  2. Kai's Fire Mech for $28 FBA. $8 buy in. This falls in the category of "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink." I have a few of these I bought cheaply online and have held less than a year. After fees, etc., I'm taking home more than double my cost. Most people will overlook little sets--fine by me. #hiddengem

  7. Can't agree more. Compare to any of modular buildings, this GB HQ looks really plain and boring. It is just a B grade movie with a very catchy tune. Wow. You are dead to me now.

  11. Was just looking this morning and in the last couple of weeks, it appears sold prices on Ebay have really jumped on this. Many sales above $900 and a few above $1,000. I expected this jump, but not before December. I think the movie and Christmas may give this another $200 push.

  14. There are real easy solution for those that despise tipping. Stay home. Don't use services that generally rely on tips. Instead of b***hing about tipping, do something about it and don't patronize those businesses.

  19. Exactly... tips should be given voluntarely. When one is happy with the service. I do not like sometimes it is a common thing. Like in restaurants it is written in the menu how much the minimum tip should be. Cause then the waiter or whoever becomes sloppy. Cause they will get tipped anyway. I always give generous tips. If I have to be scrooge about that I'd rather stay home and cook myself. euhhh... I mean.... let my wife cook.

  24. I can see how people may not have much faith in this set but something to consider is that it didn't make it to 2 years. That's great news in Lego investing. I don't think one would need to be a fan of The Lego Movie to want this. It's a ship, large ships historically do well. I believe that most people would assume they "thought they had more time" to get one of these. I believe it's down to Amazon & Target now in the U.S. For people asking "what Lego set to buy" I would recommend this set. I don't believe it's heavily hoarded but one would need to be patient...my 2¢

  25. Looks like the designer did a good job at recreating the real thing, even if it is a plain brick building. If the interior is similar to the Kwik-E-Mart that he did then expect lots of detail and plenty of microbuilds.

  29. As for its exact retirement date, hard to tell indeed. But the set is making progress towards its end of production. Step 1: start of a new set. Max order 1 unit step 2: interest wanes from fans. Sets available in multiples online and in B&M stores step 3: set isn't visible in b&m for a while. In the end it gets a new large production run. The last one. Or not. (T1 Camper) Step 4: TLG continues to produce smaller quantities for its own distribution network. Online and the lego stores. Step 5: set goes Oos regularly. (DS) Step 6: horde goes crazy as it predict retirement. TLG starts a new production run. Stockpiles increase. Market gets flooded for very popular sets. (Red five) Step 7: one more production doesn t get absorbed rapidly. After another oos the secondary market only marks up the set 20%. Tlg decides to pull the plug. (Pet shop) The only way to accelerate this process based on sales and set popularity, is product renewal rate, licenced theme, product glitches, retirement of mold, better building techniques. Glad to read your improvements to this step by step process.

  30. As you can read in my comments before this set really gets to me. I mean I want it NOW! Reading all these "negative" comments I have no doubt that most people here who are writing them now will BUY BUY BUY the set later. And I'm betting that some of you will even love this set for yourselves. I didn't like Kylo Ren's Shuttle (and still won't build it) but having seen it on display I must confess that it looks better than I thought it would be. I agree that LEGO could have added some minor exterior details to improve this model even more but this is a solid build with or without nostalgia. If you can't see that comparing it to the modulars then maybe you will once you see it in person. The Quick-E-Mart or the Simpsons House both look rather plain to me as well but opening them you can discover all kind of fancy details that make these sets awesome. (And the exterior isn't half-bad either). But please: Everyone who thinks this set is boring, too expensive, should have been better, etc. please please please!!! just stay away from this set. Don't buy it for yourselvesl. Don't buy it as investment. Don't even buy it for others. Leave this set to people who love it already. I guarantee you this one will be a winner as soon as it is released as well as down the road. Please feel free to quote me if I'm wrong later on :-P By the way: http://shop.lego.com/de-DE/Feuerwehr-Hauptquartier-75827

  36. Too crowded? Maybe, maybe not--I still had to hold it for 10-11 months. Many won't hold anything for 30 days/until their credit card payment is due. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

  37. No excuses now! You offered the guarantee!!! ^.^ Last time I offered my GF a guarantee was HH. I told her that I want her to buy at least two of these. If they don't appreciate I'll buy them from her. If they do appreciate she can do with them whatever she wants. Guess who thanked me last month after selling one? That's a guarantee :-P

  41. Finally got around to updating the messaging center on Brick Classifieds. Today we pushed new updates to finally have decent looking area to view, compose and reply to messages. It is a little easier to navigate. We will be addresses a few other rough looking areas in the near future as well. Please let me know if you run into any issues when communicating with a buyer or seller.

  42. Ahhh, the age old tip debate. I work in an industry where most, if not all, workers rely on tips. It's not that this industry doesn't pay well, it does (at least compared to food service/bartentending). The whole "business owners should pay their employees more" argument simply doesn't work in my industry. Sure I could double my employees pay, but in doing so I'm raising my rates to cover it. Problem is there is a limit to what the average person will pay for a service. If I raise my prices to the point that I cover what my employees make with tips, my number of clients drops by 20% or more ( I tried this a couple years ago). In other words, leaving things as is and encouraging tipping makes both me and my employees more $$$ in the end. I have a feeling all the "raise the pay and eliminate tips" people have either never working in and industry where tipping was prevalent or don't own a business. As far as how Eurpoe handles things I Don't Care. I'm not European, I have no plans on ever being European, so why should I give a crap if they're socialists...er if they tip?
