  1. The main Daily Deal thread that has been here for so long is without a doubt dominated by US deals and discounts. Canada pokes in there from time to time and then of course an occasional deal from a European region makes it's way in there. Obviously this does not really work well for non US regions and we want to try and fix this. This thread here will become the go to place to post deals for the UK, European countries and for now, just about anywhere else until we see the need to give a region another thread if it takes off. We completely understand that it would have been futile or intimidating to throw bits of information for German deals in a US dominated thread and we think will allow all of our Non US members to benefit from each other's discount and deal knowledge. We will do our best to get deal alerts in this thread as much as possible. We hope this becomes as successful as the other thread for everyone.

  4. This was the most appropriate thread I could think of to post this, the USPS has posted some rate increase information that is proposed to start January 2016. In short, it's a double digit percentage increase across the board. One thing that stands out is First Class Package rates. Although increasing 12.8%, the weight limit moves from 13oz to 16oz. So there is some good mixed in with the bad (the rate increase). There is a pretty good blog post about it here: http://blog.stamps.com/2015/10/22/usps-announces-postage-rate-increase-starts-january-17-2016/

  6. did you really compare Greg to Paul Blart? He was a pretty active member before a mod and speaks pretty much the same. He just calls it out the way he see's it. Now he has some magical dust to delete some crap that does get annoying. But he ain't no Paul Blart. That guy has a cool segway...

  11. Can you guys stop arguing about how many five dollar bills you're making or not making? Seriously it's been said about 30 times in this thread and it's annoying. I'm going to start deleting posts that argue about it because they add absolutely ZERO value at this point and I'm not embellishing that!

  14. I think the best deal I actually ever had on LEGO was finding BrickPicker back in 2012. I can't think any deal that was really better than this.

  15. Back several years ago, Chicago Brick Convention: everyone who attended received an evening pass to shop in one of the two Chicago land Lego stores. Everything had some damage to the boxes, a lot to very little. I was one of the 1st ones to draw a early number to get in the store. I picked several goodies, i did miss the death star. Everything was 1/2 price. I grabed a Green Grocer for $75.00, I already had one for our town collection. 2 months ago, on e-bay, it sold for $1,200 plus shipping to Singapore, a good customer of mine. We were both Happy, Happy, Happy!!!

  18. I'm one of those that it isn't "clear" at all that these sets aren't going to retire soon. I know, call me crazy, call me a rookie, etc., but I'm just not sure these aren't done. I have a very modest holding of each compared to some and do plan on selling most for the Christmas frenzy, but I don't think buying anything that includes "LEGO" & "Dinosaurs" as wasting money. This isn't directed at you, but I'm tired of people making generalized statements like " there is plenty of sets that fan be bought right now that will retire this year and can be sold next year." Sure, I bet there are, which ones? My list of active sets shows right at 475. Tell me, which of these 475 are getting ready to retire and should be bought now and sold next year for a better return than RE, RR, TRex, or IRex. I can predict there will be 10 that does so simply because the odds say that at least 2.1% of all active sets will outperform those sets. But who benefits from that? TELL me the sets I should be pouring my money into RIGHT NOW and holding until next year that would be better than pouring the same money into these sets, selling by Christmas, and then buying those same sets you would purchase now in their stead. That would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently thinks I'm writing something derogatory by using the state abbreviation of Georgia. Which by the way is the name of a city in Georgia too of which a cow farmer got denied his license by the government because there system kicked it out too.

  26. $500 on a dudes personal collection. Mostly everything was new without box. Looks like he just threw away the boxes and kept the sets unbuilt unopened. Had old castle, samurai, ninja, Star Wars, Technic, Harry Potter etc. sold 95% of them for well over $3000.

  29. In Europe, during the current sales season, I could have picked them up at 55E BUT resisted the temptation. (even though on BL they sell 70E regularly) It's a set that never seems to want to retire. At that price, othe resellers didn't hesitate and the set is out of stock for now. So I'm not sure I acted as a (greedy) idiot, or made a wise decision. But normally the set should have retired : it has 2 other similar alternative sets and is over time (>3years). And it has not. AND B&M stocks are high AND it is one of the most popular hoarded sets. So I'm actually more worried about it never retiring than to get even more at a nice price. Just my view of course.

  30. Hmmm? Wasn't that a given?

  31. why would this set perform this year as it did last year ? It is much more hoarderd and more available than last year by a wide margin . folks were buying by the three digits (exaggeration) on Walmart that one time and it lasted for hours.

  32. I envy you for the Falcons. Let those quidditch go this xmas. Most potter sets already peaked or is peaking. Invest that money to something else.

  33. I'm holding firm on selling these at $120-$150+ ... Those that don't sell go to cold storage. After all it is presumed this is year two of this Xmas set and will retire once stock dries up. I would expect Lego to either stop or non stock these past February like it was this year. Patience is the key.

  35. If analogy serves, the Trick or Treats and Thanksgiving Feasts dried up at the store at least a month before the holiday--the latter lasting a little bit longer than I expected--then there was the usual race to the bottom, where people who could easily have gotten $20 settled for $17-$18, and then the slow-and-steady-wins-the-race crowd watched as the demand finally started creeping up to our asking price. Kudos to the recent sales of Trick or Treat on ebay that are getting $21 and $22 with time left to spare until Halloween. Thanksgiving Feast has been dabbling in the $17-$18 range, but looks like it might climb to near $19 by the end of this weekend. SW is a hot seller and the ones who panic and price low will be left to watch the holdouts sell theirs in December for a good gain. Looking at my spreadsheet, I sold SW at $95 on 11/22; $99 on 11/25; $130 on 12/1; $150 on 12/3 before I couldn't find any more at the stores

  36. One of my better finds was 4737 Harry Potter Quidditch for $13 at target clearance. I bought all 40 and still have 30. Second find was at a Lego store. Bought 5 10179 for full price before they would ban you and still have three of these MISB

  42. Yes. You should liquidate everything you own and buy all the Tie Fighters you can find and do so TODAY! This is clearly going to be the biggest curveball that TLG has ever thrown at resellers because what multi-billion dollar company doesn't spend millions of dollars of its production, distribution, and advertising dollars on a flagship product only to kill it within months of release.

  43. That just sounds weird to me. I mean how much more 'Christmassy' can you get than the fat guy in a red suit's unsanctioned sweat shop employed by a handful of vertically challenged individuals working their butts off throughout the entire year with all effort directed towards only one day with him ultimately getting the credit and praise worldwide. It's simply mindboggling.
