  1. Just been into my local Debenhams and saw some series 1 mixels just sitting there (about half a case)!! Needless to say I took them straight to the till and out of curiosity asked if they had any more. They popped out the back and came out with a nearly full case! So Ive just got 3 complete sets of 9, 3 complete sets of red and four odd for £111 . They also let me take the display case. How many sets of mixels come in a display case, any one know? Just to sweeten the deal they also had a near fresh case of series 13 MF so I did a quick smoosh and got all 3 hotdog guys (up to 14 of these now) Also bought star wars Advent calender these seem to be hard to find at retail at the moment.

  2. I finished a 75054 AT-AT yesterday. I've wanted an AT-AT since I was a kid ogling the Sears Christmas catalog. I watched other Lego iterations come and go, but this fulfilled a life-long quest for me. Now it's going to accompany me to my office, sit on a filing cabinet, and get hijacked by pirate zombies.

  3. I've never had it happen. My guess is that the people willing to pay $20 for a minifig are not the same people that smoosh packages in stores.

  4. One Scooby Doo Mansion One Scooby Doo Lighthouse One Scooby Doo Plane One ToT One tan baseplate all for the Halloween display (along with Haunted House and Vampyre Castle). Will also add one full set of the Series 14 minifigs. Thought about using Ewok Village trees for a spooky forest, but couldn't risk breaking up the EV and losing pieces.

  9. Well the race to the bottom has begun.. Personally, I had a string of luck hit me, and I knew this had a limited opportunity to make some cash on these. And that ship is now sailing off into the sunset, unless you just want to make 5.00 to10.00 on a complete set, which to me is not worth it. Interestingly, those that flipped over the last few weeks (myself included here) made anywhere between 30 to 45.00 (or more) profit, from rrp by selling above 120. I managed to blow out 4 sets above that price point, and 2 below that price point. To put that into perspective, very few mini figure lines hit that number a few years after retirement! Simpsons series 1 still hasn't reached that number. The lego movie just began to hit that point, and that's been retired for over a year now. In all, I managed to sell 6 sets over the last two weeks. I have four remaining, and a few of the 3 per case figs, and now I think i'm just going to store them for next halloween, unless these become pretty scarce in the next few weeks. At this point, these extra sets are just pure gravy, and more or less play money, because the flips paid for them outright. But, i'm done with these and won't be buying anymore .. I thought about 2 more cases, but I think there is going to be a lot of these on the market in the next few weeks, and so margins will get really thin to the point where it's not worth it. I will say this about minifigures, you have to be selective. If you go in buying 60, and you score 10 figures that are just 5 or 4 per case, you thin your margins big time. At that point, it's really not worth it to have 2 complete sets, but 6 zombie pirates, and 7 crazy scientists with a scattering of 4 per case figures on hand. It's better to have 7 tiger girls, 9 banshees, and have the allotted 5 per cases stuck in complete sets. Your margins will be thin if you don't do it that way. You have to factor those 5 per case figures into your overall sales and so what you have in your inventory is key!.. So smooshing is an artform that needs to be honed in because it can save you time and money. The quicker and faster you are at it the better. I know a lot frown on it, but ohh well - it's a game.

  11. People say this about every exclusive: 1. A member indicates that [Exclusive] is so hoarded that everyone must have them and won't appreciate. 2. [Exclusive] retires, 3. [Exclusives jumps in value, 4. Emazers indicates that everyone should have 40 of these OR another member indicates that you had years to get this set before it shot up in value. Ed and others have repeatedly mentioned that many, if not most, of the BP members are not hard core investors. This set will go up when it retires and a prime example of an exclusive that "everyone" had lots of is the 10211 GE. It hasn't performed spectacularly but you can still make $100 profit on the set and that's still a good return for a "safe" investment. It seems that exclusives are increasingly the safer plays because they will go up, but at a lower rate then some potentially riskier plays.

  12. Birds - ExoSuit II - the sequel. The only people buying this set are QFLL wanabe - i sawer it in a documentary. No actual LEGO users are excited by Birds. Unless there is a second Birds release, this set reeks of dudness. Ecto will be one of those winners that was staring you in the face for so long you'll be questioning what was wrong with your mental faculties that you didn't buy more of these while it was available at target with a 5% red card discount. The LEGO investing sequel to BTTF. The reason to buy Birds is you're contrarian and you think BIRDS is uber-unhoarded. Which its not because of the documentary. So investing in Birds you have a bunch of newbs who will be disappointed when it doesn't go up as fast as they wanted because the intrinsic demand stinks and then they start dumping at a low price post EOL which keeps the growth curve down. Recipe for disappointment. Ecto might not be as hoarded as some would believe - its never been discounted in north america. I've only seen in on shelves in the lego store and at 2 TRU so not a lot of shelf exposure. Ghostbusters is being shown on a TV channel somewhere in the world right now. Birds? not so much. Even if ecto is hoarded, demand is only going to increase with the franchise reboot (even with the new actors nostalgia for the old slime will be there). I'm up to 30 Ecto and would like to be at 50 by December. I think it will be difficult to find in December-January and gone by Feb.

