Whatever does happen with getting a new DS which one is coming in 2016, This should not stop you from getting the 10188, Mark my word there will be chaos when this one is retiring which should be in 6 months or so, all its been out for 7 years and I didn't get any or maybe a few, like alot of guys on here say its a dud, to many people have them, etc. Just like some said it would take 3 years for the SSD to reach $700 and for other Exclusives to go up in price and missed a few good great money makers, Do you think I would have 56 of them if I thought it would not be a huge money maker, I have had 95% of all Exclusives and they all done great to huge money makers. So don't miss out on this set, It will be another set that you regret day after day like alot of you do for not loading up on the SSD,HH,TH,GE,AA, etc. Ed4 points

I don't want to get into a debate but in all fairness, you're asking for a cc discount but you're really not using the cc if you're charging a dollar or so...I know I'm in the minority on this site on my behavior about this but as I use my cc when asking for a cc discount & then going home & paying the cc. I use my discounted gc's to buy items on discount online...3 points

Cheapest on amazon is now 900.99. First time I have seen that, usually a few in the 800's. Cheapest fba is $979. Love it3 points

Hello All, I'm new to Brickpicker.com and i'm from the Netherlands. I enjoyed Lego very much when I was young and I hope my kids will enjoy it too. I'm into Classic Space from '70/80 for myself ..and for my kids any Lego will go:) Regards, Tionisla1 point

Just my $.02, With how well this Raptor Escape is selling I doubt it is done. However, I wonder if it stays OOS longer than normal at Shop at Home. Walmart is a big dog, and Lego will want to keep them happy with their exclusive. I would be guessing Walmart is where most stock will go to continuously (at least for a while). This leaves Shop at Home empty for a little longer than normal. I could be wrong, feel free to argue a counter point...1 point

Hmmm. Late Summer could be another 2 months. Maybe a good time to flip some between now and then if they remain unorderable *runs to Walmart*....1 point

I phoned Lego CS and they told me that they are expecting Raptor Escape back in, probably by late summer. Since the other sets effect all retailers, they are focusing on those first.1 point

I sold an Ocean Interceptor the other day for nearly 4 times what I paid for it two years ago. I was kinda surprised it sold since there's a very similar JW set available for far less than that. Looks like I'll have to get a couple of JW sets now as well. I was thinking of stocking up on T.Rexes but it looks like the Raptors are the way to go.1 point

Yes, it partially is about speculation. I was very pleased how the 2012 Dino sets performed. Desperate parents looking for Xmas gifts for little Johnny is like music in the ears of the fierceless reseller.1 point

I'm a fan of limited release sets, or vehicles or figures. It's what ultimately drives a collectors market. Hopefully it is a limited release set. It's not like there isn't another raptors set out there, or another set with an enclosure. Sounds like it's time to go sack some walmarts.1 point

not like retired, it brand new and no reason to retire it that quickly. likely just not order able while oos. we have seen this on a number of smaller sets lately. sold out does not always mean retired i guess. not sure why they dont use temporarily unavailable, like some other things have.... must work in the lego world too. just not so great for the investor world, though returns are still decent for many sets, so....1 point

Star Wars Rebels has done really well on my youtube channel. For that reason I've made a point to invest in everything Rebels immediately after it is released.1 point

I was looking for it too.... Until we see something officially leaked or set #s or something, this is still rumor territory to me. However, there appear to be enough rumors swirling from multiple sources to suggest something Death Star related is in the works. But calling it a "remake" right now is a bit premature.1 point

Quit talking about JW and Xmas. One theme will rule them all. Star Wars will kill the competition and in close second will be Santas workshop!1 point

this in no CUSSO that they will stop production in 2 months and just do one run. they will definitely want to milk it as much as possible1 point

Give it time, and you will not worry about the polite part of this question anymore. FWIW, when convenient I try to buy gift cards from Raise in amounts very close to (but not more than) what a large set I want is going to cost me after coupons and discounts - then I have an easy leg to stand on for paying very little with my credit card (<$10 usually) if challenged. Hasn't happened yet, though I'm surprised after some of last year's bricktober nightmares. This just cracked me up because it describes regular TRU to a T! Finally, I have been scooping up some of the last Pirate Ship Ambush (LotR) in my area after stocking a good number of Lonely Mountain lately. This set hasn't performed well so far, but is back up to $100 retail on eBay, and can be had for $60-75 depending how TRUTHful you want to get. I only got 1 cheap last year and would like a few more as I think it has BP / QAR (belated) potential.1 point

It works in the comics world. The amount by of Batman, Batman related, and Batman guest starring books published by DC every month is amazing.1 point

