  3. I really have to ask. How is this Lego fault? they made a perfect reproduction of the Falcon in the new movie. This is JJ's decision to reuse the Falcon not Lego. This is like when people blamed Lego for making a toy that looks like a religious site. When all they did was copy Jabba's palace from a movie made in 1983.

  6. When I first saw the leaked images of this set, it was a "you've got to be kidding me" moment. Then I saw the official images and I thought "these just might have some potential". Seeing these in person and being able to hold them in hand has won me over. I have no problem placing a small bet on a seasonal theme like Halloween. I figure I'll be wishing I had bought more, not less.

  7. To all of our Brickpicker customers, I hope that I can answer any and all questions and put any concerns to rest here. I will include photos of strip-style boxing for a different series at the bottom of this message. 1. In our many years of experience, strip-style boxes always receive the exact same 60 minifigures that a display box receives. 2. For those who are concerned that the box will have a different resale value, that simply has not been true in our experience either. A buyer's primary concern is that the box is factory sealed and contents are guaranteed. With this packaging, both of these concerns are still put to rest. This series has still received the highest demand of any series we have had yet, and we are still keeping our prices raised as we did because we know this packaging will not stall demand. 3. If anyone would like display packaging, we will be ordering that once we sell out of this shipment. However, we purchased enough to last until Halloween, so display boxes will not be sold in our store until Christmas time. I also want to note that our pre-order price will almost certainly not be offered again on this series. I hope to convey my sincerest apologies for this inconvenience. I know that consistency with the agreement is one of the important elements in a pre-order. However, I hope that I can also answer any questions and concerns here. We could have made the choice to reject the supply and send it back for the correct packaging, but because we know that timeliness is the most important factor in the pre-order, and the value would remain unchanged, the decision was made to accept the goods in the packaging our suppliers were given. Once again, all contents remain the same. The shipment date estimate remains unchanged. The value is unchanged. And most importantly, this is still the best series to invest in yet. Please DM or comment and I will do my best to answer any and all questions as soon as possible. Kind regards, Jon

  8. Built Vader last night after a long SW flipping day. Nice build, lots of big molded / angled parts making the cost seem worth it. Vaders head is prebagged and its a large nice quality cape. Lots of poses and movements with the ball joints. Not your typical LEGO build at all but still pretty cool. Might do Grievous out of the line as well.

  10. Hello all, I wanted to say high to everyone. Most people probably don't know me as I was one of the newer(ish) members to join about 2 plus years ago. Anyways, I still buy and sell Lego even though my current avenue of work has been WWII mocs for World War Brick which was held in Minneapolis. (Went to that one for my third straight year.) They also hosted WWB out of state in Anaheim, CA and Hartford, CT in 2015 as well. If want to check out some of my builds, please check out my Flickr account which is vikings_football28. (Link.) On a side note, we are doing a Lego Cologne On The Rhine Collab next year for WWB 2016. This collab depicts the famous Pershing vs. Panther duel in downtown Cologne, Germany on March 6th, 1945. The size is currently planned to be 96 studs wide and 144 studs long. We are looking for three more contributors to construct ruined buildings or send parts needed to construct the buildings. (The parts should be tan or dark grey in color. The pieces will be shipped back after the convention.) We have a Flickr group that will have the exact specs of each persons' building and other important planning information.) Thanks, Darth

  11. I would like to thank Jon from Minifigures Plus for responding with images of what we should expect. I for one will keep my order as it was. I might even buy more. Having a sealed box of these sets mean very little difference (if any) if the sets will arrive in a LEGO shipping box as shown above. This is not the Mr. Gold Series 10 CMF sealed box which could mean something. These figures will be worth more broken down anyway, so there is no real reason not to buy it. I also get the feeling these might be hard to come by very soon, so cancelling the order is risky IMO.

  12. Got a close look at the new snow speeder, troop transport and rens ship. IMO they're bland, no character, just a pile of grey bricks. The minifigs are a plus.

  13. 76019 Starblaster Showdown. Now if I am honest, I primarily wanted the set for the parts (the dark blue cockpit is only available here plus the dark blue long hinge plates & curved slopes also extremely limited) and guns. However I was curious how the Starblaster spaceship would look in real life and its looks pretty darn good. I actually built the set backwards beginning with bag #2 containing Star Lord, the Sakaaran and his (?) pint-sized craft which turned out to be decent considering the size and low count of pieces. The wings can swivel about but unfortunately I do not recall what way they properly went in the film. Star Lord is one kickass figure. His signature helmet is very well done (fits perfectly without making his head seem large) and exclusive to the set attire printing is sweet with potential in cyberpunk MOCs I think. The Sakaaran soldier is amazing in detail and clever of LEGO making the two faces completely different which will add some variety should one acquire a sizable platoon of these. It is definitely going on my personal list of favorite minifigures and I really want to find something grand to put him in. Now onto the actual main centerpiece of the Starblaster and its Nova Corps Officer pilot in bag #1. Wow, this sucker looks ready for the sky between the nice choices of color and that superbly stylish profile. The cockpit itself is rather roomy and considerably barren with only a 1x2 slope on the floor as the monitor so detail inside is low but it does make pulling the pilot in & out easy. There are a couple standard flick missiles arming the bottom of the craft in this case though they do add some detail to an otherwise flat surface. Major highlight would be the engine area making excellent usage of all those hinged parts. Spread them wide like a flower for that energy net maneuver or whatever it was called in that one scene or close them up tight for super sleek soaring. Point short, this spaceship looks great from every angle. Oh right, the Nova Corps Officer has great printing to go with the special headgear. It seems a shame that helmet may not see usage in the future. It might with a different color pattern I suppose but is particularly specific to the character similar to the X-Wing and its pilot's helmet. Overall this was a nice set to build in a jiffy with a fair amount to offer. My only possible critique is I think LEGO did themselves a disservice by having you build the Starblaster then the Sakaaran and his ship because anything after the main course (Starblaster) would feel weak regardless. On that note I am glad I did things the way I had. While only the Starblaster is sizable of a craft easily dwarfing the Sakaaran's, both are fun to swoosh like crazy. Yeah that's right. I swooshed them like a little kid; even chased one of the cats for a bit. Ha. Anyway considering the parts such as getting two different canopy types in a cheap set and as I mentioned beforehand rare select dark blue parts to boot, cool characters (great for army building or creating custom figures), and one great spacecraft with a bonus 'dingy' (ha), I'm lovin' it.

