped pirates. The interior details are very poor. There is a whole roof section that is hinged, that just reveals a simple treasure box. Very lack-lustre compared to the BP or QAR interiors. But the colors are pretty cool. I need to flatten my sails for sure, but I wanted to snap a quick pic with the finished product. I'm missing a few pieces that I hope are fairly common. If there are any classic pirate system fans out there, shoot me a PM if you are interested, I'm going to put it up for sale as soon as I get the spare parts.2 points

There's a good amount of sets that are retired after a year (or less) on the shelf. We simply don't talk about them because they aren't the big names--look at the Logging Truck from last year. It spent ~12 months at retail, gone, and now sells at 3x RPP via Amazon FBA.1 point

If your 10695 Creative Brick Boxes are priced around $50 on Amazon via FBA, they are flying off the shelves.1 point

I'm sad. I actually had to read this thread for the first time today. Damn me for being greedy... Closest store is 2 hours away ugh. There has to be a way around this. Perhaps I should get a girlfriend now and just get her an account. Or I can sell my house, move, and change my name... Prolly easier to sell my house, move, and change my name.1 point

Just want to share a little of my experience. Got an email last night saying Lego Store at Fairview Pointe Claire will have 60004 Fire Station, 75054 AT-AT and 40158 Private Chess on sale for 50% off. Hit the store this morning, arrived at 9:20. Because of rain there are some traffic the usually 25 minutes drive took me about 45 minutes. Not many people there and only 40158 is gone because this one is really 50% off set, 60004 and 75054 are still 40% off. Didn't take those cause my children have already got a 60004 and I have plenty of 75054 thanks to great mighty Walmart, but found they still have 79018 the lonely mountain for 40% off, should be a great deal so I grab 2. When doing check out the gentleman at counter told me 2 is the most one household can grab, and for these 2 the total price (after tax) is144.85 CAD(?!) They are OK for this so I said nothing, put these 2 79018 with GH and calendar onto my car and back to the store for a second visit. 75054 AT-AT at 40% off gone like hotcake, the stock depleted at around 9:50. They might have 8~10 79018. The good manager saw me "haunting around" then came up and told me if I like I can grad an extra one. They also have the promotion that buy a 70751 Temple of Airjitzu get a 70735 Ronin R.E.X for free, so also took these 2. When doing the second check out at around 10:30 the guy told me there was a glitch in Lego's system, so for the first 2 79018 the price I paid was 40% off on the already discounted price( 30% off), that is only 42% of the original price! But they have had it fixed, what a pity ! Also they refuse to give me GH and calendar for my second order, cause I have already taken them. Some of my observations: 1. They got the full line of JW sets on shelf, including RE and IR, just don't know how long it could last 2. Some Ninjago sets are also on sale for 20% to 30% off 3. They even have 10241 Triple E on sale for 20% off. 4. They got plenty of 60004 in stock, maybe 30+ Just wondering if there was the same glitch for AT-AT. Maybe should have grad at least 1.1 point

Lego Store in Montreal will run the nice 40-50% off promo until noon today, have no idea if this will be the same in all stores in Canada ... after everything's supposed to go back to 30% or less .. Best deals right now 40% on At-At, and few popstar friends .. nothing to get excited about !1 point

just bought the last one in the area (scotland - Aberdeen) for £110 at local store. Very very happy. Box was damaged slightly, but this is a build for me, so utterly delighted. Now I have one to build and one to save. Just had a look at the bags... what an immense set and great value for money!1 point

I think in this instance it's just a case of obtaining some additional stock (possibly retailer returns)1 point

Always happy when some one "digs up an old thread" with good news to add! Now just work some of that market appreciation magic over here in the US I have 2 of these, with buy in at US$70... but have had them going on 2 years now. Seems prices are going up here too... now about US$115 shipped on ebay. I'm guessing that would put about US$92 in my pocket... so not dancing in the streets, but nothing to complain about.1 point
