I am POed because I gave you important information and you repay me by dissing months of work. You made money off of my information and now you are taking money out of my pocket. We ask nothing of members besides clicking on some links, yet we hand out free quality information daily so people can make money from it. If you have problems with what we do and promote here on this site and in the book, I can't help you. There is an old American saying, "It is what it is." Deal with it.6 points

not very cryptic at all this time. Cryptic was saying the Exo thread would get busier a few days before it went on sale. Which for a brief period it did lol. But then everyone realized it was afterall the exo thread and back to normal.5 points

I have been working with the same guys at my job for years. They all know of this site, the book, have seen the photos of my LEGO, Ed's LEGO, etc. When the SSD was on it's way out I told them to pull the trigger and in a few months they can make a few bucks (many other sets as well). Over the past few years, not one of them have purchased a single set. These are all guys with expendable cash and space to store it, yet they didn't want to get involved. They may buy the book to support me because they think it's cool, but that is about it. I really don't think the book will create a firestorm of new investors. The casual LEGO buyer and collector will be interested in learning what their collection may be worth just like in other collectables. I am just hoping we sell at least 100 copies4 points

That's a great point and one that is not often discussed on this site. Not everyone on this site or who finds this site is a reseller or potential reseller. Most are just fans of LEGO and care that their collection is worth money.4 points

Instead of posting this in MOC highlights I feel like it's more appropriate to post it here ;-) Some of these might not be "architecture" (at least one ;-) ) but I'll post it here anyhow as it belongs to my series ^.^ This time the topic is asian architecture. I've found so many great MOCs that I cannot possibly post them all but I'll try to share some of the bests with you. Let's start with the simpler but still beautiful ones and work our way up. 1. https://www.flickr.com/photos/113119815@N06/15034180599/in/dateposted/ A very nice wooden gate by Kanji-Kanji-hiroshi (I cannot read the Kanji but the hiragana mean hiroshi ;-) ... so some japanese guy anyhow ) And an awesome cherry blossom tree! 2. Secondly we have a interior scene by "konze" https://www.flickr.com/photos/k0nze/7285602026 I like the simplicity of it. 3. Next we'll have a nice interior scene in some japanese teahouse by "gabriel" https://www.flickr.com/photos/55631421@N03/page1 I really like the detailed and yet simple interior even though I feel that the floor of "konze"'s moc (number 2) is more realistic. The exterior sure is an eyecatcher with the small cherry tree and the stonefloor. Also the bricktecture of the roof is great. 4. Last but certainly not least! I hope I can upload all of these picture ;-) These are just some builds of Hung Andy https://www.flickr.com/photos/andybear0426/ who has built many great stunning MOCs. You should check out his flickr account! Here are some details of the temple... These are pieces of paper, small fortune telling papers normally. Ringing the bell :-) And I guess these are supposed to be small wooden plates (also fortune stuff) Check out this awesome CRAB! restaurant. There's also a great interior. I guess these are dumplings... anyhow very nice detailed building and interior! Hope you enjoyed this asian architecture post :-)4 points

Turned out ok. UPS delivered a giant stack of boxes just as our dinner guests were arriving. So I had to explain that. BUT, all of my advent calendars were perfectly individually packaged. I spent 10 minutes opening each one, pulling out all of the invoices and crap, then stuffing in more plastic pillows. Just need to sell them and send them out. That will save me a ton of time.4 points

the points awarded change doesn't have anything to do with EOL really, just when something is not on the list it would appear to be a pretty strong sign that it is not planned to be around. The $250 sets started out as 500 pointers, then were 1000 points and now dropped back down to 500. Could be that they weren't selling at that one point and raised them. I feel 500 is low for a $250 set as its only 10% off. I will pass on most of the 250 sets now. At a 1000 it was worth it to me for the damage. Back in the old days you could still get the 10,20, 30 off for varying amounts of damage. Found a TB the other day that I had gotten 30% off from the heavier damage. The points system doesn't allow that. Other sets have changed, Ecto 1 was originally a 500 point set which was great and they realized it was to high and they dropped to 100 points. The interesting part is that the sets are not on there for the new list as they probably will not be around while the others that perhaps were thought to be going are still on there. No time frame still but is interesting to note.4 points