Well, the current radar is showing a top 5 investment set for 2015.... If that set is limited in release, it will be big money come christmas, as many adults try to scramble to get the sets to complete their kids jurassic world collection. This line is the hottest thing going at the moment. My sons birthday was this past weekend, and we searched locally for the Raptor Rampage set, and managed to find one at a legoland discovery. Practically all over the stores, except for perhaps TRU, most of the raptor and trex sets get sold rather quickly. Right now, the hottest sets from 2015 seem to be the ferris wheel, these jurassic world sets (minus the cheapest two sets), and the Imperial Shuttle Tydirium.1 point

I wouldn't be too worried. As all non-UCS SW sets, esp small ones, they have been churned out in the thousands and have been over-hoarded. I can't see them becoming scarce or rising above retail in value any time soon.1 point

based on what i read requirement were (if my memory serves me right. this was about 2 years ago. now must be even tighter): 1. have to have a b&m store 2. lego should not be more than 30% of what you carry. 3. one has to carry at least 8 product lines ( you can choose but at least 8. product line means, creator, friends, chima, starwar etc... meaning one is going to get stuck with duds ) 4. one won't get exclusives (hard to find, or Target or TRU or Walmart or anything else that's branded exclusive no exception .. someone wanted to get kingdom joust at the time and didn't get it ) 5. discount is 20% but one won't get free shipping rather discounted shipping. 6. there is 12 months wait period. i believe this has been discussed in detail in brickset.1 point

Very true. I live on the 4th floor in a very Chinese influenced town… they call it 3a because the word for 4 sounds like the word for death. The apartment sat empty for months before we moved in… I doubt they will be duplicating these monsters.1 point

and forget about exclusives (don't remember if all exclusives, or only super-exclusives like triple-E)1 point

Just refer back to my earlier post. I won't be picking up a 10179 but if I didn't have a 7965 I'd want it, just for the OT nostalgia. Like I said earlier this is *my* MF.1 point

Especially if you consider that MF and X-Wing are the police HQ-s of Star Wars. Their appearance can be expected just as much as the sun is coming up each morning...1 point

The 7695 is an OK set IMO...as with all of the non 10179 Falcons. I really wouldn't put too much effort into this set. Sell them and put the money elsewhere.1 point

One thing I've seen that may help the value of this set; is the amusement park sets possibly becoming a sub-theme for Lego. People are building their own lego amusement parks and including the Haunted House as an attraction, just as the ferris wheel or mixer would be.1 point

CSI: Lego Ban Team: Europe -Looks like we've cracked the case chief. We've cross referenced this user name in a highly complicated online algorithm called "Google". This Low Life Quick Flipper has been buying from us and getting end-user discounts and freebies then sells them at a markup to lazy consumers with more money then sense. Makes me sick. -I guess you've BUILT a great case. [crickets] ------YYYYYYYYEOOOWWWWWW1 point

Disclaimer: I am a collector first and foremost, who occasionally dabbles in resale to make ends meet. I buy sets at probably a 9:1 personal collection vs. investment collection ratio. I'm the droid you're looking for when you list retired sets for well over RRP on Ebay. Currently I'm working on picking up sets from the following lines, with my ultimate goal to own the entire series of each when I'm done: Modular buildings, Architecture, Creator model buildings, Winter Village, The Lego Movie, all the major pirate ships since the 80's, Advanced models, large exclusives post-2011.1 point

I remember when, way back when, some people laughed when others suggested this set had the chance to reach $500 in a relatively short period of time. Really close now, with substantial growth potential given its uniqueness1 point

A good general rule is to sell the sets that aren't appreciating rather than focusing on taking profits. This does not apply to QFLL situations, of course (better to have sold RI for $100 than hold 'till now and sell at $20), but HH is firmly retired and I think we've got a pretty good feel for the available inventory. It is also, as Jaisonline writes, a unique set that is not likely to be reproduced, well, ever. The new Monster CMF figures can only help. They let people flesh out their Halloween style lego displays with additional creeps, and CMF list price is so high now that even near duplicates don't really compete much with the HH crew. As an aside, Chinese culture very much frowns on depictions of graveyards, ghouls, and the undead in general. This may have the happy side effect of dissuading Chinese counterfeiting of 'monster' lego sets and figures (for what it's worth, I have not seen any for sale thus far).1 point

as far as price point is concerned, all modular were low and HH TH were the high, they are both lower hoarded for that reason. HH doesn't need a collector to get TH, you could just like it as standalone, and not have to have to have other sets to want it.1 point
