When I calculate my strategy, the first constant in my code is the assumption that all my competitors are getting their product for free.7 points

In the last couple of days, I've sold a 75021 Republic Gunship for $199 shipped (eBay), another BARC Speeder (Captain Rex!) for $46 shipped, and the first of my Town Halls for $565 shipped. I know, I know... "too soon" on the TH. But this week, I made my wife a believer. (Well, she always believed, but now she's all-in all-in.) Not to mention it's getting mighty crowded in the 3rd car garage. I'll take that margin. Oh yeah... another retro pirate for $12. Arrrrrrrrgh.7 points

I created it I may still be able to update it even though I am out of stock. I sold 44 on that listing some as high as $106 shipped. Plenty of people search by set number. What title would you prefer? Edit changed the title to see below, but because of changes in the system since I created the ad it is no longer linked to both asin #'s they only allow one single number in that field now. Wasn't it the Yanks who came up with "New Math"? What the heck is that? Might explain the following: American capitalism - You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States, leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release. The public buys your bull3 points

When I first got word I won it, I was nervous myself about whether I should open it or not. After I thought about it, honestly the box, and instructions are going to make the set worth its money. I truly believe with this set, that even opened, having the box and instructions, it's still going to be worth a crap ton of money once all the initial dust settles. It will obviously be less than a sealed one, but it won't such a stark price difference unlike other sets either, just because of the sheer rarity of the set. And besides, IMO, this set deserves to be opened and displayed next the to the Tumbler!!!!3 points

You know, I've been thinking about this set a lot and the way Lego keeps holding onto it and producing the set. Seeing as this is a re-make from 7191 that is now pushing 16 years old, and the prices for the most part have held steady, and this set has been around for I believe starting 3 years, I think this can bode well for possible re-makes of older more outdated UCS sets. I bring this up, because over the last couple of years that I've been here, a lot of you have been talking about how this set is going to be a stinker and everything, and yet Lego continues to produce it. So in the scheme of things, I hope Lego continues to do this honestly. Let's face it folks, those that honestly believe these really old UCS sets are going to have the bottom drop right beneath them are being a little too pessimistic about some of the more hardcore collectors. I say this because, look at how far building techniques have advanced since these sets first came out in the early 2000s. Even if they re-make any of those older UCS sets, it's going to be significantly different enough, that completionists will still want to pay good dollar for the older ones. But Lego gets the added bonus of more money in their pockets, and more potential buyers heading into the secondary market to find other sets all you investors are holding onto. So IMHO, I think with the apparent success of this set, I look forward to seeing what else Lego decides to do in the scheme of UCS re-makes.3 points

SW has been unavailable from a retailer at MSRP since April until this week. i had been buying them weekly at amazon until they finally dried up. SW were already selling for $115-120 on amazon all summer long. I sold half my stash of 30 left over from earlier in the year at that price, took that capital and 20-30% profit and reloaded with another 4 dozen from walmart's incredible bounty the other night. Obviously I'm bullish on this set. How can you not be. It's the flag ship Santa Claus LEGO set. Those thinking its going to be easy to find, I hope you are right so I can continue to acquire stock. Dolphin cruiser comparsions? This is Santa Claus we're talking about. Kris Kringle. Saint Nick. No stinkin' Friends yacht gonna hold a candle to Santa Claus and his slave elf labor toy factory. $150 this xmas seems like a gimme, especially once the hoarde is engaged and scarcity ensues. it will be out of stock during xmas season and won't come back until Feb/March when regular folk are not buying holiday themed LEGO. 200 early post EOL is also a pretty safe bet. I can understand the reticence at investing in Holiday theme with the recent turn of events and I encourage everyone to play it safe and NOT invest in Santa's workshop. The other set i have a small pile of cash waiting on the side to go all in on is if the scandalously titled "XXXL BOX" 10697 is Walmart's 2015 Black Friday Creative tower -like offering for $30. Fingers crossed.3 points

I recovered a sunken QAR off ebay. Probably paid too much ($120), esp since I already have one, but it was x5 points and I was itching for a new project. I have a pretty good stash of ship parts from bulk deals so hopefully it comes together with minimal bricklinking. I enjoy doing sets like this much more than out of a sealed box anyways.2 points

9493 X-wing for $230 !!!! ($190 after fees and shipping) and a Uruk Hai army for $85, both on Amazon.ca. Figure I kept $250 and paid $100 for both originally.2 points

I don't know how anyone is making money on this set selling for $110? (some even lower) with free shipping. That is just plan wasting time and effort.2 points

One thing to keep in mind in that regard is that TLG has had no new movie-based content to work with over the past 10 years, but is getting ready to have a constant stream of such content to work with each year for the forseeable future. While the new movies will primarily feed the smaller sets, there is sure to be some iconic vehicles/locations that will feed the UCS end of the line that will inevitably limit the number of UCS remakes.2 points

Thank you for your understanding in the matter! Of course, we do want to take responsibility for the products that we sell, regardless of who is at fault. If you change your mind, just message Linda in our eBay contact center and she will take care of a return or exchange for you.2 points

The piece count could work. The set could be highly detailed and finished on all four sides, unlike the Modulars. It could also have a super detailed interior. I would love to see it, but I have to wonder if there are not better models to invest 4600 pieces into.2 points

Well. Wish I had won one. Because if it's selling for that kind of stupid money, I would have gladly flipped it to get me a 10179.2 points

If it doesn't update within an hour then it means one of the two on the listing has more control than I do since I am new. You will have to try a different approach, I do have both titles in the search terms field though.1 point
