I finally found a little bit of time this afternoon to expand Tony Stark's mansion for my son. He's happy now, but still wants more displays for his suits. It's still a work in progress, since I need some more large white slopes to fill out the front. I built it up a little bit to give it more of a mountain-side feel. It's real solid now with the heavier base.5 points

Dont look into it. Take a break and have fun while you're down there. Your kids will only be that age once! The stunt show at universal was very cool. Btw2 points

More sets...More chances of errors and issues. I am still impressed with the overall quality of the sets considering the enormous quantities made. I think box quality is improving and minifigures are way better than years ago. I think this hobby is filled with overly smart...and anal...people, who nitpick things to death. What bothers me more is the lack of creativity by re-releasing sets like the Winter Toy Shop.2 points

So... the 42039 AROCS. After the 42009, Ultimate 42009 and the 42030 Crawler Crane, it was not as challenging (even aligning all the bloody hoses wasn't that bad). I wouldn't say it was anticlimactic, per se, but didn't feel as special as I hoped. Granted, the suspension is ingenious and I love the way it looks like the real thing. But the older UNIMOG feels somehow more special to me. I really like the Mog's functions (and it is a UNIMOG - built out of Lego, for heaven's sake). I have been spoilt by Jurgen's Ultimate 42009. Verdict? Lovely set. Clever, nicely designed, easier to control than the UNIMOG (although having controls split across both sides means I would forget what does what). The locking mechanism for the tipper bed's flap is ingeniously simple. But the Mog is an adorable UNIMOG WITH PORTAL AXLES A WINCH AND AN ARM! All of that seems a bit contradictory... that's fine. Still is a worthy flagship.2 points

Didn't see a main thread for chapters. They seem to have revamped their plum rewards program, on sept 10th you get 10x the plum points limited to one transaction per plum member. Couldn't find any exclusions for Lego. So instead of getting 5 points per $1 spent, you will get 50. I plan on getting 60 S14 CMF which should give 11,850 points which is $25 in points which comes out to around 10% off. Anybody else take advantage of plum points?1 point

Sopwith Camel 10226 I've been putting off this post for a week as I tried to digest this build. It's not that I didn't like it, I just wanted to like it more. Don't get me wrong, I love the subject, there were some neat elements, the thing is impressive on display, and both I and my niece had fun with the build...I just wanted to like it MORE. I picked this one up for around $60 and for that price, I'm glad for the experience...also glad I didn't open one of my sealed ones. For the right person this is an amazing model and well worth the cost though due to its size, it takes a commitment to display. Oh well, spent the last 30 minutes breaking it down to move on down the road. Hopefully the next person who gets it likes it a little more than me.1 point

Yeah that's an amazing reduction on a great set! Hopefully we'll see something like that again so i can get one of these (and a second at that price!).1 point

In my opinion it´s a bit too soon to buy in for long term investment and certainly not at more than 30% off - before Xmas there will be better deals and this set should be around for at least two years, if not more. Even a quick flip at Xmas is not likely to be worth more than 170 and then after commissions you are back to where you started.....1 point

I think that compared to Toyota they are doing pretty well on recalls - for me what would be worrying is if sets start to have missing parts. That´s a huge PIA for resellling, especially if the set doesn´t get opened till 5 years down the line. Try explaining that one to CS1 point

That's the disadvantage compared to the U.S. ... I'm always disappointed not only in the price difference (which sometimes is as big as 10-20$ to € which can add up to about 100+$ for a whole wave of sets) but also in the difference when it comes to cupons and special offers. But I guess we gotta live with it and take what we get and give nothing back! ;-) (I mean sometimes we got nice offers as well! Just not as frequently). The AT-AT is a great buy either way! It's an awesome set and well worth the 100€1 point

Early results are showing the Tiger Lady is by far the most popular (and expensive) figure here in Australia, it's currently selling for 3x RRP. With only 3 per case I think this is the one to target.1 point

2x 40153 : Birthday Cake each 7,99 euro 2 x 10245 : Santa's Workshop each 45 euro could get the 10246: Detective's Office for 111 euro, but i think Santa's Workshop is better for the christmas season.1 point

You're thinking Target has a dedicated Lego person like TRU. It doesn't. I bet they would categorize this just one step above seasonal -- like add-on item products for amazon. This is going to be relatively deep production IMHO so the Quick Flippers will suffer--but will have good long term legs as Halloween occurs every year and Lego won't revisit a heavy minifigure line like this again.1 point

Stores that still have Simpsons won't "reorder" the same product. Since they all have the same item number, they see stock in the store and won't order more until that stock is moving.1 point

Just been into my local Debenhams and saw some series 1 mixels just sitting there (about half a case)!! Needless to say I took them straight to the till and out of curiosity asked if they had any more. They popped out the back and came out with a nearly full case! So Ive just got 3 complete sets of 9, 3 complete sets of red and four odd for £111 . They also let me take the display case. How many sets of mixels come in a display case, any one know? Just to sweeten the deal they also had a near fresh case of series 13 MF so I did a quick smoosh and got all 3 hotdog guys (up to 14 of these now) Also bought star wars Advent calender these seem to be hard to find at retail at the moment.1 point

Good luck! I'm not sure what TRU is doing to wipe those cards like that without any notification? They didn't seem to care one bit.1 point
-
No, because Raise did deliver the gc and they were good, until after the guarantee period. It's a theft of goods case, easy to win, but a pain in the rear.1 point
-
Could you dispute the charge on your credit card and let the CC company deal with them?1 point
-
I had a bad experience with gc from TRU. A while back, I misplaced around $3k in gc and since it was already past the guarantee period from Raise, I was left to deal with with TRU. They also "erased the balances and then followed up that they couldn't do anything, since they weren't purchased directly from them.". Needless to say, I will be seeing them in court.1 point