Ed received the first copy of the book to review from the publishers and I am finally getting my first look at it. I have to say, it's pretty exciting to see months of work in a completed form. It really looks great and very proud of it. There is only about a month to go before it's released to the public which will be both exciting and nerve wracking to see what everyone thinks. If you haven't preordered it yet, pre-order it from Amazon now!3 points

Not trying to take a shot but to look at it differently. I thought it was a tad weird that someone would get worried by a single book written by 2 guys could somehow hurt a lego reselling business but not worry a little more about a website DEDICATED to sharing lego info EVERY single day by by LOTS of resellers. I am laughing as i type this because it just makes no sense to me. I would be sooooo much more worried about this website (and the other lego sites) giving away info rather than a single book. The scale of info is not remotely close on any level, new sets, retired sets, updated prices....etc...etc... If this book actually hurt anyone's business then i would highly recommend reevaluating said business and make appropriate adjustments because something was severely wrong to begin with. Already ordered 2 books and cant wait.3 points

I went and pre-ordered the book the moment I saw rfish take a run at you. I stopped, thought about the value you've provided me (mostly indirectly), and figured the $20 or whatever for the book is a small price to pay to help support what has been an amazing resource. I mean, his title was "Brick Troller" before he even chimed in here!3 points

There is a "losers" section. There is another book planned, but it is about minifigures. We will be announcing that shortly to the members and there will be an opportunity for members to show off their creative abilities and make money from doing it...and maybe get famous as well. LOL3 points

Believe me, if I wanted to take away your freedom of speech, your original post would have been deleted and your account locked. No other LEGO site that I know of lets members make derogatory and negative comments about the site and site owners and get away with it. We give people plenty of rope to hang themselves, but at some point, the slack ends. You say the book is probably good, but you can't support it because it has the word "invest" in it. So be it. I get it. It was a fine line writing the book and not promoting the investment aspect of it, but it's there. Of course it's there because collecting items for monetary reasons and investing in items is almost one in the same. But it is not the main focus of the book. It's about valuable (and not so valuable) LEGO sets, their values and what makes them that way and it will help a lot of novices out there in picking the sets that could appreciate in value. As for writing books and doing interviews, I will not apologize for trying to support my family. It's all about the brand and if a publisher or major media outlet wants to talk about our site and LEGO investing and collecting, we will. You don't get many chances in life to make a difference and this is an opportunity that we cannot pass up. I know there are people who disagree with this and want to keep the world of LEGO investing all to themselves, but I know that we are helping more people than hurting...by a large amount. You must realize though that while we do let people vent on the site, there is only so much we will tolerate. If a person's comments affect the brand in a negative way, they won't be here for long. This really is not a democracy. Sorry. What's funny is that many people who take a negative tone towards what we do around here are still here. The post occasional negative comments or even just lurk, but they find value in the site and visit it frequently. There is no way to build a community like we have without reaching out to new members. The community is what makes this site special and people sharing information is what enables many to profit in the LEGO investing and reselling world. Personally, I think you were unfair to us, and me in particular. When you came to me multiple times for information, I could have blown you off, yet I spent my time and gave you valuable insider information that should have helped you make money. You could have easily sent me a PM and told me of your issues with the book and we could have discussed it, but you chose to announce to the world that you "WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS BOOK!" over some semantics. You want to tap my knowledge and keep it from others, yet could be damaging sales of our book in the meantime. To me, that's just not acceptable. You don't have to buy the or leave glowing reviews, but when someone does you a favor, you should have the courtesy to tone down the rhetoric.3 points

I couldn't disagree more. I do agree I would skip v1 if I were buying in Feb, but would I return those that I have? Absolutely not! Do you really believe parents are going to tell their kids, "Sorry Timmy, I know you want one for Christmas and I'm prepared to spend $100 for it, but there's a $4 neck issue with this one, so let's just wait until the middle of February"? I have the LEGO CS number I can provide to demanding customers if I do get someone that is upset over a known neck issue which costs $4 to fix. And to be honest, I don't believe kids give a flying kite about the 'drooping' neck issue, not so much that they'd rather wait for 2 months instead of getting one for Christmas.3 points

