  1. The Brickpicker Trade forum has been re-opened. One of the things we were waiting for was the feedback app to become available again. I was able to install it a few days ago. This forum is for trades only. Any type of selling needs to be done on Brick Classifieds. All new trade listings will need to be approved. A trade is basically a post that says "I have a Ecto-1 and looking for a Research Institute" (generally something like that). You have something and want something in return. I highly recommend posting photos of the item you have to trade to show people what it is that you have. It promotes safe trading and helps to answer questions about what you are offering. Once trades are completed, you can use the feedback system. The feedback form is quite simple: Just search for the user that you completed the trade transaction with. Select whether you were the buyer or seller. Select Positive / Negative / Neutral Leave a comment Paste the url of the trade forum topic As you build a feedback history, you will start to see the feedback in your profile area Before anyone asks, I am sorry to report that feedback from the previous forum is indeed gone. Too many differences between version 3.x and 4.x. These topics will not show up in the "recent posts" widget on the homepage, but once it gets going, I hope to add a different recent trades widget to that sidebar. I hope you find use for this section again, sorry for the delay, I was just waiting on some sort of a proper feedback system before making it available.

  2. The LOTR sets are definitely winners. I got to admit, LOTR was one of those lines that really made me giddy for legos… And i'm glad I spent a lot of time grabbing sets when I could. Now that everything is retiring, things are starting to look very promising. Helms Deep is starting to go over 200 and I bet it goes into the 250 mark next year. Of course, i'm going to admit, I screwed the pooch on this one, as bought at RRP.I managed to score a couple Pirate Ship Ambushs at 49.00 at walmarts this year, and then some at 70.00. It's already around 120 on amazon. Granted, some of the boxes were a little beat, but still. That sets already looking promising. The Council of Elrond still can be found but it's already showing promising signs of rising into the 2x to 3x mark. I picked a bunch of these up at walmarts for 21.00 in february/march of this year.I picked up 6 Wizard battles for 5.00 at kmart on clearance. And have 10 of these total in my arsenal. Only time I ever had a big score at a kmart. Already those hover around the 20 mark, and bet these go to the 40 mark soon enough… This set reminds me of a couple of the lower end Indy sets. To me this set is already a winner!I found Shelob Attacks for 9.00.. Already over 65 on amazon. The Unexpected Gatherings could be found (I found 2) at 54 in walmarts on clearance. Already around or nearing 120. Orc Forge and Uruk Hai Armies are already doing some good. Although, a lot of people horded the orc forge. But, over time, these sets will be over 100.I kick myself everyday for not clearing out a walmart when Gandalf Arrives were on clearance. Already this set is at 35. You could have landed this in the 8.00 range at one point. I only bought one of these for my kid. This set is what I call a big time score. Gandalf and Frodo is in every set "I said"..The only sets I never found at discount was the Black Gate. They just recently sold out at TRU and so now it's starting to rise.I'm sitting on 4 Tower of Orthancs, and I expect good things for this set. In fact, i've moved all of these into the long term investment for my kids college fund. That's what i'm thinking with this one, to be honest.I also think the Lonely Mountain and Dul Guldor Battles will do good things… Invest now, if you want to see the above happen while these are still around… because they will go very soon too.

  5. Sold a Hobbit Unexpected Gathering 79003, and a Barrel Escape 79004 for $212 CAD shipped. Not a bad return, was $55 in for the gathering and $30 for the escape. Shipping was $27, so a profit of $100. I'm pretty happy :)

  6. My mind is fried to give a thorough review but it has a BIG footprint. The sand green and light blue buildings are awesome almost like building a modular. The "basement" of the tower is very different as it is the mechanics for the shadow theater which is in the back so not visible in the pic. The tower is a fast, simple but fun build. It looks pretty cool once you put it all together.

  13. Not even near "peak buying" season, and these are already over 100 for a complete set on amazon. They have risen quite a bit over the last month. Started around 70, then up to 80, then mid 90s, now it's at 108.. Starting to look good for those sitting on complete sets. Series 1 should be 3x in no time. Not as sold on series 2 since it has so many prequel sets, but we shall see.

  14. LEGO Shop at Home isn't exactly known for running a tight ship.

  15. I think Unexpected Gathering is already a winner. I guess it just depends on the buy-in.

  18. i'm guessing that this set might be one of the least hoarded exclusives. I have one I built but no others. Those who hoarded - I hope you win big

  19. Never seen a large exclusive thread so quiet after it goes sold out on LEGO Shop at Home. Low interest in this beast. Hope it's a sleeper. This is one set I don't expect to see any 'check back in six months' or 'we are making more' nonsense. Still in stock at amz and wm.

  20. There are some real gems there. Is you plan to sell for profit? Keep for collection? A bit of both? Martin is spot on for investment purposes (as always), but if you want these for your own collection you may consider going a bit higher on them.

  28. I have the same impression. The new monster figures will have a very positive effect on the Monster Fighter Theme. I even pulled back some ads with MF sets and will wait and see what happens.

  31. This set has winner written all over it. I stopped at 12 as the rest of the limeup, including bag end and helms deep, has been disappointing. Look like I made a mistake. Time will tell.

  34. It was good times. Even waiting in line, chummed it up with a guy from brickset forums and talked jurassic world and millenium falcon. Was also worth watching 2 adult couples maneuvering thru store in the most obvious way, along with tons of looks, nods, and whispering while trying to get more of the lego store openings than allowed. All that was missing to make it any more obvious would have been some camo face paint, walkie talkies and a t shirt with reseller printed on it. If they are reading this, next time remember to calm down and smile and act like you are in a toy store. Its supposed to be fun isnt it:)

  36. For anyone that still have the 7965 I would hold them, I still have 15 and I am holding on to them, does anybody really think the value of these will really fall to retail price of $140 from a yr or so ago. Its anybody's guess on what these might be selling for this Christmas and beyond but I would say it looks good for staying in the $250 and up range.

  37. Congrats to the brothers yet again! This article makes it seem so easy. There is no talk about selling fees, storage, the process of selling, packing or themes that don't appreciate well, etc. According to the article there is no downside to Lego investing, except maybe that it is a fad, which I don't think is true based on the last fifty years. You don't have to store stocks in your attic or pack them in boxes when you want to sell them. I want to make it clear that I am NOT saying Ed is responsible in anyway for this one sided approach. There is money to be made, but it is not as easy as they make it sound.

  38. I saw 4 Simpson's House at Walmart tonight along with 4 Ewok Village. All were full price. Either someone bought them and had them shipped to store and then didn't buy them or Lego is trying something new.

  44. The following are all retired sets from at least 2014 (or earlier) and I would like to know which of these are disappointments? 21000 - Sears Tower - 27% 21001 - John Hancock - 28% 21004 - Guggenheim - 17% 21007 - Rockefeller - 15% 21008 - Burj Khalifa - 26% 21010 - Robie House - 15% 21016 - Sungnyemun - 60% (I don't believe the spike) For more recently retired sets, I think that Farnsworth and Villa Savoie will struggle, Sydney Opera House and Brandenburg Gate will perform ok, and Empire State building and Fallingwater will perform well.
