I think this pretty much sums it up. A five year old boy (my son) watching Star Wars for the first time ever. The Death Star is... fascinating. When it is gone (whenever, if ever, that finally happens), just sit back and watch the prices skyrocket as this moment (pictured below) happens again and again all over the world.10 points

I just made my first brick classified sale, a Death Star for $480. Ever since the no fees announcement I wanted to list a few things to support it. This sold within an hour of posting.6 points

My advice is to do the right thing and give your customer his money back since he returned the item. Obviously your buyer was new and did not understand the correct returns process but IMO that does not mean you get to screw them over regardless of what the hacks at ebay CS tell you. In these situations I like to spend no more than 5 mins thinking about what to do. All the time spent thinking about it, contacting ebay, trying to contact the seller, you are losing productivity, money, and also missing out on other opportunities. So many sellers on ebay make things personal and lose out on so much time and money because of it as well as adding to the perception that it is a bad marketplace. Treat it like a business and your results will improve exponentially. Sounds like you may be out $10 in shipping? I bet if you had thought it over for 5 mins and just refunded your customer you would have moved on to other deals or listed more items and be up a few hundred dollars overall by now. Nobody likes returns but they are a part of doing business online and finding a way to get past them emotionally as well as allowing the correct margin to deal with them financially will lead to big money down the road.6 points

Walmart had pretty much all the $29.97 regular priced Friends, Princess, and Elves on clearance for $9. They were not marked or in the clearance section, so check your area if you're interested. 41052 - Ariel's Magical Kiss (x4) 41053 - Cinderella's Dream Carriage (x2) 41093 - Heartlake Hair Salon (x4) 41100 - Heartlake Private Jet 41036 - Jungle Bridge Rescue (x3) 41097 - Heartlake Hot Air Balloon (x2) 41073 - Naida's Epic Adventure Ship6 points

A dark cloud has settled over Legoland, as war has erupted between two of its proudest themes! For over a year, Heartlake City and Fabuland have coexisted by maintaining a tenuous ceasefire. That all changed the day after the Communist Dictator of Fabuland passed away, leaving his only son to take his place. Eager to prove he is nobody's fool, and clearly trying to compensate for a plethora of shortcomings, Fabuland's new leader, Patrick Pig has declared war on the Friends of Heartlake City! As a result of this provocation, President Olivia and Secretary of Defense Mia, has called their Friends to arms. Inside sources tell us that they haven't seen the Friends this fired up since the SPARK Movement questioned little girls' love of puppies and the color pink! Nasa plans to announce major scientific finding about Mars: http://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-to-announce-mars-mystery-solved If the rover has discovered water or even signs of life... we Earthlings would have so many questions, like how would it impact the Lego Mars Rover? It's already orbiting at around $100, but could it skyrocket to $1,000? If the rover found life, it could become the most famous exploration vehicle in history.4 points

One of the best parts of this hobby... coming home and seeing a pile of boxes sitting at the front door and totally forgetting what's inside most of em. Its like christmas! Before: I'm sure most Canadians recognize the infamous black-wrapped item :\ luckily they don't have much damage. After: Some JW to flip this holiday, Scooby-Doo for Halloween decor, bunch of pieces for the Bat-Pod (incl hero factory stuff), and i don't own Dimensions (nor do i really plan on getting it), but i really love Portal, and this little set is great even if it were just for the minifig.3 points

I remember this guy who owns a B&M toy store and sold online, too, noticed something similar. He started dropping a business card into the order to get the business direct lol3 points

I'm jealous that he has the ISD to swoosh around while he's watching. That's awesome!3 points

Some good points. I see the distant "availability notice" from LEGO as a means to halt production on EV (and other sets) so that they can divert production runs to other newer sets like TFA and seasonal sets. Additionally as Waddamon pointed out there is no guarantee that EV will go back into production for a Jan release. Chalk it up to yet another fine example to support the argument that it is futile to try and predict TLG's actions.3 points

I scored a decent craigslist lot this morning. All sets are used/complete with instructions. No boxes. 10216 Winter Village Bakery 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop 4996 Creator Beach House 3833 Krusty Krab Adventures 3827 Adventures in Bikini Bottom All five sets for $125.3 points

Tonight a picked up a used complete w/ boxes lot with 10225 - UCS R2-D2, 9493 - X-Wing, & 9492 - Tie Fighter for $380 shipped on EBay. Looks like a real nice lot and well kept by a collector. This way I won't be torn about opening my personal copies and I can offload them and cover most of the cost with profit.3 points

The Pet Shop is on its ninth life. If you want any I would move now. It is the just months away from being the longest running modular.2 points

You basically need to buy an item that's $98+ if using TRUTH + 20%. I also think that it's pretax amount, but the expert BoldTRUTHArrow can confirm.2 points

You're right. LEGO Shop at Home wouldn't mark HH as "Retired" before Halloween b/c it retired after Halloween. It did however get marked as "Sold Out" before Halloween.2 points
-
Yup. They would never retire the Haunted House right before Halloween either. And no way they retire Town hall before Pet Shop.2 points

You can buy from me--always a shipping box, 90% of the time a brand new box, appropriate packing, and a handwritten "thank you." We don't all suck, but the one's who do make the rest of us look really good.2 points

They may have. I went to a store format a few months ago because I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany2 points

You guys are making me crazy. Just went to my main Target and found a full rack again today... (but they had 21 fewer when I left). I hooked on smooshing.1 point

So, if the 1st 5 minutes of SW VII show a bunch of flametroopers burning the entire population of the moon of Endor to the ground, will that impact positively or negatively to the future value of this set?1 point
-
Really? It would seem pretty logical from a business perspective to retire some of the older and larger sets, and replace them with newer and larger sets that are actually based on the new movie. It's not like kids are going to walk away from Force Awakens begging their parents to get them a set that is based on an entirely different movie or adults are going to walk away thinking "Gosh, those First Order badguys are really bada**, I really need to go pick up Ewok Village."1 point

I have to disagree with you on these being available for the foreseeable future. I have many targets, walmarts, Walgreens and tru available to me and they have seemed to have dried up. I doubt these will be around once Halloween has come and gone.1 point

That is a very good point. May be time to snap up those crisp, fresh new boxes.1 point

6271 - Imperial Flagship. I realized during this build how spoiled I've become with the super-detailed instructions that come with sets these days. Those that haven't blocked it out remember a series of pictures with pieces randomly appearing in various places and you had to figure out what was "new" from one picture to the next. Needless to say, I did my fair share of building, rebuilding, and cursing under my breath. Love the ships though...my latest obsession is working on a display of square-rigged ship evolution through the LEGO ages.1 point
-
It's a scam. They will want you to photograph the back so they can use those numbers to steal parts from LEGO Shop at Home's replacement program.1 point
