Indominus Rex Breakout $180.00 (Craig’s list) to a cop in full uniform and police car, it was the safest I ever felt meeting someone to sell something to. lol5 points

Some cashiers are trained to ask up front, "Are you paying with any Rewards today?" ... but most will forget to ask. As I have learned in this very thread... have cashier scan the rewards number on the back of your credit card, tell her you're paying with your Rewards MasterCard, scan / enter all coupons and get a total to pay. Know in your head about what that total should be, to make sure all the coupons "worked". Swipe your credit card, select "partial pay", pay up to the exact value of your Rewards certificate in your pocket. Then act a little ditsy, and say... "OMG... I almost forgot... can I pay the balance with this?" The cashier will see that there is exactly $50 due... will look at your rewards certificate with a big $50 on it... and say "Sure you can!".5 points

Me and my big mouth! There´s no witchcraft, smoke and mirrors or anything illegal or ethical. It just requires a bit of time to record which shops stock which items and what promos they usually do and when. After 2 years you can see a pattern develop so all you need to do is wait and time your purchases well r.e argos 3x2. Remember that here we have higher than average RRP prices so 50% is maybe only 30-35% off German prices and certainly nothing even close to US deals.5 points

At 7:28 AM EST, member 8lackmagic from the United Kingdom registered on our site and became our 50,000th activated member!!!! Brickpicker is also celebrating it's 4th year in existence which is exciting in itself. To know that we have been able to register 50,000 members in those four years is an accomplishment that I didn't think would honestly ever happened if you asked me a few years back. It's been amazing to see all the things that have happened over these past four years... 50k members, a book that has been published and just released with a second one in the works and we finally released our marketplace Brick Classifieds that offers ZERO selling fees and continues to gain traction more and more on a daily basis. Ed and I may not get everything right, but we do keep trying to bring new features to the LEGO community. We try to be a little different than the rest of the LEGO communities. This year, the #1 task will be to bring you major enhancements to the Brickfolio feature, something that has been long overdue. We also have a few other features that you will hear about in the not so distant future that can be a major impact for the members of this site and their shopping habits. In the end Ed and I would just like to say thank you for all your support of the site. We really love the community that Brickpicker has become and look forward to seeing where it will go!!4 points

21029 Buckingham Palace would be the 5th and Capitol 21030 is rumoured to be number 6. 6 in and 2 out means 4 left to go if they want to keep the numbers even. Don´t forget that White House and Brandenburg Gate have also been out longer and BG is repeated in the Berlin one so hopefully it will go too. Little Big Ben maybe too and then there is Imperial Hotel. It´s hard to say how it will pan out but IH is the only one I don´t have so that will probably go next! I´ll say Needle and BG now with a couple more to follow next quarter but no clue which (BB and Imperial maybe).4 points

Got to love the overly nitpicky aspects of some of you guys. Just like any set, this should be a big hit even with AFOLS. How many of you guys talking about the ECTO1 not fitting inside of it actually plan on building it and displaying it? If not, then it seems like a strange thing to complain about. I know for me, this will be built and displayed and be a fantastic companion to my ECTO1. Sure I am with some of you that there are tons of other things they could've done with such a huge set, but damn, 4600+ pieces for only $350??? And it looks like a lot of actual bricks and not just cheese wedges like the tower bridge. You have to admit that at that price and piece count, it's actually very promising. Think about the fact that Lego can make a 4600 piece set for $350. 10179 was only 500 pieces more for an extra $150. I know the license is obviously more pricey, but I highly doubt it's that much. So I'm very optimistic that we can see very nice big sets further down the road from Lego. It's just a fantastic time to be an AFOL. Everything about this set is just fantastic IMO.4 points

Well done, and a very wise choice! It's easy to part out these for 3x the price paid, with very little work. My AT-ATs have also shipped. By the way, it's quite nice to see even direct "competitors" helping out each other here. I'm not sure why this is so common between Lego resellers or part-out-ers, it must be the constant exposure to some aura radiated by a high density of Lego bricks at proximity... Thanks BrickPickers!4 points

All new sets with one of my regular buyers. Since no fees and he's one of my best buyers, I gave him below market for each set. Ended up clearing 65% profit over the prices paid after giving free postage. Need to buy more 26x26x26 boxes. These ULine double strength boxes are 100% awesomeness. 8 = 6860 Batcave 14 = 21013 BTTF DeLorean 6 = 79111Lone Ranger Trains4 points

I personally don't care if someone wants to drive all around florida, or canada and spend their time collecting JW to make a few grand. That's their prerogative. Some of you sound fairly young and don't have the daily time commitments others might have. So go for it. If that's your hobby or job, and you are making a living wage at it, then go for it. My point is that I don't plan on buying anymore, because i'm not going to spend anymore time chasing these down. My free time of late is fairly bogged down to where i'm stuck mostly chasing sets online, which is not really applicable with RE's at the moment. I do think these sets will be around 150 to 200 eventually, but it will take time. I did physically chase JW down in July/August and it did take up quite a bit of my free time that I have on the weekends. I'll probably see a few grand return on these too… Life is good, regardless. So, the reason I refuse to sell my stock now is that I don't have time to drive all around hundreds of miles picking up a bunch… I'm going to wait. Please understand not everyone has the same amount of free time.3 points