  14. I built the new episode VII TIE fighter last night/early this morning and I gotta say, I really like this set. I don't have any of the previous TIEs to compare it with but it was a fun build, it's solid, and l really like the look of it--the red on black really pops. The price per piece on this set is out of whack, as many have pointed out, but it was the one that really jumped out at me when I saw the new sets and to me, the hoses on the pilot helmets and the translucent/printed fuselage pieces are worth the extra coin. That said, if you're more patient than I am I'm sure you'll be able to pick it up on sale at some point.

  16. Translation: you are gambling. We all are. You can have good hunches and well (or not so well) educated guesses, but at the end of the day, we are essentially gambling. Just like purchasing stocks. If you invest quietly and carefully over time you can do well, if you take the "mutual funds". Trains. Ships. The stuff that everybody knows you can hold for a couple years and cash in on. Ok, sometimes that plan even bites you (see winter village toy store). But when it comes to CMF's or Mixels, you're essentially betting on penny stocks. Hold them you long and the sleazy folks who slice open bags at my local walmart will undersell you and walk away laughing. Sorry. I should go to bed, I'm low on sleep anyhow, I guess I'm just trying to say that this is a volatile market, so you just have to be aware that the only certain thing seems to be that everything constantly changes. Sometimes we take one on the chin, and sometimes we knock it out of the park...

  20. Built the new Millennium Falcon today. The previous version of the ship 7965 was the set that brought me out of my dark ages and I LOVE that set. Although I thoroughly enjoyed building this newer version it is so close to the previous version that it left me wanting more from the set in building technique variation or a more detailed interior to really set it apart from its predecessor. However, the figure selection is excellent and I do like the newly designed front areas of the ship. I also had a great time at the midnight TRU when I purchased the ship and this will make a great souvenir for that evening. I am looking forward to building Kylo Ren's shuttle later this week which will hopefully feel more "new" as a set.

  22. I love love love the Simpsons. I watch new episodes when they are being broadcase - last season. That being said,I'm totally unsure of how these will be as an investment. So far demand has just not been there. Guessing that Simpsons house is underhoarded, so that part of the equation may be in the investors favor but its just not at all clear to me how much demand there is. compare that to Star Wars where there is just an amazing energy and interest. Hard to justify putting a lot of equity towards a theme like Simpsons when you have other options like modulars, star wars UCS, Tumbler, Ferris wheel, ideas (ecto wall) even considering the increased competition. the growth of new fans in Star Wars will be several orders of magnitude higher than Simpsons' fan growth. obviously you can see my bias here towards Star Wars... Not a bad idea to have a few of the Simpson's sets - I think each new set that comes out will bump the value of previous ones, but I think going deep on this theme is much much less a sure thing than other options.

  26. that's an interesting question. On one hand you could could consider the recent issues LEGO has had with churning out adequate production and the popularity of this series as a case for keeping your box sealed for a rainy day. On the other hand, maybe all the scarcity is really due to resellers hoarding and/or LEGO will go all Exosuit on series 14 in response to the initial demand, and a year from now these won't be worth much of anything. If this were true, maybe selling them while they're hot and covering the cost of your personal set of 16 is the smart move.

  27. There is no modern bone morphology that exhibits the exact characteristics of Wolfman's bone, however, it bears resemblance to a modern humanoid "long" bone, specifically, the humerus. Artistic license has exaggerated the definition between the head and greater tubercle on the proximal end but is more to scale between the medial and lateral epichondyles distally. So, I'm saying it's a human arm.....or from a unicorn. One or the other

  28. Unfortunately I don't have 7965 built at the moment. I can tell you the builds are nearly identical in concept and a review video I watched stated the base of the ships are the same in plate placement. The biggest noticeable difference to me (other than the color scheme) is that the top of the new Millennium Falcon is much flatter overall and the area where the two front sections connect to the ship look better. If I do end up rebuilding 7965 over the weekend I will certainly take some photos!!

  35. You're allowed. I only look at HH and R2D2 as examples of "nothing is guaranteed" with Lego. For all we know, the last DS might have rolled off the production line yesterday. Or maybe they're refitting the line for another run. A lot of people expected BBT to sell out. It didn't. The unknown is more exciting than the known sometimes. It's why people gamble... and invest.

  37. With the Star Wars craze about to start and this set being in the top 25 top sellers on SAH, I can't imagine LEGO retiring this set until at least next year. They may not keep be able to keep up with demand now with buyers and resellers until after the holiday. The number of resellers and their volume continues to grow...concerns me. I hope the demand is high for this item during the holiday to the point resellers are raising prices and not undercutting the prices... will be looking to sell some of these and regain some space.

The Death Star will rise fast when it retires in a few months or so, just look of all the crap I heard when I kept saying get SSD,HH, etc. Now with 46 SSD and 62 HH and I do have 56 DS most thought I was crazy.
