that was me. Thanks for the fast shipping and quality packaging. I finally decided to finish my Lone Ranger collection. I was too late in getting back in to Lego to buy these all at the nice clearance prices.8 points

I've seen this bit posted a few times about licenses on the license for individual sets within a licensed theme. I highly doubt there are license agreements for every set within a line. I would imagine that as long as TLG has the license to a produce sets for Star Wars, they have the ability to decide how long they are going to produce a particular set. Otherwise it would have gone something like, " Hey, George, it's Mark over at LEGO. Yea, about that UCS B-wing, it sucks. Do you mind if we pull the plug a little early on that one?"5 points

And that's the key. As long as you follow an strategy with the sets you like (say, I'll buy 5 TOO by the time it reaches 2 years on the shelves or whatever), retirement talk shouldn't matter too much. The idea is to have your target amount before the thing goes, and once you really believe it is about to be retired, make the decision to try and get more if you can. The difference is that once you reach your target goal, whether you get more or not shouldn't matter. Buying more would be a positive, but failing to would not be a disaster. As with any investment, you can make tactical deviations from these. If you believe RE will be very unique or whatever, then buy some and be comfortable with the risk. I'm not the first to say this by any stretch of the imagination, but it's good to bring it up every so often.5 points

So... I can never fly Lufthansa. If my kid got one of those, I'd have to make a deal with him... "Do you really want to open that?... I'll give you an Ezra's Speeder Bike when we get back from vacation, if you just give that to me now..."4 points

My wife's brother and his family have lived in Poland for the last 7 years. They are currently visiting and staying with us while they are here. Their flight was Lufthansa from Germany, which handed this poly out to the kids on board. Before I knew my niece had this, I've been building Lego with her, and gave her a 30188 Cute Kitten, and a 30285 Tiger to take home. She then surprised me with the Lufthansa bag as a gift. Lego is always the best universal gift to give.3 points

Actually no. Sometime it gets mixed into the regular stock and a worker unknowingly puts them out. I remember with other promos such as Elrond, Lego would send them in a separate shipment with specific instructions. Not the case I guess with regular polybags. Anything left over of course will eventually make it out onto the shelf. Nice set and packaging though, I like getting the licensed themes that contain a minifigure1 point

Decent day buying today....all items on great clearance prices! Couldn't pass on any of it -- did pass on all the FRIENDS series and elves stuff - don't know anything about - all 50% off. AT-AT, picked up 12. Some turtles, tons of Cantina's (18 total) and Batman joker steam roller sets (I think 28 total) and some other low end junk.1 point

I see you forgot to factor in the saturated fat in that snickers bar which is gonna raise cholesterol and expenses even more with doctor copay, prescriptions, and lesser quality of life. These lego shopping trips are just plain tearing you up financially and medically:)1 point

No i dont let an oil change factor into my decision to buy a lego set that has doubled in price. Or the snickers bar I ate on my trip. Do i deduct for taxes yes. My bank account says it is making me money, that is all I facfor in. But I only owned the set for 2 days so it cant be worth money unless i let it sit on my shelves for 3 years like all the other exclusives that never retire.1 point

I definitely agree with holding on to these. I know Amazon fees are better because I can ship a box of 20 of these to Amazon FBA for $8. That's .40 for shipping. That is the big difference between Amazon and eBay. I don't factor gas and all that because it is fun. It is definitely a gamble to sell now or wait it out but either way they will be worth it.1 point

Got 2 for 582 taxes in... Actually got to leverage that free prime membership! I wonder how many they got left...1 point

Lays night a cashier I've had once or twice before saw me and said "Ahh, it's lego day!", which I initially wrote off as being a comment about the 3 boxes I was buying. Then she said "have your rewards card? of course you do!"....hmmm...getting more familiar. Then as I was leaving, "see you next Thursday!" Seems as though she has me pegged1 point

My guess is that it is a question of production capacity. At the end of the day, TLG has a finite capacity to manufacture bricks and sets. Without looking at any numbers, it seems to me like TLG has been pumping out a lot more new sets and new themes over the past few years than it has in the past (e.g., the Classic line of sets, the four great vehicle City sets last year, etc.), and each of those sets and themes must lay claim to some percentage of that finite manufacturing capacity. Unless TLG has a lot of excess manufacturing capacity, the smartest play that they can make is to allocate the available capacity to the sets and themes that prove to be most profitable. Even though 10188 may be a good seller and may still be a profitable set, the ultimate question is whether it is sufficiently profitable when compared to other sets/themes to justify the manufacturing and distribution capacity that it requires to place the set into the hands of retailers. I would suspect that there are going to be a lot of retirements over the next 3-6 months simply because of the manufacturing capacity that TLG is going to be allocating to the new Star Wars sets.1 point

Last year I got a lot that had an emerald night, QAR, BP, shuttle expedition, 90% of a Grand Carousel, and 150 pounds of assorted bulk for $50. I find lots like that (minus GC) several times a year.1 point

Oh no worries, I realize it won't be easy to keep it. I'll be taking a 7+ month hiatus from selling anything this coming Christmas. I have a good number of ripened Star Wars sets I hope to sell this fall so even a 20% savings on fees will be worth it. This is the first time I've ever found a worthwhile stash of polys at my local TRUs so I'm just having a little fun too. I averaged it to $5 profit per, $240 = 48 polybags. I think I ended up with 51 but I'm keeping 2 for myself and I gave one away. It's not a ton of money for the effort but what the hell, it's more fun than my day job right now.1 point

I told my wallet to man up and grow a pair. We're getting all of these.1 point

When did these "figurines" become role models for girls? True story: I love that my daughter loves Legos: wholesome family entertainment, well-done and based on classic Disney stories. The "Friends" and Disney lines are brilliant. As a Father, I will gladly shell out the dollars for my kids to have Lego's wholesome, fun, and well-done Friends and Disney line. It will be a cold day in Hell before Mattel's new "dolls" are allowed in my home. Just look at the photo above to get my point: there is nothing there I hope my children aspire to.1 point