I agree 100% it's not as nice as the ideas one but it has a lot of nice features... Not being able to park the Ecto-1 without changes kind of stinks, but the reality is that I think most people who "buy and play" and who "buy and display" won't care. If I display it, the Ecto-1 will be outside on the street visible or "exiting" the HQ or .. something, I wouldn't display it parked in the building. I was trying to figure out where the piece count came from though... and I was originally thinking it had tons of 1x1 studs, plates and tiles and but that still didn't account for it... Then I realized - outside red/inside tan. To my knowledge, that's the first "modular" with a double wall so that the inside could be a different color than the outside. That's a win right there. Ed - feel free to use that in your next book.3 points

just go to the item page and to the left click "resolve a problem" , then choose buyer asked to cancel the order, no defect. There are 2 different systems being used right now by ebay. One will have a bunch of options and the other will just have 2, but either one will not count against you. The older system says "buyer won by mistake or changed there mind" and the new one says " buyer asked to cancel the order or there is a problem with the buyers address" something close to that anyways2 points

I would let the dust settle first. This way you could first see exactly what the buyer ends up doing (without escalating things). To follow up - Once your case (buyer threatened, etc) is made clear, you don't want to muddy up the communications with too much back & forth. Don't ignore them of course, but just keep it to a minimum. Remember that an ebay/paypal person will be reviewing this without any knowledge of the situation - so the less they need to go through the better.2 points

I don't know the details of your transaction, but if a buyer specifically threatens to leave a negative unless you comply with their demands, it can be removed.2 points

This is short-sighted. Although it is harder to predict when exclusives will retire, it remains fairly easy to predict when run-of-the-mill sets will retire. For example, it was pretty easy to predict that Emerald Express #31015 and Power Digger #31014 would retire this year. They went a little earlier than I thought they would, but those are two sets that I bought into heavily even at MSRP because they will be selling for at least 2.5x MSRP within a year and will sell quickly even at 3x-4x MSRP.2 points

There is no need to guess if lego will make a new ISD. Both lego and disney will milk every ounce of juice from SW. Even a trash can that appear briefly in the movie will be made into a toy.2 points

breathing = life = time. I think people are misinterpreting what i'm saying. My holdup is not people flipping these for profit, nor taking that profit and reinvesting it. Yes, technically going by the average amazon metrics over the last couple months, one could average selling 3 RE's and buying 1 back (at rrp with state sales tax included in) for free. If you can find the volume, and accomplish it.. go for it. That is great. My holdup is many claiming to clear at least 43 profit on these sets at the moment without factoring in real world costs. That sell 1 and get 1 for free has not happened yet. And sorry, I do factor in what I paid for it (which includes sales tax, a small amount in gas money for the effort, federal sales tax for capital gains, amzon/ebay fees, shipping costs, and materials and supplies that are required to make a sale), but that's just me..2 points

For what its worth I drove around my city for 3 1/2 hours and picked up 30 from a total of 4 walmart's. It did not take long and was quite fun. Of course I did spend gas, make a lot of left turns and bought 5 sliders and fries at a white castle that I have not been to in years. So costs were high but hey for a Europe retired set that may be retiring here it was worth the extra heartburn2 points

Got shipping confirmation on 6 King's Castle sets. I went a little nuts and split more of them (among some of the other smaller sets) but not shipping confirmation on anything else yet. With the ebay trend price at $249 CAD right now, I'm hoping to turn them over between now and Christmas. When they arrive I think I'll do a happy dance...2 points

Even though this set has had some controversy surrounding it, there is no doubt #75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters that it is a beautifully designed set. This is no small set! Coming in at 4,634 pieces and 12 minifigures (that I can see so far), you will get a lot of set, but it does have a steep price tag of £274.99 / $349.99. All I know is that your Ecto-1 will look great parked out in front of it. Take a look at the photos that have been released and get a good look of how they designed the inside of it.2 points

yup agreed, can't remember exact date but I posted it last year when I sold 60 of SW and 60 of City in 24-36 hours. It was late Nov I believe. Then sold whatever I could find at retail for the next 3 weeks up until about Dec 18th or so.1 point

For us in Slovakia (and middle Europe) is the situation much easier - we dont have any chance to buy exclusive sets with discounts. Classic toy shops here tdont have creator expert, UCS or Ideas sets, only several shops, but they dont give any discounts to such sets. Sometimes we have several exclusive sets in ONE Tesco store and sometimes went to discounts, but there is a 100x bigger demand than the number of available sets. Only sets going to discounts are classic series such as City, SW, etc. Same situation is in neighboring states. So the only chance is to buy exklusives with small discounts combining double VIP points and bonus sets in lego stores - in final, it can decrease the price by 20 %.1 point