As far as I know, there is no way to mark "issues settled" unless there is a case opened. You can detail the agreement on eBay message and have her agree to it, it would probably help you should there be a case opened down the road. How much it helps would depend on eBay CS handling that case.3 points

Some of those nicks and dents from Amazon you have to accept and let go. Like you said, you don't want to get your account flagged by Amazon for excessive returns or replacement requests. For shipping I would recommend ordering some of the free non-flat rate Priority Mail boxes from USPS.com. They will fit most small and even a few medium sized sets very well. They don't seem to be terribly thick but I've never received a complaint about a LEGO box getting damaged when using them for shipping.3 points

few interesting notes that somewhat relate to possible retiring soon. damage points levels changed for some of the price points again. New list was made. Ewok, TB, Sea Cow , SOH, Sandcrawler, Helicarrier all on it one notable set not on it. DS3 points

I just preordered my copy. Figure you've been a customer so now I will be one. Was looking for the add on cryptic cipher accessory but could not find it. Think the marketing team dropped the ball on that one... Will there be a "new" cover for prolonged life? after it retires will you re-release it? Hoping it has seal codes too. Questions that I will be asking closer to eol...3 points

Thanks for asking. I'm working from home on an online card game. It's long hours and not great pay, but I've never felt more motivated to work on anything. Since the work is so fulfilling, I don't need to get addicted to buying Lego for a buzz! And the Lego selling (when I bother to do it) helps make up for the lost income from the other job that I couldn't stand.2 points

Just saw these show up at my Walmart... a display peg rack full... maybe 80 or 90 packs. So right away I got to smooshin'... after about 20 or 30 I hadn't found anything interesting, and I realized that these packs had been thoroughly molested already... I suddenly felt so dirty... I had to stop, and go wash my hands.2 points

There were 3 listings yesterday, with the low Buy It Now of $37 when I listed mine. Then, throughout the day it was a race to the bottom, with a few going for $28 or so. Now 31 listings with lowest at $29.50. Some of you guys might be right... these could be $40 or $50 at Christmas time... but my general policy on promos has always been "get-it-listed-and-get-it-gone", so I dumped 'em.2 points

The hoard attacked stock levels pretty quickly earlier in the year. LEGO couldn't keep up and I'm sure some folks capitalized on the shortage. Perhaps everyone has their quota now and its up to the mainstream consumer to finish this off.2 points

Just sold all four of mine at $29.99 each (shipped). I don't like wasting my time "making boxes", but I really didn't have anything that would fit this one well, for First Class shipping. So I found a quick mod I could do to a standard 6x6x6 Walmart Duck box ($0.47 ea)... it doesn't take too long and fits perfectly. Weighs just under 11 oz, packed and ready to go. BTW, the UPC on this one is 673419 232074. Not sure if there's any interest but... seems a lot of sellers using canned web images... I took some photos of mine. PayPal me $1, and I'll be glad to email you your own unique photos - 2 images, front and back, 1200 x 1600 pixels, not "professional quality", but better than 90% of eBay photos.2 points

Krause Publishers is the publisher and they are legit and specialize in collectibles. Amazon is just one source. It should be available in other places. This is all new to us and we are not sure exactly where. I just want to say that Jeff and I put months of work into the book and we believe it is a real value. We appreciate the positive responses from people and we hope you invest $20 for a really nice book. This was not meant to damage or hurt anybody, but I'm glad we did it because it was done with class and quality information. I expect it to be ready by late November. We will get some copies, but do not expect to start selling books personally...or at least not on a large scale. Once again, thanks for all the positive support.2 points

Oh I don't know. Seems like the "there are too many investors and its overcrowded" theme that's been going on for awhile.2 points

Could you imagine a BPC!? That would be a very interesting event. Everyone would be wearing their screen names on their name tags. Personalities that clash online would be meeting face to face, you would almost need to set up an octagon to settle some scores. It would be awesome!!!2 points