  17. Minifigures plus is as legit as they come. I got a mr gold in the series 10 case I ordered from them. So all questions of tampering or not being honest or whatever were thrown out the window on that one. Minifigures plus is a great seller.

  18. On a positive note, I have ordered multiple cases from Minifigures Plus and have always received a quality product. I ordered 10 Series 10 Mr. Gold CMFs and they were all in excellent condition and sealed. I am not saying every order (out of thousands) is perfect, but they have an excellent track record with Jeff and I.

  23. Didn't buy it today, but finally received it today. http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=23631585 After inventorying, missing one hose, a crossbow, Han, Luke and Chewbacca. also, some of the stickers came off the sheet, so I need to source 4 parts with stickers, or just get a new sticker sheet. Not terrible for a 7965.

  27. Lowest on ebay at the moment is 200USD. The horde has missed this. I don't think it was that easy to stock up +10 of these sets. Punch in multiple orders of 2 on SAH and the ban hammer will be dropped. Most of the hoarders had to either get them in store, maybe target online, or ordering 2 each time there was double VIP to be able to get their inventory up. I built one of these and it displays beautifully. This should give some hefty returns in the long run.

  29. We are sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with our store. On very rare occasions we do run out of stock on an item, and then we do our best to order more in as quickly as possible. Fortunately eBay has changed its system so that we can now suspend a listing from being available when we run out of stock. In the past, however, in order to maintain the listing and all transactions associated with it, company policy was to raise the price to the value it would be sold at for the next shipment we received and to edit the listing with red letters at the top of the description stating when they would next be in stock. We understand that it is frustrating for an order to be canceled when you have already purchased it, and that may feel like a violation of contract, but it is actually not a violation of eBay policies to cancel an order. In fact, it would be a violation of policy for us to leave an order open (keeping the buyers money) and not ship it out for weeks until the shipment arrives. Canceling an order is the safest option for the buyer as well. After 30 days, PayPal no longer allows a buyer to open a case to get their money back. That being said, if it looks like it will take longer than 30 days for the next shipment to come in, we would be sure to cancel the order to protect the buyer and ensure that we did not violate policy. I understand that in your case, the shipment was sent out three weeks later. That is still a safe amount of time, but of course, we can never know exactly how long it will take to find more stock and order it in. That is why representatives are trained to ask the buyer if they would consent to canceling the order. I am glad to hear that you were willing to leave the order open for a few weeks so that we could still send you the product at the previous price and maintain the agreed upon price. My sincerest apologies for the delay in shipment. We do our very best to make sure we never run out of stock, but it does happen sometimes. Again, I am happy to report that this will not be the case anymore with eBay's new listing "out of stock" options. Kind regards, Jon

  30. Well, to be fair, sometimes LEGO has taken a nice looking vehicle from the film and given us this http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?S=7151-1&name=Sith%20Infiltrator&category=%5BStar%20Wars%5D%5BStar%20Wars%20Episode%201%5D#T=S&O={"ii":1}

  35. Yeah, I saw the cockpit canopy right off, the Leia and Obi-Wan confirmed it in my mind, along with the gray helmet and all of the wedges. I assumed that a large portion of the set would be there, but I expected a bit more would be missing.

  41. DPCI # on the receipt is 099090999, which is not a valid one. I gave the toys dept. guy the DPCI for previous minifigures (204-00-1379) and thats how he found the 60 in the stock room that turned out to be a sealed box of Series 14. So it appears it will be the same DPCI as before.

  42. I'm with your sentiment on this idea. I would love the huge $400 epic ideas set. The Dutchman would've been a great choice IMO. What frustrates me about these ideas sets, are that people vote on sets that are just wayyy too impractical for Lego to make. Another modular? Immediate rejection. Huge 10,000+ monstrosity? Immediate rejection. Odd licensed themes already in use/would cost too much to get? Most likely rejection. I think on the next review, we might actually get a better set. The Douglas plane, the titanic, I see with possible potential. But it would have to do the set justice. I'm talking around a $200 set. I don't know, I think I'm just being jaded with the way Lego chooses the submissions. Plus it's just not fun to wade through 95%+ of submissions that IMO are just junk or 100 different rehashes of the same stuff that's already on there.
