Thanks, Alpine. I really do have limited room to store sets and unfortunately I only have my closet to work with. I'm planning on buying another Pet Shop and maybe a Palace Cinema and then I may use the money for some other things that I need. Plus, I gave the wifey some money as well. It's the first time I've been able to do that and I wanted to show her that this Lego investing wasn't a waste of time.5 points

So I just made my first "pure" investment purchase it's 17-20 lbs. Of bulk for $143.50 shipped on eBay And from what I've seen I see the latest Harry Potter castle, hogwarts express, knight bus, Hagrids hut, freeing Dolby, possibly the smaller hogwarts castle add on, dumbledoors office, Loki's helicarrier breakout, that giant rare baseplate, possibly some clear bricks ( I don't know if they're real or fake) and whatever other mysteries lie in there . I saw a lot of minifigures and minifigure parts so I'm sure it's a winner, I can't wait to see how much money I make once everything is said and done5 points

What happened to the price of this set in the US when the new version was announced? That was before pictures of the actual set were released which confirm it to be near identical.... When the new one comes out and gets down to 100USD on discount, most people are going to be looking very hard at those satellite dishes to justify paying 2.5 times more! Of course, hoarding 7965 till the new one retires as well or sells out at Xmas is another option but is it really going to ever be a 300/350 USD set? I´d rather be clearing the shelves of the new one before the Xmas rush.....3 points

Believe it or not: LEGO The Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase (79111) I even made some money! Very small money but honestly I'm happy that I sold it without losing money.3 points

I took a huge risk and bought a LOT of these at the end of last year thinking there was a good chance they would be gone in January 2015. Unfortunately it didn't happen so I've been holding them a while, but glad to see it is finally going up. Makes me feel a little better for all the room they take up!!!3 points

It was good times. Even waiting in line, chummed it up with a guy from brickset forums and talked jurassic world and millenium falcon. Was also worth watching 2 adult couples maneuvering thru store in the most obvious way, along with tons of looks, nods, and whispering while trying to get more of the lego store openings than allowed. All that was missing to make it any more obvious would have been some camo face paint, walkie talkies and a t shirt with reseller printed on it. If they are reading this, next time remember to calm down and smile and act like you are in a toy store. Its supposed to be fun isnt it:)2 points

I do. Most won't care. Disney has a huge fan base with about 95% crossover with Star Wars fans. It will only help sales to have their marketing behind it. I think most are happy Disney is adding movies, toys, other media and theme parks. All Star Wars investors should be pleased that the franchise is only growing in popularity. Disney was the ideal buyer for fans and I couldn't be happier. They are a great company. This is set should do fine as now they can make more Millenium Falcons without it being the exact same version. Prices certainly won't be going down.2 points

Got here at 930 and out the door with a temple of airjitzu and retail store by 1040. Super cool to get retail store and attend a grand opening. Got a pic with son in store so in 6 years when he is forced, i mean wants to apply to work there, maybe the pic will help grease the wheels to my personal goldmine....i mean a great part time job for him:)2 points

Sold my last 3368 Space Centre for 175 euro excl. shipping. Sorry to see the last one go. One of my biggest success sets in my short reseller career so far.2 points

The sweet spot to sell pricewise would appeart o have been April/May, the new one is basically a 2015 Model Year iteration and 8 out of 10 people would not know the difference - the box art is probably the biggest change along with the minifigs. Reminds me a bit of a certain toy shop set...... The new one is going to take the bulk of sales and only completists are going to be after the old one. The correction in prices already happened so now it is probably going to stagnate around the 200 mark or have very gentle increase.2 points

I think the time to dump was a few months ago right before/just after the episode 7 set list was leaked. At this point if I still had any I would probably hold long term to see how it compares to the new set and for the OT die hards in the future. Unless you need the money, of course.2 points

The Admins and Mods on Eurobricks should lock that thread for stupidity. They are basically promoting LEGO counterfeits. Dopes.2 points

Even better... we all should gather and sacrifice our stash of this set to Legod. We can burn them all together in a ritual. p.s. You can start without me... I will be a bit later1 point

For anyone that still have the 7965 I would hold them, I still have 15 and I am holding on to them, does anybody really think the value of these will really fall to retail price of $140 from a yr or so ago. Its anybody's guess on what these might be selling for this Christmas and beyond but I would say it looks good for staying in the $250 and up range.1 point

Congrats to the brothers yet again! This article makes it seem so easy. There is no talk about selling fees, storage, the process of selling, packing or themes that don't appreciate well, etc. According to the article there is no downside to Lego investing, except maybe that it is a fad, which I don't think is true based on the last fifty years. You don't have to store stocks in your attic or pack them in boxes when you want to sell them. I want to make it clear that I am NOT saying Ed is responsible in anyway for this one sided approach. There is money to be made, but it is not as easy as they make it sound.1 point

If the new MF is the prototype of all future MFs, then the current set,7965, would be the last of the OT MF set. Something to think about.1 point

By then, news about the next Falcon will begin - this has been a never ending cycle (since the 1st Falcon arrived). You just need to move them while prices are still in the sweet spot.1 point

Tony Abbot like Dorothy Mantooth is a Saint I think they are relying on the fact that the online vendors will apply the 10% component at POS. Further to my last, you will probably find that it will be offset against a new range of "postal concessions" that will be offered by the vendors in an effort to bring back our market -Amazon, etc LEGO Shop at Home already adds the GST component to the order anyway. Trust me, I know1 point

And all sets of the final Hobbit and LEGO Movie waves come to mind (I know they are still available in US but in EU they are retired already).1 point

If you buy this one you might want to pick up a few Metal Beards Dual as well to bundle with it, the MB that comes with it isn't near as good as the dual. Just food for thought!1 point

A few sets every year? I'm going to call you out here - can you name those sets? I can think of two - 9465 Zombies (available July to October 2012) and 60064 Arctic Supply Plane (available August to December 2014). I asked this question a couple months ago (probably in the JW thread), and I think we came up with one more. But that's not indicative of "every year a few sets will retire after only being available for a few months."1 point
